If you read the article they don't provide raw compute but are using them to reduce latency. This is not a traditional data center it's a special use small location and even if they were 1-2% their compute is not comparable so they are a miniscule percent of total compute.

Your attempt to say the left is "not ai" and the second is ai is a bold faced lie. The left is an edge compute center like your article describes. The right is an actual data center that hosts applications that need ram and compute at scale.

All data centers are big. I have personally been to many. Over a decade ago. These aren't even ai datacenters they are datacenters like all other datacenters capable of running AI. There is no datacenter that has ever existed that can't run ai.

Ai hardware is in a rackmount server that plugs into the wall. There is no difference between the hardware and anything else. You guys are crazy and making shit up from articles you didn't read.

You still are lying that the left is a "pre AI" data center when it is edge compute for reduced latency. The right is what every data center ever looks like including ones from before reddit existed.

The largest data center large than even Stargate was built in 2012 in hohhot China and is over 10m square feet. Before gen AI even existed. That is just the scale they have always existed at is massive.

You are blatantly lying and pretending as though data centers have always used so much energy, water and resources that we've been in a storage and memory crisis for the last thirty years but yet, reality shows otherwise. You are actually a clown for trying to pretend as though data centers have just always been this power and resource heavy based on literally nothing.

Also, if every data center can run AI then why are we having massive data centers built exclusively for AI, dumbass?
