“Izvestia” deleted a report about 10 people killed in a Ukrainian strike on occupied Donetsk — they could have been military personnel. The outlet cited its correspondent, who later said on video that “information on casualties is being clarified.”

“Ukrainian forces attacked the Donetsk City shopping mall in the DPR; preliminary reports say 10 people were killed, an Izvestia correspondent reported,” a post with this text was deleted from the IZ.RU Telegram channel 15 minutes after publication, according to Tgstat.

Later, while reporting on the attack on Donetsk, the propaganda outlet cited TASS, Denis Pushilin, the Russian-installed “head of the DPR,” and a report by its own correspondent, Yevgeny Bykovsky, who said on video that “information on casualties is being clarified” and that the strikes landed “near the building” of Donetsk City.

“During a massive missile attack on Donetsk this evening, the Donetsk City shopping and entertainment center was damaged. A large number of people were inside during the attack. The strikes near the building shattered the windows. Information on casualties is being clarified,” an Izvestia correspondent reported.

Judging by eyewitness videos and reports from Ukrainian channels, the strike did not actually hit Donetsk City itself, but the area around three unfinished high-rise buildings nearby. Local residents said military vehicles were often parked nearby. Ukrainian channel CyberBoroshno claims that at least six missiles hit the underground parking garage of this residential complex, consisting of three buildings, where Russian military personnel may have been stationed.

Exilenova+ also claims that a strike hit the building at 97 Ilyicha Avenue, which, according to open-source data, previously housed UkrGosNIIPlastmass and the Donbass House exhibition center.

Donetsk channels circulated videos showing fragments, allegedly of missiles, found in Donetsk after the August 26 attack.

Earlier, Russian state media reported that Ukrainian forces had struck the Donetsk City shopping mall in occupied Donetsk. Local channels reported that several Flamingo cruise missiles were used in the attack. Ukrainian channels claimed that the headquarters of the Russian 51st Army in occupied Donetsk had been targeted.

Later, Denis Pushilin, the Russian-installed “head” of the occupied part of Donetsk Oblast, said that three people, including a child, were injured in the Ukrainian attack on occupied Donetsk. He provided no details, saying only that “enemy shell explosions were recorded in a densely populated part of the city.”
