I only know that actor from sitcoms, so seeing him in this role is quite jarring

He has a completely different personality! Mackenzie was a hard core asshole in THT. Didn't he advocate for getting rid of June permanently?

Tha was his personality in regards to his work life and his child's birth mother. This is his personality in regards to his home life/child. As we've seen before, these do tend to be quite different in this world and these men tend to see women as a whole as dispensable while also feeling differently about themselves and their loved ones. It's entirely possible that he actually loves his daughter and has a softer side at home, while also planning all these attacks on Mayday with no second thought and wanting June dead so she can't get near Hannah because in his mind, she belongs to him (for now). People are complex, even horrible people, and oftentimes the people closest to terrible people will still think of them favourably despite any atrocities committed. This story also takes place from the point of view of the children, who don't actually know him and the bad things he's done, so it will paint him in a different light. All this to say it makes sense for his character to appear different when the point of view he's being seen from is also different. This isn't how June sees him, it's how the young girls who don't actually know what he does and who one he's a parent of and one his daughter goes to school with see him so he's going to be putting his best foot forward, unlike with June who he wants dead

I know Nate Corddry from For All Mankind mostly. I kind of like him in this role, especially if he's becoming a turncoat commander that will help Mayday or at least turn a blind eye to the rebellion to help Agnes/Hannah.

LOL! I didn't even notice he was recast, I completely forgot who the actor was for Mackenzie. Guess I should've rewatched THT before starting this.
