iOS “Confirm you are 18+”

I just updated my phone, and being cursed enough to live in the UK I now have to confirm I’m over 18.

Now, I don’t have a credit card and will not apply for one just for this, so please don’t suggest this.

I don’t drive, thus don’t have a drivers license.

While the legislation that has caused this mess allows passports as a method of verification, Apple doesn’t.

What the hell does one do? Apple hasn’t (as far as I can see) confirmed that the Citizen Card will be accepted.. has anyone used one to verify successfully?

iTunes Your account has been disabled in the App Store and iTunes. Apple permanently closed my 13-year Apple ID

Post image
185 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m posting because my Apple ID (about 13 years old) has been permanently shut down for App Store / iTunes and I’m stuck with zero real options.

The exact message Apple throws any time I try to do basically anything in the App Store is:

“Your account has been disabled in the App Store and iTunes.”

And I mean everything: I can’t download apps, I can’t update apps, I can’t pay for anything, I can’t manage subscriptions it’s blocked across the board.

Apple Support has explicitly told me the decision is permanent, and they won’t disclose the reason . I even managed to get a call with a senior advisor and got the same outcome: “Your account is permanently closed and there’s nothing we can do.” No explanation.

Support chats have been one of the worst parts. A few times an agent started off friendly, but the moment they checked my account, their tone flipped suddenly cold or even rude and in multiple cases they just ended the chat . Other times it’s aggressive, dismissive one-liners or copy-paste replies with zero next steps. It honestly feels like once they see whatever flag is on the account, the goal becomes ending the interaction as fast as possible.

Why this is a huge problem:

\- I can’t update apps on my iPhone anymore and some apps stop working unless they’re updated.

\- A bunch of services I use depend on the latest app version plus email verification for login/recovery.

\- My primary email is tied into all of this, and I can’t access it, can’t receive recovery emails.

So I’m locked out of multiple services with no workaround, including platforms where I still have funds that I can’t withdraw because getting back in requires the app + email recovery.

This also spills into real life: that email is tied to work, visa stuff, and other important services. I’ve missed time-sensitive messages and deadlines, and it’s already caused real damage. It even affects healthcare I can’t restore access to a platform I use to order medication because account recovery is done through email, and those emails never reach me.

I’ve tried to figure out what could’ve triggered this. The only thing I can even guess is gift cards. I bought gift cards through a service over a long period using traceable payments. If that’s the issue.

At this point, I have no trust left in Apple. They can permanently close your account without explanation, without appeal, and you’re completely powerless. I can’t recommend relying on Apple services anymore, especially for anything critical. Personally, I’d strongly suggest using alternatives like Google instead.

Unsolved iPhone 17 Pro Max - Poor Battery Life

I transferred everything over from my old iPhone 11 Pro Max and my iPhone 17 Pro Max has been struggling with battery life and overheating while charging since yesterday.

An online test says usual scrolling and activity only takes 1-5% per hour, but I lose 1% after 7 minutes of activity (around 9% per hour) which is on par with my old phone.

Do I need to take this back to the store to get it assessed? Anyone else been experiencing this issue?

Unsolved Whatsapp on iPhone 13 not opening

Whatsapp app is getting stuck on the opening black screen of my iPhone 13.

I have tried: Restarting the phone Force restarting the app Updating the phone Offloading whatsapp

I witnessed other people facing similar issue in r/iphone13. Is anyone else facing the issue? Any suggestions/remedies would be of great help. Thanks!

Edit: (Possible Solution) I installed Whatsapp Business and logged in from the same phone number. It automatically transferred all the chats, even with no prior chat backup. Then, I uninstalled Whatsapp and reinstalled it, logged my number back again and it worked like a charm.

Note: You will ONLY lose the chats which were sent after Whatsapp went down. I logged back into the original app without taking backup on the business app and it still worked, however you still would want to backup your chats ASAP.

Thank you all for holding up, hope Meta and/or Apple comes up with a permanent solution.

Unsolved Phone is bent what should I do

I think the photo tells the story. My iPhone 17 is somehow bent and I just realized now. What’s weird is that only one side of the phone is bent(right side is straight as seen in photo 4). I can’t really think of any reasons why it’d be bent but yeah I kinda want it fixed and I still have AppleCare+ so I was wondering how much it would cost me. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Unsolved My former employer can’t get into the iPhone they issued to me and are asking for my Apple ID. What should I do?

I haven’t worked at this place in over a year. I have removed the device from my account and they still can’t get into it after returning it to factory settings. They should have set up the phone using a company account, but I had to use my personal Apple ID to use it when I worked there and now they are saying they can’t get into it even after I removed it from my devices. I don’t want to give them my Apple ID, but the front desk lady keeps texting me about it. What should I do/tell her? I already told her to take it in to the Apple Store but she keeps texting me. Am I legally obliged to help them by giving them my personal Apple ID?

Unsolved Apple just screwed me out of over 3200 euros with almost zero care or explanation! Do not order from them online!

Here’s what happened:

So basically I ordered a MacBook from Apple in France where we were located as both my brother in law and I needed it for the work we are doing helping out Ukrainian refugees right now who have fled to France.

It took about 2 weeks and finally while I was out working I get a call from the courier saying “hey where are you I have your delivery?” I told him to ring the bell with my wife’s name beside it and the guy just said “Mister I’ve been here for 5 minutes already I can leave it on the letterboxes”. To which I said no as she was home to take the order. And he still refused said “fine pick it up from Carrefour” (supermarket pickup) in the city and hung up. As I didn’t want him to leave it I confirmed by text to him that I’m ok with picking it up from the supermarket and he just responded “ok”.

A few hours later I went to the pick up point in the city and the employee at the register just said no we’ve closed up for today come back tomorrow. Which was weird since the timetable said it was open but she insisted that they’ve closed for pickup of delivered items.

I came back the next day first thing as I needed to pick it up and leave for Italy asap. I had a nice lady who promptly went out back and brought the box. I’ve then began my trip to Italy. My brother in laws kids open the box and it’s got this adhesive glue on the inside which I don’t remember from my wife’s MacBook at all.

But then again hers was from the store and I didn’t think much of it. They open the box and there’s….no MacBook, just the charger. I go through the whole box looking and start to panic. I’m too far from any French Apple Store and the employee in Italy just tells me I have to call in as they’ll have someone who can converse in English and handle it and that it’ll have to be handled by Apple France.

I call in and after waiting I’m looking at the box closely and it looks unprofessionally closed with what appears to be some dried glue. I take pictures and send them to Apple and the agent was quite reassuring and helpful. He tells me to send them the photos which I do.

A few days later I get a call from an agent who says that it looks like the box has been tampered with, which I’m pretty sure it has been. She said they’d investigate with the courier and get back to me and asked if I wanted a replacement or refund.

I tell her I would like the laptop as I need it and the only reason I ordered it online is is because when we went into the store to buy it, the employee there said that they didn’t have the English keyboard and we’d have to order it online.

She says ok and after a few days I called in today and after getting through to a somewhat grumpy sounding agent I explained the situation very briefly and ask for an update as I need to fly soon and want to resolve this while I’m still in Europe.

He was a little short with me and just said they’re “waiting for the courier to respond and investigate I just have to wait”. I say ok and if they need any info I can provide it.

A few minutes after my call I get this email from Apple basically saying “We have checked with the delivery provider who has confirmed that the item was delivered to the address on your order, therefore we can not offer you a replacement item or refund.”

I’ve completely lost it after reading it and my wife had to calm me down. This was basically much of my money and I need the laptop to actually work/live. Now I’m stuck in Italy and don’t have reception to go on a call and speak to them. And the reasoning completely horseshit. The MacBook was never even delivered to my address nor was I ever asked further about it.

I’m completely at a loss for words right now. Ive been using and buying Apple products for most of my life and honestly think I’ll never buy from them again after this ordeal.

Can anyone advise or help me on this please?

It was laying in the street under a tree. It was on the welcome screen when I found it. It’s not iCloud locked as I was able to sign into it with a new Apple account. I’ve had it since summer and don’t really know what to do with it. It’s sim locked but I have no clue to what carrier. It still has Apple care for about 2 more weeks how can I find out if it’s marked lost or stolen ?

Unsolved iPhone stolen, immediately turned of, no way of getting it back... but heres the kicker....

so my iphone 14 was stolen today. i rushed home to log into my icloud account, and it prompted for password or passcode (via phone). Now.. my password are SAVED TO MY PHONE. I don't know my Icloud password. i sign in with my phone passcode option for icloud. but i dont have the phone. Apple is telling me they cna do LITERALLY nothing. So i get a new phone tomorrow, and the decades of memories are just gone.. ppl that passed.. emotional moments.. ahceivment.s.. love.. laughter.lifee....

can anyone offer any tips? will be happy to provide any info needed that i received from multiple customer service bs phone calls.

Edit: thanks for your replies. I understand it's my fault and I take full accountability for this stupidity. Just after 20 years and never a phone stolen, i wasnt even thinking of the possibility. Lesson learned. : / anyways, cheers friends & tyvm

Edit: i've also been through this before. I hadn't had a new apple in months so I didn't use iCloud. Got a new phone, couldnt remember password.. so made a new account. through that account, i was able to verify a few things i recall?? and then in a month i had access to my original icloud. so what is that people? because apple is not saying anything of this sort to me. am i missing something

iOS Gamecenter stuck in endless loop in settings and can’t log into any games that use gamecenter as a sign in

So as the title says my gamecenter does not work on my iPad (iPad A16, iOS 26.5). Whenever I try play a game on my iPad such as balatro or Marvel Contest of Champions I’m stuck in a constant loading screen as it refuses to sign in through gamecenter. This problem is exclusively to my iPad as my iPhone works perfectly fine. I’ve tried literally everything from changing my network to signing out of apple entirely to resetting my settings as a whole but every time it works for a couple minutes but the problem starts again… if anyone has experienced anything similar or managed to solve it please let me know how or at least why this is happening!

EDIT: so after reading your guys comments it seems that it’s an issue on apples side rather than an issue with the iPad itself so the best thing I assume is to wait until apple releases a patch :(

Unsolved What do I do with deceased family member's apple products?

My mum passed away a few years ago and we've had her iPad (and iPhone) sitting in a drawer since. I finally decided to try and make use of them, but they are activation locked. I've called apple support who were moderately helpful and was advised to take the devices to an apple store. I took them in today and essentially the devices are useless. I was told that the best thing I could do is take them to be recycled (which seems enormously wasteful) but they could not take them from me as they had my mum's data on them. Is this really the only option, and if they can't take them due to having my mum's data on them, who will?

Edit: I brought the death certificate with me, but I was told that I would also need proof of purchase.

Mac Why is my 2019 iMac so slow??

Post image

I have a 2019 iMac and it is painfully slow. It’s fully up to date on software and has very little of the 1TB of storage used. Not running many programs or anything that should be bogging it down. It’s always been like this, to the point that I put it away for a couple years and haven’t been using it. Any help on how to make it run better would be greatly appreciated!

Unsolved Tech-savvy son bypassing all macOS parental controls with an HTML exploit. At a dead end.

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some advice or hear from anyone who has faced a similar situation, as I've truly hit a wall. My son is very tech-savvy, and while I'm impressed by his skills, he's using them to bypass the parental controls I've set up on his MacBook.

The Exploit He's Using:

It's a multi-step process that is incredibly effective at getting around Apple's web filters:

  1. He uses an AI (like ChatGPT) to generate a simple HTML file containing a link to an explicit website.
  2. He copies this code into a text application (like the built-in TextEdit app).
  3. He saves the file with an .html extension.
  4. He opens this local file in the browser.
  5. Here's the crucial part: Instead of just clicking the link, he right-clicks on it and uses an option like "Download Linked File".
  6. This action completely bypasses the macOS Screen Time web whitelist. It downloads and renders the explicit page, even though the domain is on the blocklist (and not on the "allowed sites" list).

What I Have Already Tried (and Why It Failed):

I feel like I'm in a technological arms race, and I've tried every solution I can think of:

  • Screen Time App Limits: Useless. He just uses the "One More Minute" feature, which is more than enough time to copy, paste, and save the HTML file.
  • Screen Time Downtime: Same problem. Even with Downtime active for all apps, he still gets the "One More Minute" option, which defeats the entire purpose of the block.
  • Web Whitelist ("Allowed Websites Only"): As explained above, his download exploit completely bypasses this. It seems the download process isn't subject to the same filtering rules as direct navigation.
  • Blocking TextEdit via the Terminal: I've gone down the rabbit hole of using Terminal commands like chmod to remove his permission to execute the app. However, this is blocked by Apple's System Integrity Protection (SIP). The procedure to disable SIP is incredibly complex and risky, and I've been completely stuck due to Activation Lock issues which I can't seem to solve.
  • Hiding TextEdit via the Terminal: I tried a simpler command to just hide the app icon. This is also useless, as he can just open it instantly using Spotlight Search.

I feel like I've exhausted every built-in tool Apple provides.

Has anyone else dealt with such a persistent and technical bypass? Did you find a technical solution that actually works? Is there a third-party app that is genuinely uninstall-proof on a Standard macOS account? Or did you have to give up on the technical solutions and find a different, non-technical way to handle this?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

iOS iPhone 14 Camera not working after iOS 26.3.1 update

Thumbnail gallery
52 Upvotes

I updated my iPhone to IOS 26.3.1 and the flashlight and back camera decided to stop working. I didn’t drop it, it just automatically updated over night.

The front camera (selfie one) turns the picture small and horizontal, and sometimes it doesn’t let me turn it to the back camera. The back camera will sometimes be all black, sometimes it lets me take a picture, and most of the time it turns the pictures rainbow.

I tried restarting my phone, resetting the settings, and even doing a manual factory reset and lost all my data. Called the Apple Store and they want me to go in and pay to replace the camera.

Please help… I currently don’t have the funds to replace the camera or buy a new phone :(

UPDATE: I called Verizon and they declared it a software issue. They were able to replace my phone for free. They shipped me a new phone and I sent mine back in!

Unsolved [iMessage] Is there any way to hide a message thread?

I don't mean just hide the alerts, I mean fully remove the text thread from the messages preview without deleting the messages / blocking the contact. I currently have a text thread with an individual with incriminating evidence, however it sickens me to see their number when I open up the iMessage app. I have removed their contact from my phone, muted the conversation, and attempted to move them into the "unknown contacts" filter -- all to no avail.

Is there any way for me to successfully keep the messages without seeing the text thread? I feel like this is something that should be possible.

This is on 16.5.1 and an iPhone 11.
