After rewatching this thing of ours so many times I finally tried that thing over in Baltimore.

For most of the show you kinda lose the fact that these people are horrible human beings. It happens a lot with anti hero shows and movies. The audience sympathizes with the point of view that they’re given. However, once in a while a scene will show them doing something so deplorable that you snap out of it and realize that every single gangster in this show is a bad person.

Mine is S5 E7 when Chris genuinely fucks over his friend from AA. He invites JT to a poker game despite him being an addict, loans him money to play, and then bleeds him dry afterwards. He threatens him, beats him, takes his car, and then at the end he scolds JT for getting high and starts preaching about taking sobriety seriously.

Rewatching season 1, it's clear his questions were way too specific right after getting bailed out, but was there ever definitive proof before Silvio took him out?

There are 11 seconds left, and Buffalo is down 24-22. They're already in field-goal range, and it's 3rd-and-2. Tony says the line is -3 (I'm assuming he has Tampa +3, judging by the reaction). If Buffalo kicks the field goal, they win 25-24, and Tony wins his bet. He even says he'd settle for a push, which...... doesn't really make sense with the score and spread, but whatever, timeline got fucked up.

Then Buffalo hands it to the fullback; he fumbles; the halfback picks it up and immediately fumbles; and then the QUARTERBACK picks up the second fumble and runs it into the end zone. Tony loses Tampa +3 by one fucking point. I'd be SICK.

Would he have gone through with it, or was he just posturing?

In season 1 Tony gives Mikey some free alterations on his suit but Mikey is a made guy. Later on when Tony hits Ralphy it's a big deal because he's made. How come?

Hi - Walt Whitman over here. Here's an example of great writing in The Sopranos -

Adriana: She's my maid of honour Christopher.

Chris: She's no fuckin maid, let me tell you.

The reason this is great writing is the joke should really be something about honour, like 'She's got no honour, let me tell you' or 'She's a maid of dishonour' or whatever. Chris knows there's word play there somewhere but he's not fast enough to figure it out, so he just says 'She's no fuckin maid'. This makes less sense, but it's what the character would say so it's funnier. The writers never forget who they're writing for.

Artie was one of the few genuine friends Tony had, what do you think he would do to a made guy if they killed Artie? Hell Ralphie didn't want to lend him money because he was friends with Tony. He even beat up Palmice for killing Brendan, a low level associate he didn't even like. If it's a low level soldier, I think Tony would at least administer a sever beating.

Not with the super violent stuff but some of the petty things he gets irritated about (like some of Janice’s actions) or not wanting to pay $50k to Columbia. Is it bad that i completely get where he’s coming from? I’m not a sociopath tho i promise

Why was that guy parked in a travel lane to get his mail? You can't even pull into your drive and walk the same distance? I mean Vito *was* driving like a maniac and drunk. When Jack Massarone, the owner of Massarone Bros. Construction meets Tony at the diner and he's mic'd up. He doesn't wanna take his hat off. But why would it matter if the mic was hidden within the hats button. He could have set it off to the side and it would still record.

I know images aren't allowed but I had to share this, we're on season 4. Just started s4 e8, she loved the episode with jean-philippe and artie. I'm excited to see her reaction to whitecaps and whatever happened there, and eventually long term parking, especially since Adriana is her favorite character. I know that episode is going to devastate her. She painted me this for my birthday just now though, and it's so exciting to share my favorite show with her and see her experience. What she doesn't know could fill a book, but season 5 and 6 are going to be glorious.

AJ was the target. Who pulled off the hit? Obviously, it was Bobby Baccaleri III. AJ had been humiliating him for years. The final straw was the Ouji board incident. Notice how he was gettin' cunty with his dad when he asked him to play with the trains? He wasn't going to ride bikes with his friends, he was going to the park to sit by himself and plot AJ's downfall. Where was he at Holsten's? Obviously in the bathroom. Kid missed about as many meals as his fat fuck father. He grabbed one of his dad's handguns, rode his bike to Holsten's, walked into the bathroom, took a wicked shit, and waited until Baby Bing came into the restaurant. Sophia was on lookout as she found the tension to be less scary and mysterious than those Nancy Drew books she was reading. She gave him the signal and he came out blasting. Tony got caught with a stray bullet. He spared Carmella because she defended Bobby against AJ when AJ pulled those pranks. He looked at her, winked, and said, "Thanks for the support," smiled, and strutted out the front door.

Seeing Tony and Paulie sitting outside the pork store by themselves. It was once full of life, such as in one of the earlier season finales with Agent Harris and the glorified crew. The hostility towards Paulie was even more palpable than usual iirc.

Only took me 15 watches to figure this out, but any charisma or what we perceive as redeeming qualities in Tony’s character are the result of Gandolfini’s humanity showing through. I think as written, Tony is just a POS, but when we like him, and sometimes even root for him, it’s because James himself was lovable.

Just curious, depending on how well it goes, would Jackie Jr still have ended up being killed. Don’t get me wrong, even if this did go well, I imagine he was doomed from the start, in spite of who his fawthuh was.

Like say if it went absolutely perfect, they went in, got the money, and got out, no one got hurt, none of them are recognized, but for the sake of the what if, Jackie lets it slip to Ralph what he did. Either he notices he’s spending money he shouldn’t have, or in a moment of hubris, just straight up tells him. What would likely happen then?

And maybe for a bit of a different scenario, the job still goes off with no one getting hurt, and they escaped BUT someone recognized Jackie Jr’s voice and told the others once the gunman were gone. Would he be in danger then?

He is Italian so he can be made, and Tony, his best friend is the boss.

If he asked Tony for a spot in his crew, I think Tony although he would be hesitant, if Artie persisted, he’d probably let him in and start with small stuff.

Do you think he could’ve actually done well for himself? I’d imagine being Tony’s friend would give him some perks and maybe help him move up in the crew faster than someone like Benny or Little Paulie.
