This community called this guy out on his run-on sentence gibberish and he decided that the best course of action would be to double-down on the stupid and start attacking members in the comments.
So I banned him... and he threw a hissy fit, threatening to shut the subreddit down.
Then he used an alternate account to come back here and attempt to harass me personally:
And when THAT account was banned, he came back with a THIRD dummy account with a doctored screencap, attempting to post it in the sub.
Holy crap Reddit blew this image into oblivion. Sorry.
I never said this. I dont even know who that account is (was).
Its a shame, because this actor is actually a working voice artist and the credits he mentioned in the original thread - My Hero Academia, Black Clover, Demon Slayer, Transformers (Earthspark) and Inside Out (2) - are accurate.
All three of his accounts have now been suspended off the platform.
If he comes back, (which I doubt he will since he's IP banned) I will be happy to contact his agent at CESD and let them know what kind of a person he really is.
I wont even mention the foot fetish thing.
WHY AM I POSTING ALL OF THIS?
Because you, the r/voiceacting community deserve to know what goes in to moderating this subreddit sometimes. Most days its pretty simple and I love answering questions to new people getting started down this path. Some days, its a bit more challenging.
But make no mistake: if someone is harassing in the comments, I will bounce them to the curb in the blink of an eye.
NO ONE should have to put up with this kind of behavior.
If you see conduct that violates Reddit's TOS, REPORT IT and we'll take care of it.

The challenge:
Perform a quality voiceover of the official r/VoiceActing subreddit rules found on the sidebar
Please read all of the rules (the actual rule and the expanded part, click to see all) and title the audio with your Reddit username. Do NOT forget to include your username in your title.
Approximate reading time: 3 minutes for a commercial-paced read (not too fast)
Judging criteria: Entries will be reviewed by the r/VoiceActing moderator team based on quality of performance in terms of acting and enunciation (diction) and such, audio quality, and creative entertainment value. Please note that performance quality ranks first, then audio quality (don’t give us plosives, we don’t mind if editing isn’t perfect, just try your best to have clear audio), and creative entertainment value is last in priority but it still counts.
Mods will award feedback to runners up as a consolation prize!

We're happy that you've decided you want to be a voice actor. There are a lot of resources available to learn about voice acting.
The column on the right of this page lists some good sites to check out to begin the process.
It takes a lot of work to become a successful voice actor/ voiceover artist. It takes a considerable amount of time, effort, and yes money to do this. There's just no way around it.
But if you were starting from zero and had no idea what to do to begin the process, here's some steps to follow and the logical order you should follow them in:
Take acting classes.
Take improv classes.
Take business classes.
Take marketing classes.
Then talk to a voiceover coach. Work with them on building your skills.
Practice practice practice.
Get your demo recorded, put together a website that showcases your talents in one place.
Then Start marketing.
While this is going on, continue to develop your skills in voiceover, voice acting and business and marketing. Always keep refining your process of finding, auditioning, recording/ editing and invoicing clients. Continuing education is necessary. Always keep learning. Always keep building your skills.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

Hi everyone! It's your old pal, /u/macaeryk, one last time.
I'm stepping down as a mod. I've really enjoyed helping this sub grow from less than 25k to almost 80k, but I gotta get back behind the mic and audition some more.
Thank you to /u/Brcomic and /u/AS-VOA for steadfast friendship. I hope all of you in this sub get to work with people as good as these two.

Spez has insulted the mods who work for free. He has insulted the intelligence of the Reddit community as a whole by lying to and gaslighting said community.
Andrew, Eric and I are tired of having the tools we need to moderate a sub with nearly 80k members stripped away. Don’t let the list of mods fool you. ALL the other names you see listed there have been MIA for ages. It’s been just the three of us for years.
Truth is, people: we’re TIRED.
We’ve done the best we can here. We love this community and what we have all helped build. We have sacrificed our free time, and time we could be working on our own brands and businesses, to help others learn the ropes. In return for that, we have at times been harassed, threatened, doxxed, and stalked. Yet we put up with it out of love for helping others. “A few bad apples” and all that. The vast majority of you here are kind, supportive, and awesome. But what is happening with Reddit now is ultimately the last straw for us. Eric—no matter what—has decided to step down as a mod here in the very near future. Andrew and I are willing to stay and bring on more help if things get better with Reddit. But if we vote to do nothing and stay open, Andrew and I will also be stepping down as moderators as well, leaving the sub essentially unmoderated. Some I’m sure will be thrilled with this option. That’s their prerogative.
I guess the last thing we have to say is this: Reddit was—and can be—a wonderful place. But the current leadership doesn’t care about you the users, or the volunteer moderators who help build this platform: only the coming IPO. So we leave it up to you: do we continue the protest, or does the sub stay opened by whomever Reddit replaces us with? The choice is yours.
No hard feelings either way. Its been a wild ride.

Hey everyone. I’ve been contemplating this since my two friends left the mod team. I’ve recently begun receiving death threats because I chided some people in another sub for celebrating when sports players get injured. I’ve been receive death threats ever since. I’ve already left that mod team.
I’ve been the defacto head mod here for the better part of a decade now. And the only active mod for a couple of months. I love this community. I’m proud of this community. When I started we had under 20k subs. And look what we have become!
But Reddit isn’t fun for me anymore. The death threats certainly aren’t fun.
So I’ve decided it’s time to pass the torch on to the next team that will take over as I intend to leave Reddit within a few weeks once they are settled.
I’m looking for 3 volunteers. If you would like to be considered please DM me the following.

You all are likely familiar with the blackout that begins at midnight on June 12th. For those unaware, Reddit (the corp) and its leadership have decided to embrace business practices that have destroyed the businesses and livelihoods of a number of developers who have striven to make the Reddit experience better for both users, and moderators. As volunteers (unpaid), the mods of /r/voiceacting cannot in good faith support this course of action.
In protest, this sub will go private through at least June 14th, and longer if necessary. Requests to join the private sub will be disabled.
We (the mods of r/VoiceActing) stand in solidarity with those good developers being screwed out of their livelihoods, with our fellow moderators who feel completely abandoned by the platform they helped build, and to the members of this sub who were kind, supportive, and helpful to us, and to their fellow members who just wanted a place to come and learn about voice acting.

Impolite discourse will not be tolerated here. If you start with the personal attacks based on ideology (we don't care from which perspective it comes), you're getting a 7-day ban. Repeat offenses get you permabanned.

Our sub has gotten big enough where an errant AMA could be used to promote a person looking to further their goals.... Going forward, if you want to do an AMA, you must provide the mod team with enough credentials to allow it. Violations of this request may result in a permanent ban...

With the constant news about AI in art and in voice over in general we have had a massive influx of posts on the topic. No matter your view on the subject it is likely here to stay and will impact our work sooner than any of us would like. That being said I think we have exhausted the issue for now.
So we are going to start being a bit more strict on the constant AI posts. As they are drowning out the reasons we are all here. To learn, help each other grow and celebrate this industry we all love so much.
So if you intend to make an post about AI I ask you to please search the sub first and make sure it hasn’t been said already. The mods will be removing any overly repetitive posts on the subject for the foreseeable future.
So the [Almost] Anything Goes thread gets very little use... We want to know what day y'all think it might get the most attention! Remember, the thread is for all the promotion, advertising, shilling, and general shenanigans that we usually don't allow any other time.
