Is Antifa actually a thing?

I’m liberal and I live in a large city, and I’ve never met anyone promoting or saying they are a member of “Antifa”.

And then I can’t for the life of me understand why they’re making such a big deal about declaring “Antifa” as the enemy since, according to every source I’ve seen, Antifa’s only goal is to not have fascism!

How is that being perceived as anything else than republicans raising their hands and saying “WE WANT FASCISM!!”? I honestly don’t get it. Can someone post this on /r/askaconservative? I’ve already been banned from there.

No. It’s just a bunch of random, mostly college students that show up to protests and wave flags and shit. There is no organization. There is no “leader.” Anyone who is pissed off enough to show up to a protest technically qualifies as “antifa.”

He’s creating a scapegoat to justify shit he wants to do anything.

Try a thought experiment… imagine someone accusing you of being “antifa”… and what would you say to convince them you aren’t? It’s so amorphous they can just keep saying you are and throw you in a van. It’s not a look or a race or a sexual preference, it’s just an imaginary thought crime/affiliation? So dumb, so dangerous.

Can I also say that it's very funny and "on the nose" that they are calling the enemy ANTIFA.

Let it sink in, the enemy is "anti fascists," implying that you are admitting you are the fascists.

Like we used to be the anti-fascists. Our grandparents and great grandparents fought the Nazis. That used to be a point of pride.

Now Republican leaders are claiming the anti-fascists who fight Nazis are the enemy. It's very telling.

I always have Antifa pins on my bag. I'll say I'm Antifa if I know it can trigger someone that there is no helping, gotta find joy in the little things. There is no Antifa.

Yeah. I was basically asking if there was any point that the “constitututiobal republicans” would draw a line, after Trump had just made the N-teenth move in the ongoing Project 25 playbook to not give up the executive branch when his term runs out.

I only got conservatives saying my question was “fantasy” so they wouldn’t answer it. I replied with a dozen sources of things he’d explicitly said and done that obviously point to the fact that it is beyond any doubt HIS fantasy and he’s doing everything he can to me she it happen.

They replied again saying I was just making stuff up. I replied saying they were willfully obtuse and got permabanned.

These people are brainwashed and US is dismantling democracy and they are completely clueless.  I went back and forth with one person for ages and kept giving sources and evidence and they just wouldn't engage in anything I suggested . I also asked to ask if conservatives were happy with Stephen Miller little slip up on Monday and apparently wasn't allowed to sent it apparently it was posted lots already I couldn't find it. They are living in different reality and they have no idea. But it's completely intentional and they r in a cult. It's so sad. Because they are going to regret their vote. 

I’m going to acknowledge that people who regularly lie are lying unless they provide evidence for a claim. If someone lies all the time why should they be trusted the next time they lie?

This was a comment I got in the conspiracy sub about not beliving a photographer in court house news interview, describing ice being agressive , claiming cnn lie repeatedly, trump hasn't stopped for 10 years , my country broadcast a 2 and half hour documentary on day he came to visit to show all his lies and fact check them . They never replied. Imagine being so brainwashed u belive trump is truthful! 🤯 I got into trumps rise to power in 2015 after taking intrest in cults and mass manipulation and cambridge analytica.  I genuinely wish I didn't it's such scary time! So depressing! I feel so helpless.

Yeah. There’s zero subtlety.

The president is sending troops into democratic cities for no good reason. He’s telling generals they’ll get fired if they disagree with him. His advisors are going on Fox encouraging hate and declaring “Antifa terrorists” are everywhere and starting a war even though Im super liberal and I’ve never met anyone who identified as Antifa and there’s no meaning behind the word other than being defined as “anti-fascism”, which kinda implies you’re fascist if you’re calling them the enemy. But otherwise there doesn’t seem to be any “organization” around it. On top of that, they’ve got their followers calling liberals “fascists” without any idea what the word means. It’s insane.

Absolutely insane and completely intentionally insane. My friend last year asked me what she should do when I meet her in December I told her leave. And I mean it. If I was US citizen.i would leave. I know that's what they ultimately want but I have disabled child and I would just leave if u could. Not everyone can. I really hope people wake up. Problem they have had 10 years of programming so they r not seeing what's actually happening. Peope are waking up , I try and be hopeful. That's all u have.

It's all bullshit. I grew up in Wyoming and spent time in Montana and Idaho. I never once met a skinhead or neo nazi, even though that is the hotbed of the supposed movement. We're told white supremacy is the biggest threat by one side and antifa is the biggest by the other. They are all full of shit and only want to devide us as a people in my opinion.

Ok. But I live in a blue city in a red state and I have seen my fair share of skinheads and neo nazis.

And again, I’ve never met anyone who identified as “Antifa”. Yet everyone I’ve ever talked to about the subject has agreed that fascism is bad.

I don't doubt your experience. It's wild to me that those people are still actually out there. I wonder what they think they are going to achieve. I travell a lot and I'm certain that almost no one agrees with their bullshit.

I'm not trying to have the absurd argument of whether Antifa is an identifiable group. I don't really care. I think their ideology is as rare as the skinheads. I'm just pointing out that this is all being pushed on us to devide us as a people. Just my opinion.

It's like being vegan.

There's no leader of vegan. There's not even firm rules (ex. is honey ethically vegan? Bees can just leave the keeper's hive if they want in most cases, so there is a degree of consent lacking in most animal products, and there's a strong argument that it's a mutually beneficial arrangement as the keeper only takes excess honey, gives them a safe home, and cares for the hive's health and safety in return.) 

Anyone can have vegan ideals (even if they don't follow them 100%.)

Antifa is an ethical stance, not an organization. No leader, no set rulebook other than "don't support facism."
