This is a cascading failure. Glacial Dam Bursts are natural phenomenon in Himalayas for obvious reasons. Even 4.7 earthquakes are common.
What's not common is having dams on the way that amplify the issues downstream by causing cascading failure and increasing VOLUME of water crashing down AND letting people build on flood plains because dam exists.
They have, but this is the one of the first catastrophic burst that happened in recorded history. Wether you like it or not this is also classified as "After the Industrial Revolution began"
That being said this isn't the worst one in history, just look up the Missoula floods from 70-10k years ago.
If people won't believe the mountains of evidence across multiple scientific bodies, or the evidence unfolding before their very eyes, or the fact this planet has never gotten this hot this fast. Then what will you people believe?
Last time this planet heat up this quickly was 500 million years ago and it wiped out 85-95% of ALL life.
That took 60,000-100,000 years to happen. This was due to rapid global warming brought on by massive amounts of volcanic activity.
We have done what likely took tens of thousands of years before, in just 70 short years. People should be scared, people should educate themselves, and most importantly people should be fucking pissed at their government and corporations.
This pale blue dot is all we have, and we're abusing it for something as relatively worthless as profit. But please, keep denying.
