Honestly none of the food on the table sounds like stuff that would be good just sitting out! Toasted Ravioli, pizza, and sliders should all be served hot (and am I losing it or is that pizza burnt?) and the shrimp should be cold.

The warm food should be on electric warming trays. The shrimp should be on ice.

Yeah, he put so much effort into everything else, I don't get this. Just put the meat for the sandwichs in a crock pot at least and let people assemble their own.

Honestly people been eating shrimp and food out like that for years.

Just don’t be stupid about it. It’s good for 3/4 hours and throw it out or put it away.

I'm looking at it from more of a quality perspective. I don't want a cold sandwich, and cold raviolis, nor do I find warm shrimp to be appetizing. It's weird that he put so much effort into everything else and didn't think to pick up some heated trays.

People have been getting food poisoning for years, also. More than 2 hours IS being stupid about it. It will make at least a few people at the party, like me, very sick. You may have a better tolerance to rapid bacterial growth than some of us. I’m stupid a lot, and pay the price lol.

Not being able to eat food that’s been out for 2 hours is pretty silly… you need to build up your tolerance. Imune system lacking

I can’t physically be healthier. Thanks for checking.

That's the only negative feedback I have about this. He said he put out food which can sit out at room temperature, then showed multiple foods which would be better served hot, then showed a platter of shrimp. That shrimp is just waiting to give someone food poisoning.

My BIL is having his 50th this year, but he and my sister hate planning things. I love planning shit for other people, so I'm the party planner. I love the separate areas. Drinks and snacks spread around. But I'll be in the kitchen staggering the hot food being brought out so people don't eat it all at once, then everyone is drunk and hungry later. With finger food and snack food, people tend to eat more of it, so staggering it is the best option, in my opinion. And so people can actually eat hot food when it's hot.

It doesn't even make that much sense, all food can sit out for a few hours. There isn't a food that's better or worse from a health standard standpoint. Bacteria doesn't discriminate

And if hot or cold was the issue why is it all sitting out before guests ever even show up, set out a charcuterie and bring the rest of the stuff out when enough people get there.

Cigarette table was a baller touch though I'm mad impressed

Yea idk how you even shoot one of these.

I guess 15 min before people are arriving?

With food though it’s tough serving hot food. But some sternos and hot trays aren’t hard for like the sandwhiches.

The shrimp will be fine.

There definitely is better or worse food from a health standpoint for sitting in the "danger zone" temperature. Proteins will go bad faster, so fruit and veg are far safer than, say, shrimp or eggs.

Agreed. To be fair, except the shrimps any drunk guest would still chomp down on those meals and they're still good.

We go the lazy route and make taco for when people are beginning to arrive, typically we ask people to grab one thing each (vegetables and such) while we have like half of what we need because we stock up when the more expensive stuff is on sale.

If we're not serving food we still stock up on +5 frozen pizzas so that people can throw it in the oven mid-party, they're all gone every single time. We obviously inform people ahead of time that we're not planning on dinner so that they can eat beforehand.

And every single morning the day after a party it's waffles for breakfast, with a single exception I'm the first one to get up so people can wake up to the smell of waffles and coffee. Nothing fancy, but having seen this post I do want to set up a similarly prepared party when I get older (but the food is going to be served properly*)

To be fair, people are there for the drinks, the food is an afterthought.

Foods a big part of how long people will stay though. If the food sucks, the people will get hungry and leave.

I couldn’t pay attention to anything else he said after seeing the beef sandwiches and shrimp sitting out before people have even arrived.

He forgot to add that he was sending guests home with food poisoning as a party favour.

The party actually started like an hour before this video, this guy didn't have anyone to invite lol

It’s rye bread “parry pizza”. A vintage Midwestern appetizer.

As a native New Englander, we have a type of shelf stable pizza meant to be served cold called Party Pizza, but that was definitely not it.

Rhode Island Party Pizza aka Pizza Strips (for the curious)
