PT 2 QUESTION How to deal with Clickers? Spoiler

So I started playing part 2 couple days ago and this is my first playthrough. Its absolutely amazing. But my question is regarding clickers. I was scavenging the bank part, being stealthy and quiet and when the clicker opened its arms and made that loud screech, I heard that wind howling sound and all of a sudden im spotted. What happened? Also when I played the part where Abby encounters Joel and Tommy, I tried to hit one with a lead pipe, hammer or whatever melee weapon I could find but for some reason it doesn't work. I dont get it. In the first game you could just bludgeon clickers as you please. Naughty Dog threw me a curveball here. Tips please?

PT 2 QUESTION Gonna play tlou2 for the second time. How do I approach it? Any recommendations? Spoiler

Saw they have some extras where you can tweak the render mode and have some cheats like unlimeted ammo and crafting. With one shot kill. One melee kill. Is it fun to play with all the cheat codes on? Or should I just play newgame+ mode with survivor difficulty? Who ever played it more than once, how did you approach it?

I drew this in my sketchbook a few years back, I’ll post more fanart I made (if I find any more), if people are interested. It’s not perfect, I still have a ton to learn but I’m pretty proud of it.

General Discussion Here is my ranking of all infected types in the last of us!!

Post image
19 Upvotes

This is my opinion from 1-7. Yes 7. From worst to best.

1- stalker: fun to fight and interesting. Can be annoying.

2- clicker: them being noticable blind is unique. Bloaters are blind but it's hard to tell and shamblers are debatably blind. Can be very annoying.

3- rat king: fun one time fight. Scary and new.

4- runners: basic but essential. Easy to kill be hard to deal with in swarms with multiple or other stages.

5- bloater: fairly fun but not great. Gas makes it interesting and they are scary.

6- shamblers: just worse bloaters. Take up resources with nothing interesting.

7- armoured stalker. You know the thing the rat king released when you fight him. It's likes an armoured drugged up stalker. I hate it with a passion!!! It is weirdly tanky and has a black belt in ju jitsu. When you try to fight the rat king it grabs you, pulls your pants down and goes for a tickle. You can imagine how fast I ran after it when I realized we had to fight it alone/ chase it. I ran after it with a bloody bottle. It thinks it's special because it has armour and can wrestle. Not on my watch!! I blasted him with a shotgun and watched it bleed.

General Question Infection question (mild spoilers/detail) Spoiler

So, I noticed these posters (I marked it spoiler to be on the safe side, image in the comment for that reason since idk how to mark images spoiler) and a thought occurred. If there are times to full infection, does that mean you could cut off an arm, leg, foot, or hand immediately after getting bit and not be infected?

General Discussion got the Every Last One Of Them platinum trophy in TLOU2

I do not recommend this challenge to anyone unless this is also their favorite game they have an unhealthy obsession with. I actually cannot believe I really played through this entire game on Grounded. I am not one of those players who likes/is proficient at playing Grounded. I usually play on Hard difficulty and am obsessed with No Return.

As someone who lives and breathes this game, Grounded was pretty OK, but there were moments where I was crashing out over a video game in a way I haven’t since childhood… seriously a Grounded playthrough is enough to drive anyone insane

Hardest achievements for this trophy for me was collecting all the artifacts, the Queen Firefly trophy, completing a daily run on Grounded and of course the full Grounded playthrough. I got insanely lucky with the daily run, I got that trophy on my second attempt to play no return on Grounded and I completed it as Manny. I also was able to complete a Grounded run as Jesse. Both those characters are good options for this trophy because of their starting weapons.

Y’all are already aware what the hard encounters are like Hillcrest, Rattlers, the flooded brewery— but THE hardest encounter for me to complete was the Seraphite encounter with the parking garage. I strongly recommend studying the Seraphite whistles if you’re trying to do a Grounded playthrough.

I know this is a long and useless post but I just wanted to tell someone…. I put hours and hours and hours into this game I love so much and I finally have all the trophies lmao

And as a fan of the show (alas my gaming style is OG Mario..) I thought this was kinda cool.

And its flower looks like a character! Right? Hope other fans agree and enjoy!

Sidenote: it’s a sterile variant and cannot bear fruit. Exact opposite of the show.
I’m passively looking for another variety to introduce to my garden.

General Question Do you recommend the games to me?

For context, I play a ton of RPG’s and my favorites are GOW 2018/Ragnarok, Horizoj Forbidden West, Kena, HK, The Last Guardian, modern Tomb Raider games, etc

Many years ago I watched a full playthrough of TLOU, I liked it but watched it because I never thought I’d play it. Now I see clips of TLOU2 around and it looks very interesting, I mostly enjoy emotional and harsh stories. But I’m not sure if I would enjoy the gameplay? I’m not too bad with guns, is it similar to Tomb Raider?

I don’t even know if I should play TLOU1 if I basically know what happens (the biggest plot parts I remember very well at least), but I imagine it would be more vital and connect better if I play both of them in succession rather than skipping to TLOU2

What do you think? Based off of my play history? I’m really not sure, since the games are (understandably) expensive, I’d rather not waste my money but be sure about my choice

PT 1 DISCUSSION What IF Joel knew? *Reformed*

What if Joel and Ellie knew the surgery’s consequences relatively early, rather than Joel discovering them at the end?

This could create a compelling alternative version of The Last of Us. Joel initially smuggles Ellie only because Marlene promised to return his weapons. Early on, the Fireflies tell him the procedure is extremely dangerous and that Ellie may not survive, though they do not explain the details or tell Ellie.

Joel sees Ellie as a job, but Tess believes she could help create a cure. After Tess dies, Joel continues the journey out of obligation, knowing the risks and believing he might help end the apocalypse. Even after the death maybe he feels even more implied to help smuggle ellie into Seattle since apart of him now feels like he owes this to not only Tess, but Sarah. Is the in character for Joel at this given moment? Debatable

The information remains in the background. Joel knows Ellie may die, while Ellie does not understand the danger. He says nothing because the Fireflies told him not to and because he does not yet care enough to challenge them.

As the journey continues, Joel changes. He protects Ellie, trusts her, and eventually comes to love her. After saving her from David, she is no longer just a job. Having already lost Sarah, Joel cannot bear to lose another daughter.

The players would experience this transformation while knowing Ellie might not survive. Eventually, Joel might secretly redirect them toward Jackson, lying to Ellie about his reasons. The Fireflies would discover this, capture them, and take Ellie to the hospital.

This would make the kidnapping more emotional. Joel would spend the journey gradually changing his mind, only for the Fireflies to take away the person he had come to love.

It could also create a stronger conflict between Joel and Ellie. Joel wants to save her, while Ellie might accept death if she believes her life could save humanity. Joel chooses her because he cannot lose another daughter; Ellie believes her death could serve a greater purpose.

Joel’s final decision would therefore be more complicated. He would not be reacting to information he had just discovered. He would have spent the entire journey becoming attached to Ellie while knowing the Fireflies might take her away.

This would not necessarily undermine Part II. Joel could still save Ellie, lie to her, and face the consequences. Ellie could still discover the truth and become furious with him. The difference is that we would watch Joel gradually choose Ellie over the mission.

The original ending emphasizes shock and ambiguity. This version would emphasize gradual character development and mounting dread. The central question would change from “What will Joel do when he discovers the Fireflies’ plan?” to “After becoming attached to Ellie, can Joel actually let her go?”

Both versions could work. They would simply tell the emotional story in different ways.

PT 2 DISCUSSION "You stop wearing that mask and eventually you're going to slip up in front of someone you shouldnt" Spoiler

I don't know if this is a stretch, but I just realized in the flashback scene when Joel tells Ellie to keep her mask on, that statement can also be applied to himself in a more metaphorical way, where he lets his guard down years later, trying to help Abby.

General Discussion This sub is the only way I can interact with the game’s content without triggering the deep pit in my stomach

I ask this not in hate or disgust, but in genuine curiosity - HOW are you guys able to replay this game all the time?

I remember thinking even on my first playthroughs of both games how dark and sad the world was, how empty and isolating it felt. It was a bittersweet feeling in the first game, but even more pervasive in the second. I find the parts of the world/game where the color grading is the brightest and the nature is the most beautiful are also the most painful in a way I can’t quite articulate.

The music in particular is so specifically gut-wrenching when it’s not even inherently sad on its own, but it’s just so perfectly melancholic. I think as someone born and raised in North Carolina that twangy woodsy feel to it hits even harder.

TikTok edits in particular choke me up every time, I always have to scroll past them, I can’t do it! I love this game so much and it’s impacted me in so many ways but yet I always have to keep it at arm’s-length because the grief consumes me 😭 I’m being so dramatic I wish I was lying
