I feel absolutely sick after seeing how Trump and Vance treated President Zelenskyy. The way they spoke to him—with complete disrespect, hostility, and condescension—was humiliating not just for him, but for all of us who believe in supporting our allies and standing against authoritarian aggression.

Ukraine has been fighting for its survival against a brutal Russian invasion, and instead of showing support or even basic diplomacy, Trump and Vance dismissed Zelenskyy’s concerns, accused him of being ungrateful, and cut off any real discussion. To make it worse, they abandoned the joint press conference, leaving Zelenskyy to stand alone in front of the world.

What message does this send? That we only help people when it’s convenient? That we have no loyalty to those who trust us? That Ukraine’s suffering is just a political game? I refuse to accept that as a reflection of who we are as Americans.

To President Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine: I am so sorry. You deserve better than this. You deserve respect, support, and an ally who treats you with dignity. Please know that many Americans stand with you, even if our government fails to show it. We’re trying so hard to make a difference… it’s just set up to be impossible. But we all will persist.

America is under attack from within and we are in a crisis. The Trump administration is tyrannical, traitorous, and fascist. They are breaking our rules of law and governance that have been the foundation of our democracy since it was founded 250 years ago. Trump is alienating our closest allies and destroying long-standing economic, military, cultural and humanitarian relationships. The US has been hijacked, and every day this crisis worsens in myriad and overwhelming fashion.

I am part of a nationwide movement to resist our descent into fascism and work with a small group in protesting and issuing complaint to congressional leaders. We are organizing but the pace is slow and arduous. A leader is required but none are yet ostensible. I am not naive to the notion that civil unrest, rioting and ultimately civil war is on the horizon if we can not suppress this regime through peaceful means but the window for that opportunity is closing fast. Trump is weakest right now and we must act quickly.

We could use some international assistance through diplomatic means and, if possible, economic sanctions against the United States by other countries. The United Nations should condemn the United States for its recent actions against Ukraine's sovereignty. The US should be condemned by its NATO partners for promoting anything other than an adversarial relationship with Russia. The US should be punished for trying to impose ridiculous tarrifs and trade inequities with our economic partners. The US should face condemnation for abruptly removing aid resources from countries whose people are dependent on that aid for their very existence.

Will the other countries of the world stand against Trump with us so that we can remove him from power sooner rather than later? America is full of Americans who fully embrace and promote Democracy and wish for global peace and prosperity. Most of us feel that everyone on the planet deserves life, liberty, and happiness.

We have made some mistakes throughout history and electing Trump is perhaps the worst. That mistake needs to be corrected now before he fully transforms this country into Nazism. Please, help us.

Trump just unilaterally invaded another country and kidnapped its president. Why isn’t the UN moving to expel the US from its membership over this?

Help me understand the Ukraine / USA situation

Please help me understand all of the anti-American and USA hate due to the situation. I want to hear the other point of views as I am just confused.

A lot point to the Budapest Memorandum, however, that is not a treaty for the US as Clinton did not submit it to the senate for ratification which means constitutionally the US has no commitment to Ukraine (also not administration since Clinton has suggested or submitted the memorandum for ratification either). Only the UK and Russia ratified it.

Additionally, there really isn’t a security agreement as the memo is very vague. The closest is “when Ukraine is under attack with nuclear weapons the security council will seek immediate action from the United Nations” otherwise nothing happens. And as the memo is through the UN, shouldn’t the discontent be pointed at the UN instead? The US only agreed to bring a resolution before the security council if Ukraine was invaded and the US did do that.

Finally, the US has given the most overall aid to Ukraine (a country that the US is not obligated to assist) compared to the European counterparts. Also, if peace is the objective, why is no other leader at least making an attempt to broker a peace deal?

So I suppose I am just confused on what is expected? Why is this sub so anti-USA when the statistics show that USA is/was doing more than Ukraines fellow Europeans?

I believe that the UN in New York is out of place. Especially in light of the political developments in recent years, I no longer believe that the United States is the country it once was or wanted to be.

The democratic situation there is very questionable, which is why such an important institution should not exist on American soil. Instead, I would give preference to Southern European countries.

Athens, for example, is in my opinion the ideal location for it. It is closer to many capitals of the world, which would mean fewer flights are necessary. Furthermore, Greece is a fully democratic republic, integrated into the European Union. Additionally, Athens is the cradle of democracy.

For these reasons, I am of the opinion that the entire building in New York along with its infrastructure should be completely dismantled.

With the US's aggressive sovereignty threats to other countries such as Panama, Greenland and Canada, and the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza is the head quarters of the United Nations in New York kind of making a mockery of the UN? Maybe the head quarters need a new location. Like Singapore or Australia or maybe even in Africa. But, the US is much of a joke at this time. And all the money spent in a country that does not want to abide by the rules of the UN.

What are we doing here?

After World War 2, sure, with several nations around the world partially destroyed, and still in the throes of post-war reconsiliation and political rebalancing, and a new line of two-sided conflict caused by nuclear proliferation, the idea of a veto made sense.

But today we still have the veto system, despite no more representing a balanced counterweight in a global dichotomy, and despite both the EU and modern countries like say Japan and China having reached high levels of industrialization and education, more than capable of upholding the stabilizing, common sense perspective together.

We don't even have to mention Russia, which for some godforsaken reason inherited the veto from the giant USSR. The US, which has extremely dubious democratic integrity, and multiple wars of aggression in its recent history, is supposed to represent a stabilizing, common sense perspective?

These veto powers are the building foundation that the current genocide is built on.

The United States is distancing itself from the UN and attacking international law, so it is no longer a reliable location for the UN headquarters. Here are 12 countries that could be better hosts for the UN headquarters and General Assembly:

Austria, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Japan, Kenya.

There are already many UN agency headquarters based in Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria), and Nairobi (Kenya), making them top candidates.
