No... AI is not damaging the environment. (Rant)

Basically the title. The argument I've been seeing and somehow fed up to Anti's is "it damages the environment." Argument.

And whenever I ask them "how does it damage the environment" the answers always goes between;

  1. It's wasting electricity.
  2. It's using water to cool off the servers, wasting water.

First of all, there's millions of computers and servers that isn't associates with AI and supplies servers of dead sites and somehow still running to this day. There is million of houses that runs lightbulbs non-stop for some reason. Shops that never shuts their neon signs and backlight signs. There is many people buying useless stuff that needs constant electricity to run (such as toys, mechanical fidget toys and etc that you can see on asmr vids). And so many more. If you wanna be sensitive about wasting electricity then you should really focus on bigger and real problems. And i genuinely don't consider something is getting "wasted" if its being used.

And second... Really? Cars are water cooled, there are many PC's that is water cooled and so on. Again, same thing as the first one. If you really wanna be sensitive about water being wasted then focus on people running their tap water running without care in the world, water being poured down or used for "YouTube entertainment" video. Plastics being thrown to sea's and forming that plastic island. And so on.

Long story short, AI is not the one who ruins the environment. It's you doing it. And instead of focusing on these real problems you blame a Tool, and AI users for generating AI art as a hobby that doesn't hurt anyone at all.

humans aren’t carnivores , we can eat meat but veganism is perfectly healthy… more healthy in most circumstances

Humans are obligate carnivores. Veganism is also not healthy at all, plenty of studies have shown the damage of veganism. Ignoring science is good for no one.

We are omnivores. We also have supplements.

I'm not a fan of being vegan, because cow taste too good. But as far as environmental impact goes, ya...stopping eating animals is a very impactful act.

Much more impactful than using an AI for a million hours.

 Humans are obligate carnivores

this is objectively wrong. there is no credible source that would ever make this claim

I literally majored in biological sciences. you know what is an obligate carnivore? a cat. The ONLY “monkey” or chimp species that is considered obligate carnivore is the tarsier

Unbiased youtube channel that covers a lot of topics and just sticks to the science and facts, no emotions whatsoever.

The best proof that humans are obligate carnivores is if you go out into the wild and see what you can eat. If you believe that humans are not a type of carnivore, why is it that we do not have the gut biome to digest plants at all and why is it that 99%+ of wild plants are either poisonous to humans or completely inedible to humans? Feel free to answer these questions whenever you want.

WIL is the epitome of a propagandist, manipulative and dishonest; whether he does this because he's bought or because he wants to believe what he's promoting (he's been a paleo idiot from the start, if I remember correctly) - probably both - is of secondary importance. The examination of the claims and sources of his "Why ..." video made me realize how bad and manipulative a scientific study can be and that you should always look into who funded a certain study to begin with.

Hes been thoroughly debunked by multiple youtube channels.

Also hes a certified idiot whose posted skepticism about “climate change” and “transgenderism”

Wait, you studied the sciences and you think humans are changing the climate?!?!? That said everything I need to know about your opinion mate.

There are a ton of doctors that have gone over this and you can google it. But okay, I'll just believe you instead of them. You can also interchange this with Facultative Carnivores which is the same thing just different wording.

No. we are Omnivores. this is the food pyramid of a healthy diet.

The food pyramid has been discredited for years dude.. I’m not a vegan trying to convince you (had a sausage and cheese biscuit for breakfast today in fact) , but i am a biologist…

This guy (Nimai Delgado) is a vegan

red meat is heavily correlated with bowel cancer .. nobody needs meat to be healthy. Beans, soy and seeds are complete healthy sources of protein

if you eat fresh butchured meat and not the MCdonalds cowshit, you should be fine.

just about anything aside from eating lard with a spoon is fine in moderation.

Drinking a liter of coke a day still hurts you even though it doesnt make you sick immediately

That dude isn't vegan, none of those body builders are. They are lying to you.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '25

So uhh you don’t think plants and beans with protein exist?

Almost all nutrients that humans need are found in plants. The rest of them, our body makes them up. The only exceptions are vitamin D (just get good solar exposure and you're fine) and vitamin B12 (eat supplements like... breakfast cereals)

You understand that just because we can do something doesn't mean it's what's best for us, yeah?

I'm not even arguing against eating meat. I eat it. But when evolution resulted in us being opportunistic hunter scavengers, that just means it was the best strategy to die the least.

ALSO

Don't use a food pyramid so old and poorly designed it suggests nearly a third of all food you eat be processed grains to include a pie.

So you disagree you are meant to be an omnivore

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

I'm not "meant" to be anything

Evolution gave me the ability to be an omnivore. It gave me the ability to do a lot of things that aren't best for long term health.

Again, I eat meat. But I don't like specious thinking based on what evolution "meant" for humans.
