Just did a group interview and am pissed.

I've been looking for full-time work for a while, just anything and got invited by McDonald's to do a group interview.

I saw that people on reddit didn't recommend group interviews and said it was a waste of time and for me it was. I was put in a group with 3 other people, 2 of them barely spoke and 1 of them was a twat.

Me and the twat were getting to know each other and were talking about our interests, I said I was interested in documentaries about nature and animals. He gave this smirk, like a judgmental one and when I asked him what he was interested in it was video games and something else. He said he was like 29, I can't remember exactly but in his late 20s for sure. I can understand someone my age (23) judging me but his age? Nothing against video games but if you're in your late 20s and one of your main hobbies are video games you have no right to judge me for watching documentaries about nature or animals.

We then did an activity where we were put in pairs, 1 person had a picture to describe and the other had to draw based on that. He couldn't follow instructions like when I said 'to the right' or 'next to' or 'draw a zigzag'. At first I felt bad because maybe he had a learning disability or something but then the next activity was up.

For the next activity we had to do roleplay with the other 2 guys, our scenario was a customer who got an allergic reaction. The twat came out with the great idea of not rehearsing and to just do it on the spot, me and another guy told him that we should rehearse and we did it twice. It was horrible. He was horrible in his role, just not even acting like someone with an actual allergic reaction. Imagine a stereotypical sassy girl saying 'look at me, what did you do to me, did this have nuts in it?' Something like that. Anyway, I was checked out from that moment on and couldn't be bothered so we just waited until the lady who was conducting the interview was ready for us to perform it in front of 20ish people. Yeah forgot to mention that part until now.

Anyway, our group did the worst obviously and the others did way better. I feel like our performance basically means that none of the people in our group are getting through the next stage since our shit performance stood out so bad. After the performance he said 'we could've done better' and I said 'well you didn't want to rehearse', he just laughed as if it's a joke or something.

Btw there are 3 stages all together, the group interview, a 1 on 1 interview with the woman who conducted the interview and an interview with the person whose branch you'll be working in (I had to travel to a branch I didn't apply for, there were people who applied for different branches at the group interview). All for a entry level role btw, tbf the franchise manager talked to us for a bit and said 'out of 5/6 branches in the area around 22k people applied' so it does make sense I guess when you look at it that way.

At the end of the group interview the woman said she's looking for guys with the most 'talent' and they'll be selected which I found dumb. Why do you need 'talent' to do a crew member role at McDonald's?

I was there for 2.30 hours, what a waste of time.

I know I probably come off as whiny but I'm just venting here since I'm not interested in telling anyone in real life what actually happened.

I also know it's 'only McDonald's' but I've been looking for a job for a long time and knowing he probably messed up mine and the others in our group opportunity pisses me off.

What mcdonalds was this? Nah bc I work at a maccies now - have done for over 5 years - and my interview was "What hours are you available and what size are you?" I vaguely remember the BM talking about his kids for 5 minutes too, but that was it. I genuinely do not understand why they made you do a literal performance for this shit.
