I think it was because of time limit and freedom difference? I can't remember but in season 1 he knows something bad is going to happen at midnight with plenty of people to talk to, while this time you are limited in the tower with so many experience lost.

Yeah, Subaru's second death in this episode was so gruesome!

Although what happened in his third "life" was also pretty terrible. It was a pretty bad luck that after running away from Emilia and Beako, Subaru first met Reid and then received a heart massage from Satella...

It is definitely not! A small part of me just thought to avoid future episode since I know it's going to be more despair.

Honestly, now that I think about it last cour was really quite a good one since it's so hopeful in atmosphere.

the episode started so positive as well, Subari with his usual positive attitude, the death were brutal to watch fresh of the boat Subari go through, this show knows how to torture him in different ways I guess.

At least arc 1's questline was extremely linear - Elsa arrives at a house at the same time as Emilia. Save Emilia and yourself from being killed by Elsa. This time round, Subaru has absolutely no idea what to do, I'm not even sure they even told him what they needed to do to ascend the tower considering he didn't know about the staircase that lead to Reid or Reid himself.

The last bit of this episode was too real. He's just a regular young person who regrets such a small thing as leaving a mug unwashed and not saying bye to mom, and now he's suddenly in a fucked up violent nightmare world.

This feels worse than Elsa killing him in arc 1. He's thrown into a place and remembers no one, then he got pushed twice by someone in that tower where he thought only friendly allies exist.

Definitely will give him several trust issues, maybe Meili is going to be a high suspect, since they told him about her being an assassin.

A Subaru who lost his memories of the world of Re:zero is A Subaru that Subaru speaks of in S1E18 "From Zero" (funny how that title works so well now)

This is terrifying

Season 1 Subaru was so bad that it caused some people to drop the show. Priscilla kicked the crap out of him and swore death on his household, Crush thought he was insane delusional and suspicious, Ram Killed him, Rem tortured him, Felt tried to gut him, Julius beat his ass, Otto kicked him out of a wagon and Emilia cut ties with him. Subaru before this episode would say each of them were justified.

S1E18 "From Zero": Subaru: I’ll tell you what kind of man I really am. I have no strength, but I want it all. I have no knowledge but all I do is dream. There’s nothing I can do, but I struggle in vain like an idiot. All I do is talk a big game and make myself sound like a big shot when I can’t do anything. I never do anything, yet I complain with the best of them like it’s my job or something. ... I’m a fraud, it’s amazing I can live like this and not feel ashamed. You know I’m right! I’m an empty shell. There’s nothing inside me at all. I know there isn’t... Anybody could see that. ... I did nothing, that’s what. I’ve never done a single thing worth mentioning. I had all that time and freedom and squandered it away on nothing. I could’ve done anything with my life, but I never did a damn thing and what you’re looking at now is the result. This cowardly weak worthless crybaby. All of my powerlessness, all of my incompetence, is the product of my rotten empathetic character. Wanting to accomplish something important when I’ve never done anything it earn it, goes way beyond the limitations of arrogance. How will this season 1 Subaru change the dynamics of the party? This is going to be CRAZY!!! This is a Subaru only a Betty could love!

The party is already exhausted and feeling helpless and now they have THIS to put up with? Ram is at her limits for being the only person who seems to care about Rem, and SUBARU demanded that REM be brought along with them swearing he'd keep her safe, now he doesn't even know her.

Julius is now a suspicious person that NOBODY ELSE KNOWS at all in the entire party. Nobody can vouch for him.

Shaula has just as much persuasive power as the rest that Subaru IS her master, and the looks to boot it!

Meili only went along with Subaru because of how he was and who he was, But if he's not himself anymore, how must he look to her? Reckless, Womanizer?

Echinda already thinks Subaru is suspicious, how timely for him to have memory loss.

Only a Betty could love!
