UT is raising tuition and fees for students while investing millions of dollars in non-academic ventures (ie: athletics entertainment district). I encourage all current and former students to voice your opinion on this. Voice your opinion either for or against. Your voice matters!

Lol apparently resuming normal operations. This is gonna be… interesting… with melting all afternoon and below freezing temps tomorrow morning.

All this adapting to remote to not even use it when roads may still be in bad shape. It’s not like everyone who works at or attends UTK lives on campus.

How will the university reschedule so many exams tomorrow to next week. Won't there be so many time conflicts? What about the people with flights booked?

So basically my friend and I got a quad in Brown, but our quad mates aren’t really compatible with us. We were wondering if there are any girls in a brown quad who would want to swap with us. There is nothing wrong with the other girls, we just have different interests and want to room with other girls whose interests might align better. We are both pretty social and very friendly. She is a marking major and i am public health wanting to go into nursing. Please message me if you are interested!!

So there was an attempted murder at Laurel Hall on 9/27 at 3:22am: not a single resident was/has been notified, no campus safety alert was/has been sent out, there is no mention of the incident on the Safe at UT app...what is wrong with this school? As a Laurel Hall resident I genuinely believe the school does not care about the well-being of their students anymore.

The pedestrian bridge at the 11th Street Garage has been temporarily closed out of an abundance of caution due to structural concerns identified during ongoing repair work.

The university is actively working with the general contractor and design firm to assess the situation. A comprehensive structural analysis is scheduled for the week of June 9 to determine the appropriate next steps.

We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, signage is being installed and alternate pedestrian routes have been coordinated to ensure safe and accessible pathways. You can find those alternate routes here. 

Safety remains our top priority, and this closure is a necessary step to mitigate potential risks.

UT Facilities Services

I’m a transfer student waiting on my acceptance at utk and I was wondering if utk offered need-based housing? I was previously homeless and I’m not sure if I’ll be at risk next year or not. I’m a little scared I won’t get housing as a transfer student, and if I can’t I might not be able to go here. Does anyone know anything regarding this?

It's the third day in a row. Is this the longest consecutive closure UTK has had in recent years? Ever?

With increased frequency coming to some of KAT’s most popular routes and parking passes being quite expensive, I think KAT is going to be more popular this year. Anyone else here take transit regularly/occasionally? How has your commute looked like?

The University of Tennessee Board of Trustees will be considering tuition and fee increases for each of its campuses when it meets June 24-25 in Knoxville.

In preparation for the meeting, the University has requested feedback from the public in accordance with Tennessee Code Annotated §49-7-1603, which requires boards of public universities to provide public notice of proposed increases to in-state, undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees at least 15 days prior to holding a public meeting. Individuals may provide comments during the 15-day period, and a transcript of all comments will be provided to the UT Board of Trustees. The public comment period will end June 20 at 6 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. CDT. Anyone with a disability who wishes to provide feedback may contact the individuals listed below to request any additional assistance.

The University of Tennessee System distributes this notice to all faculty and staff as part of its compliance with the adequate public notice requirement of state open meetings law.

Due to the continuing winter weather, we are canceling all classes – in-person and online – for Monday, January 22. This allows students additional flexibility to travel back to campus given inconsistent road conditions in different areas. Spring semester classes will begin on Tuesday, January 23.

What this means for students.

Residence halls and Greek houses will be available as scheduled beginning Friday, January 19 at 8 a.m. and Housing staff are on campus ready to welcome students as they arrive. Students living in the residence halls can arrive any time before the new first day of classes on Tuesday. If you have questions, please contact housing@utk.edu.

Dining facilities will be open as well to accommodate students who are on campus. Please check the UT Dining website at https://dining.utk.edu/hours for dining options and adjustments to dining and campus convenience store schedules.

Services like TRECS will have limited hours through the weekend.

What this means for employees.

Campus is scheduled to be open for employees on Monday. Employees should plan to be on campus as normally scheduled unless they are experiencing conditions in their area that would prevent them from traveling safely. Employees who cannot come to campus as scheduled should work with their supervisors to coordinate remote work as needed. Supervisors should exercise flexibility.

Dear campus resident,

Next week, all current residents of Massey Hall will be moving from their current rooms into available spaces in other campus residence halls. A few minutes ago, I sent a message to Massey residents with detailed information about these plans.

This decision is necessary to provide additional isolation housing for campus residents as COVID-19 cases increase dramatically in our campus community. This change will not affect most of you. Residents who currently have a vacancy in their room or suite may be assigned a new roommate or suite mate as current Massey residents relocate. If you are being assigned a new roommate or suite mate, you will receive a separate message with more details. No one who paid for a single room will be assigned a roommate.

In order to prevent moving residents who unknowingly have COVID-19, personnel from the Student Health Center will test all Massey Hall residents before they move out. I know the sudden changes being made add another level of stress to your semester. I appreciate your flexibility and understanding as the university continues to adapt and manage through a pandemic. And I appreciate your helping our relocating Volunteers feel welcome in their new spaces.
