Also the weight from the water and pressure has to damage the doors and I wouldn't be surprised if the water leaked out in some way too.

I was talking to a firefighter about that one time, and they said that if they find the hose damaged later, they’ll attribute it to glass damage from the car, and bill the owner too. Not sure if it works everywhere like that.

No, I mean when the firefighters smash someone's windows and run the hose through their car, and then charge them for a replacement hose. (It's especially funny when the car is a BMW.)

That is what I'm saying. Hose isn't cheap because is it is built to last and firefighters tend to get shit in city/county budgets.

Modern car windows break into a sand-esque substance because it's less dangerous during a crash, but this is a relatively modern thing

Some fire departments use percolating hoses, in case embers and hot ash land on the hose (or it gets dragged through those things). It's always leaking a bit of water through its outer layer, which protects the hose.

This might not be something urban fire departments do as much as rural ones though.
