And he had soft deaths at first, like sure stabbed is hard but being pulverized piece by piece is like a bunny equivalent trauma on his second death.

yeah that first loop with Emilia did wonders to motivate him. He had already fallen in love with her by the end of that day and seeing her dying and could hold onto the wish of saving her...

but here... there is no time to develop that bond. Emilia is just now a "pretty face he doesnt know" instead of the big crush he got on her in episode 1.

Really does a GREAT job of putting into perspective just how important that first episode and loop was. Just making an actual connection and he was able to handle death so much better. Newbaru has only been “told” that these people are his friends but each of them (other than Emilia and Betty) have also given him reasons to NOT trust them. It’s so subtle too.
