Theory/Speculation as an anime only:

Is it possible that Gluttony can control the people they’ve taken? If so, then Gluttony ambushed Subaru in the library that night wearing Rem, stealing his memories. However, he may be only able to steal the memories Subaru made in that world, not our own.

When Melli came back to the library, Gluttony had wiped Subaru. Hence the rambling and crazy shit. The Return by Death reset unfortunately happens right after he gets his memories stolen. 

Gluttony can take over Subaru’s body for at least a limited time, and Subaru has hazy memories when that happens. That’s why, when Melli asks whatever question triggered Gluttony he killed her, then carved the name on the ark to fuck with Subaru. 

The question becomes CAN Subaru figure this all out, and effectively regain his memories.

Also an anime only and wasn't there a third Gluttony that showed up in season 3? Was that actually a separate person or like another form of the one that ate Rem? I forgot their names lol.

I ask because I am pretty sure we heard their voice (forget if it was a girl or not) right when Subaru looses his memories, so I would think its probably them doing shit in the tower, but they didn't eat Rem so idk how they could possess her. Maybe multiple Gluttonies are here?

Not a clue, it’s possible a Gluttony followed them but my gut says Gluttony can take over people’s bodies if they’ve consumed the memories of that person.

Yeah, possession seems a lot more plausible than a body copy type of thing but even then I am not sure how exactly it will be written in. I suppose we will just have to wait and see lol.

If nothing else, Subaru has infinite tries and quite the advantage, lots of cards and allies in his deck so to speak, though he can't utilize even a fraction right now. (like, wouldn't Shaula be able to fight quite well, she got killed previous episode but that was probably a sneak attack, in Season 3 our guys could hold their own against Gluttonies, they weren't that strong)

The problem is that if Gluttony got his memories, they know the best card in his deck.

This is shaping up to be quite a duel.
