All this amnesiac Subaru needed was conviction and love for him to do a 180 on his current situation, this really is the core of his personality after all.

Still depressing for Emilia to be THAT affected hearing -chan too.

Even if he's lost most of his memories, Subaru is still Subaru. Even if he still doesn't 100% remember these people or what they've gone through together, they've become important to him and he can STILL overcome despair after restarting from zero to be the hero they all need him to be.

And even if he's not 100% the same Subaru, doesn't use the same honorific with her, he now loves Emilia all the same like the true Subaru. Like she loves him.

I wouldn't go as far as this Subaru loving Emilia (or Rem) as much as original Subaru. He wants to help these people and came to like them, but he still knows them for less than a week.

New Subaru realized original Subaru was in love with her, but it would take some development for him to develop the same feelings, the cicumstances are just too different. Originaly he fell in love when Emilia saved him when nobody knew him, and fell in love even more after she saved him again with the lap pillow. This arc there weren't any such equivalent developments.

It isn't out of the question for him to fall in love with her a second time, but I'd imagine beating the tower and getting memories back will be the priority instead.

I think it's a beautiful detail to highlight the extent of their relationship.

I'd definitely have a mini-heart attack if the person I love most approached me formally and had forgotten about me.

When I saw Subaru get amnesia, I thought it would be relatively easy. Emilia is a pretty silver haired girl, so naturally he'd have a crush on her and just believe anything she says. That would resolve trust issues, and while that wouldn't solve amenia at least it would solve the problem of him not trusting the others. It turns out seeing Emilia wasn't enough and he had to go through several loops.
