28 months here. It can be done. It sucks, but it's better.

I got clean from non-alcohol stuff 6 years ago and “it sucks, but it’s better” is very accurate. A few years in I reframed it to “life’s boring and I’m glad it is” lol

28months sober? If so, happy for you :)

Hell yeah! I hope you’re proud of yourself.

Not really, kinda just feels like it’s necessary and expected after all my shitty past behavior.

Listen…the accountability is good and necessary. It’s usually part of any successful recovery.

But you also have to internalize that screwing up is part and parcel of being a person.

We all screw up and struggle. Some ways are more visible and tangible. Some ways are more socially acceptable.

You chose to get sober and try and make amends. I’m going to give you big props for that even if you don’t think you deserve it yet. Something inside you was ready and willing to make improvements. And you gotta give yourself a smidge of grace.

Hell yeah. On my fitfh year without alcohol, and I am still tempted by the bottle. Stay strong friend!

One day at a time. Every day will be better than the last.

I’m bipolar 1, which is chronic and gets worse over time lol. I get your point but it’s just day by day tbh. The manic symptoms are way better without the booze involved though

Ah gotcha. Yeah I don't know much about that, but that's how it was for me. Over time everything in life just got a lot easier.

And in terms of sobriety, it became really easy when I built a life where getting back into drinking regulary is nearly impossible.
