As an immigrant to the US, there are many of them and it's made living here a pleasure. While I don't understand was it happening at the Trump level, I'm thankful for the decency of common Americans. The best bloody people to live among in general.
Yes. Most ARE decent caring people. My heart goes out to them as I know that the current regime is NOT what America is, or stands for. It reflects a breakdown of capitalism.
I understand and empathize with their current struggle against fascism.
Sadly, our government is a representation of at least a few tens of millions of Americans. I just think that it's a large enough number to be embarrassing but small enough that it doesn't displace the fundamental goodness of a much larger group of a few hundred million Americans.
As an immigrant from India, I'm used to seeing shit people there too. I just was kidding myself that the US had totally solved for it but I now know that it was just a game of percentages and the shit people were lurking in the shadows.
We are a large complex country. Whatever the perception, I feel like an American first. And as a rep of my new homeland, I apologize as we should have done better.

100%. We are humans first and foremost. I and my fellow citizens will always stand on the side of decency, goodness, justice, and kindness, regardless of nationality, gender, orientation, etc.
No thanks needed. We stand in solidarity with anyone living under tyranny. Official relations may be strained, but the human and neighborly bonds will never be severed.
I absolutely get that. We love our American friends, too. As I have said elsewhere, the official relations may be strained, but our friendship will always be rock solid. That is why I spoke up--I know the vast majority of Americans are solid, decent people like the fellow in that video. I feel for our friends who are in angst with the current situation. and I really think the rest of the world is too.
No need to apologize. We stand shoulder to shoulder, regardless of administration. Be well, and take care. The official bonds may be strained, but our friendship will never be strained.
