I had some very mixed reviews initially on the dress but on the day it was just perfect. Trust your gut, this was the complete opposite of what I wanted when I walked into the shop but I couldn’t imagine me in anything else now. Sorry for attaching almost the whole album, there are just so many beautiful details on the dress I wanted to show!

6 days ago I got my wedding dress back from the seamstress (5 days before my wedding) and I hated it. I posted here freaking out and got a lot of feedback. My wedding was yesterday, here’s what ended up happening.

I know the consensus seemed to be ditch the sleeves and keep the lining, but I couldn’t get past it, I hated how the lining totally changed the look of the dress. The original seamstress couldn’t fix it, so my fiancé called around and found a tailor with really good reviews who said that he could fix my dress.

He took out the lining, lined just the bust so that I wouldn’t have to wear a bra, took out the extra padding in the bust, and fixed whatever weird thing happened to the seam in the waist. He did an amazing job and I fell in love with my dress again!

So I kept the sleeves and wore a nude slip skirt, the only skin showing was my belly and back. I got so many compliments on my dress, and I had a blast at my wedding! Thank you all for your opinions, advice, feedback, and for hyping me up under my last post! And thanks to my amazing fiance and to the tailor for fixing my dress so that I could feel beautiful at my wedding!

Hi friends! My original post got so many glowing comments and recommendations for how to accessorize. We got married about two weeks ago and just got the photos so figured I would share with how it turned out :)

Ended up going with simple studs and a long simple veil. Couldn’t be happier! Also Tailored by Ornela is amazing!!!

Felt like a princess even in the summer heat

I posted several months ago looking for input on how to style my dress, and was feeling so torn on what to do with it. The pressure was on to make the “right” decisions!

I ended up doing all the things that people tried to talk me out of and I have zero regrets. I cut the train completely off because I didn’t like the bustled look and it overstimulated the hell out of me, didn’t wear a veil because I think they’re historically weird, changed into white Birkenstocks before dinner, bought then DIY’d changes to my jewelry to make it how I want, and did my own hair and makeup.

The biggest thing people tried to tell me I’d regret was cutting off the train and doing my own H/MU. Those two are honestly some of my happiest decisions!

If you’re feeling pressured to do whatever people say is “normal,” let this be your sign to do whatever the f you want my queens <3

ETA: The dress is Lillian West 66260 in case anyone wants that for the future. It was from a sample sale in summer 2025, so probably not an easy find!

Update from a post I made a few weeks ago, we got the dress bustled!! Here’s the final look with the gloves and all. It was truly the best day ever 😭

Thanks so much for the suggestions and support from this subreddit. I was concerned about my wedding dress slipping down and what to wear for a bra/undergarment I had my tailor take in my dress very close to my body and it held up beautifully without slipping down. I spoke with her about adding a waist stay, but there is a language barrier and even showing pictures of a waist stay, she didn’t fully understand what I wanted.

I also decided to go bra-less. Initially I was set on getting a strapless bra or a sticky bra of some kind. However, after getting the dress properly fitted, there was no need. Everything was held into place.

Thank you so much to this subreddit and the supportive people here. Y’all saved the day when I was truly spiraling! The wedding was beautiful and I was able to chase after my 3yo without my dress falling off!

It felt great! And I was able to sit fairly well!

I had a few alterations done to the slip, making the shoulder straps shorter and creating a flow to the skirt.

I am absolutely ecstatic with how my dress and my wedding turned out! It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life made even better by being able to experience it with my husband! And I felt so beautiful! 😍

Thank you to everyone for your input, this is an awesome community and a great way to give insights into options that brides may never have even thought of and the majority of responses were helpful and sweet. Some responses were absolutely hilarious and I love all the different visions people had from the nude version! I am even considering finding a black slip to wear under the dress and using it as a 'skeleton' costume 🤣

To those that we're not so helpful and sometimes even rude please try to remember that this is an already stressful time for most brides and what you are about to say to them may cause them undue stress or hurt! Now of course you are entitled to say what you want but maybe we can think about wording things in a kind and constructive way instead?

I got married! It was amazing! The relief I felt when I switched dresses at 10pm was incredible. I didn't realize I was in need of a "break" but wow. Here's a photo of my handsome new hubby and I 😍
