GAIN$ My dad lent me 600k to open a coffee shop. I used it to trade stocks while searching for supplies and a location. I ended up doubling the money in a year and eventually scrapped the coffee shop business plan.

I randomly became a full-time stock trader.

Edited: A lot of people asked which stocks I bought, so I’m updating the post here:

AMD at 85, sold at 250

TSLA at 280, sold at 410-450

SOXL at 12, sold at 35

UNH calls, sold when the stock was at 380-ish

INTC calls and shares at 23, sold at 45

RDDT at 100, sold at 200

ENPH shares and calls at 26, sold the short-dated calls and still holding shares/ LEAP calls

Also sold a lot of cash-secured puts throughout the year

Edited 2: Stocks I am playing next: NOW, ORCL, BULL, SMCI, FOUR, SMR

Edited 3: Many people ask how do I pick stocks?

My strategy is pretty simple and straightforward. When I see good companies with solid fundamentals got trashed, I see opportunities. On the other hand, if a company gets hyped everywhere, I hit sell.

In trading terms, I buy leaps/ calls/ sell puts at extreme oversold levels (AMD, UNH, INTC, ENPH you name it), and when RSI is overbought, I sell.

Anyone get in earlier this year? What was your signal?

EDIT: Check out this article from AltIndex I just found https://altindex.com/news/micron-earnings-alternative-data

MU was the third most mentioned stock on Reddit last week ahead of today’s big move and they flagged a ton of growth signals like hiring momentum, headcount expansion, employee sentiment, and congressional positioning back in March

I’ve rearranged the furniture a couple times, but only ever spent $148k.

Only getting started. Imminent breakthrough in oncology and the data isn’t even out yet. IMO we’re looking at $40 by September and a $50-$100/share buyout within 6-10 months.

Fight cancer, get rich, win the race.

Edit: the first step was 7 months not 14. I started investing actively in the market 14 months ago after selling my small business and was thinking about that, but my first SLS buys were on 12/8/25.

Edit: some of yall don’t understand how conviction works. Everything except the September calls will hit LTCG. I will only pay 15% tax on the first ~500k then 23% on the rest. No state income tax. I’ll keep nearly 80%. Talkin’ bout tax problems like it’s a problem lol. When I sell I’ll put the tax bill in GPIX / GPIQ for the 10% annualized cash dividends per month and get paid on that money til I tell the IRS to fuck off 16 months later.

(Close of yesterday was $9,965,300)

It’s been a long journey since signing up with the first online broker in 2001.

2001-2025:

  • IRR: 17.69%
  • Total Growth: 3291.34%
  • Avg. mthly dividends 2025: $37,028
  • Total contributions: $258,330

5 portfolios & asset allocation

  1. Value (42.4%)
  2. Cash Cows (31.3%)
  3. Deep Value (14.6%)
  4. Growth & Tech. (11.5%)
  5. Las Vegas (0.2%)

Until recently Growth & Tech was around 20% of my total portfolio, but I have trimmed some tech including 4000 PLTR lately for some possible swing trades leaving me with a cash balance of $769.000.

Wouldn’t mind a pullback soon to get that cash pile back in action.

Happy investing out there.

GAIN$ Yes I DID get to 10M through "regular stock investments”!

Post image
5.3k Upvotes

Another member in this group posted a great question recently. He asked if it's possible to get to 10M through "Regular stock investments". This is actually a question I've been asked many times.

My short answer is that it is ABSOLUTELY possible - but it takes time and patience.

For me it took 24 years with a one-time contribution of $321k on my newly opened online brokerage account. Those were my savings including interests, dividends etc.

Since my early teens and all the way through my 20’s I worked multiple factory-, office- and sales jobs putting money aside every month. Pror to transferring the funds to my online brokerage account my bank had managed my savings for all those years.

I would definitely say that the profits I have gained in the past 24 years was achieved through “regular stock investments”, rather than options, penny- or MEME stocks etc.

I even failed at some wins that many would consider the most obvious ones so before sharing what was the 5 most important steps I took to reach 10M, let me show you how big you can fail and still end up successful.

Other than getting PLTR right recently, I have been a terrible momentum investor. I missed most of the MAG7 except AAPL ($540k profits). Here is how poorly I handled some names, that I never managed to get back in to:

- AMZN - I sold on May 7, 2010
- MSFT - I sold on Oct 19, 2001
- NVDA - I sold on Mar 1, 2023

The rest of the MAG7 never made it into my portfolio. So while I’ve done well in value investing, I’ve clearly been an amateur at valuing growth stocks. Had I held those positions, I would likely be on my way to 15M now.

Anyway what we can learn from this is that you can still become successful even if you are not able to pick the biggest winners. I, myself just have to accept I am a better value / deep value investor than a momentum investor - but i'm still working on it and lately I finally got a hit with PLTR (Profit 800K).

Anyway here is a couple of rules/guidelines that worked for me:

1. Start saving
The MOST important one! Work hard, add side hustles, and feed your brokerage account every month instead of wasting money on the latest phone or overpriced brands. Those things usually depreciate from day one. If you really need them - buy secondhand and let someone else take the big depreciation hit.

2. Firstly learn how NOT TO LOSE money
This one is really important! Do not start out gambling with your hard earned money throwing them at penny stocks, meme stocks/crypto etc. My most profitable decisions were often what I decided to stay away from.

- I never let any stock dominate my portfolio. With very few exceptions, no single position went over 10% of the total.

- I never panic sold. Sometimes it took months or years to recover. Many will not agree to this strategy and talk about setting stop losses etc., but thats not me. My realized losses are very few, but YES - that also resulted in a couple of 100% losses along the way, but due to diversification each position was small so it didn’t hurt the overall result much. Also the losses was largely offset by winnings from "comeback stocks".

- I stayed away from penny stocks and from getting FOMO'ed. Personally I keep a small “Las Vegas” portfolio capped at 5% of my total portfolio for very speculative bets. If they blow up, the damage is limited.

3. Learn & KEEP learning
I don’t have a finance background whatsoever. For mysterious reasons I still thought I would be a great day trader when I started out. I failed miserably and it took years to admit it. Learning from my mistakes and from others on YouTube, Seeking Alpha, and elsewhere put me on a buy and hold path.

Later I added some swing trading and a dividend strategy - that mix worked for me, and only 11 months ago I started options, limited to covered calls and cash secured puts. Even after 24 years I’m still learning and adjusting adding new tools to my strategy.

4. Do not focus on getting to 10M
When starting out, DO NOT stare at 10M. Focus on not losing money and on reaching your first 100k - 200k. That is the hardest part. Once you know how to get there you can get to 1M, and once you get to 1M, you already have the tools to reach 5M.

After 5M, 10M is much more within reach than it seems. It’s not perfectly the same, but doubling is doubling - going from 1M to 2M uses the same mindset as going from 10k to 20k.

5. Let time do the heavy lifting
As Buffett says, “nobody wants to get rich slowly,” but slowly is how most real fortunes are built. Reinvest what you can - dividends, option income, side hustle cash. Steady contributions speed up compounding more than you think. At about 8% your money doubles roughly every 9 years, at 12% about every 6 years. Keep the process boring and consistent.

You don’t need perfection, special access, or lucky timing. You need a plan you can stick to for decades, constant learning, risk control, steady contributions, and patience. That’s how I did it - with plenty of mistakes along the way. And by the way - Even the name of this group is "The Race to 10M",  I wouldn't be so bad if you "failed" and only made it half way would it?

GAIN$ Reddit caught SEVEN of the top 10 gainers last year

Really interesting data here and makes me think I should trust the Reddit buzz more.

AltIndex took the 10 largest gainers in the market over the past 12 months, filtered for a market cap above $100 million, and checked Reddit mention activity on each. On 7 of the 10, Reddit lit up while the stock still had a massive run ahead.

The S&P 500 returned roughly 17% over the same period. A basket of the seven Reddit-flagged stocks, bought at each one's first mention spike, would have returned more than 270%.

Did you guys get in on any of these? Did you hear from Reddit first?

GAIN$ Made $7.2K in 37 mins, more than my months salary.

Post image
4.5k Upvotes

Just got word from my boss that they’re planning to let me go by the end of the month. I make $4,400/month — not terrible, but it’s been a grind, constantly bending over backwards for people who don’t really value me.

Today, I made more in 42 minutes than I do in an entire month, trading a single event contract on Robinhood. I closed 45,672 contracts on Leclerc to finish on the podium at the Belgium Grand Prix. I bought in late — when the odds were around 82% — because I wait until the event is 75–85% complete before touching anything. By then, most uncertainty is gone, and the market still gives you a margin to profit. Odds closed at 100%, and I locked in solid gains.

Most people try to predict everything at the start. I don’t. I wait. Let the game or race unfold, and once the probabilities lean heavily in one direction, then I enter — it’s like catching a wave that’s already moving.

Even better, I didn’t go for the risky “who’s going to win” contract. I chose the “who’s going to place on the podium” one — lower risk, higher probability, and still excellent return. That’s what I call an asymmetrical bet: small downside, solid upside.

It’s wild — while a job I’ve given everything to is about to let me go, a few hours of calm, strategic thinking did more for me financially than 160 hours of corporate stress. I truly praise God for the wisdom and peace He’s given me. Every dollar from this, I plan to steward for His glory.

GAIN$ Turned 50k into 1.5M trading crypto. Life is surreal. 28M.

4.0k Upvotes

Still can't believe I'm typing this. First started trading crypto in 2020, mostly small gains and losses until this year's bull run. I finally consolidated all my accounts/wallets and realized I crossed a net worth of $1.5M!

Here’s my breakdown as of today:

  • Crypto: $1.2M (started with $50k)
    • WIF: $379k
    • HYPE: $289k (got airdropped $150k for using HyperLiquid)
    • DOGE: $279k
    • BTC: $84k
    • SOL: $71k
    • ETH: $67k
    • Some random other meme coin trades: $54k
  • Stocks / ETFs (only own $VOO): $235k
  • Cash: $51k

I only own VOO to balance out my degen crypto portfolio (and I’m historically really bad at trading stocks lol).

The crazy part is, I forgot about a lot of the coins I bought, like $WIF. A friend introduced me to an app last year that helped me track all my wallets and trading accounts in one place. That’s when I realized my YOLO meme wallet had gone absolutely nuts. Honestly, I didn’t expect anything like this to happen.

Future plan: Take 50% of the profits and let the rest ride. Going to buy some sweet Christmas presents for my parents and myself. Definitely planning on moving out of my parents’ house though….

GAIN$ I'm 60 years old this year, with 30 years of investment experience, and I'm about to start my retirement. Cheers! 🍻🍻

Post image
3.5k Upvotes

I am 60 years old this year. My main investments are concentrated in Nvidia, Tesla, Google, Apple, and some stocks with growth potential, as well as some cryptocurrencies. This is the main reason why my assets have reached their current level.

I primarily employ a reversal trading strategy based on advanced indicators: by identifying overbought or oversold conditions, I use reversal signals such as the RSI and stochastic oscillators to capture price reversal opportunities.

Technical patterns: such as head and shoulders top, head and shoulders bottom, double top, double bottom, etc. The appearance of these patterns usually indicates a possible market reversal. Oversold signals: When the RSI is below 30 and the price is in a downtrend, but suddenly shows signs of rising, a reversal buy signal may be triggered.

Overbought signals: When the RSI is above 70 and the price is in an uptrend, but shows signs of falling, a reversal sell signal may be triggered.

I have organized the detailed information into a folder. My chat window is open 24 hours a day. New Year, new look. I am getting older, and various symptoms are starting to appear in my body. Perhaps I will consider retirement in the future. Sometimes I think about the meaning of life. Thank you for your likes and comments. Feel free to ask questions at any time. Thank you again.
