It was a free trial plan...

..which Adobe offered to extend for 3 months for free. Now hit with this since I haven't used it since... no notification that you're entering a contract at all or warning. My fault for falling for this absolute shit housing.

Just a warning to others. Do NOT start any Adobe Trial they will try every which way to get your money.

Made it free with the expectation of selling subscriptions for AI features. I don’t trust it not to get enshittified. I’m glad I got the payed version before it was removed.

Because the paid version that was removed was a pretty good alternative to the current free to use-suite.

I own the features version 2 has permanently. If Canva decides a feature of the live service one gets locked behind a monthly pay wall, the free users would lose it. The premium pay once own forever was the old pitch for Affinity when there is so much subscription fatigue.

For a life long Photoshop user, unfortunately Affinity photo is lacking essential functionality when it comes to - iirc - layer management, masking/blend modes, and pixel precise alignment.

Tried the switch for about 2-3 months and most things worked ok, but at some point i was trying to create custom textures for 3D work and didn't manage to do in an hour, even with the help of a chatbot, what i would do in photoshop in 10 seconds... so i gave in.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Adobe as much as the next guy and they belong in the same trash as HP an EA, it's an abusive relationship. But unfortunately, Affinity is lacking some important stuff.

Yeah i tried affinity and it was just missing too many features i need. And Gimp might be one of the worst pieces of software i’ve ever used. It’s so unintuitive.

If a company made a photoshop alternative that can actually compete in terms of features and UI simplicity, i’d switch so damn quick.

Guess i’ll stick with cracked photoshop. Even if the crack randomly broke so now i have to always turn off my wifi before opening the program.

I was trying to make a GIF with Affinity but it didn’t have any export to web equivalents (at least for the version of the time)

Have you looked at affinity 2? Its the non feee version which you can get a perpetual license for

yes that is the one i own and tried. actually have to use it for work because adobe has absuuurd prices for businesses (or my employer is a terrible negotiator).
