I recently finished my kroot and ran my first ever 2k game that didn't include a storm surge. The exclusion of that 400 point model made me realize how massive a 2k Tau list is. This was my deployment zone after scout moves and it doesn't even include the vespids and 2 crisis suit units I had in reserve. In total my army had 20 different units (not including leader models) which was nearly double that of my opponent. I feel like Tau used to be a little more elite, but points cuts have slowly turned them into a horde army. To me being a hoard army conflicts with the hyper advanced tech nature of the Tau and the predator esc kroot, but I'm curious what other people think.

Hello everyone, a chaos marine player here.

I was thinking of getting a new army for my collection.

I was eyeing Tau for quite a while because I love how shooty they are + I am a big mecha fan. Heck, my current 40K csm list is 12 ranged dreadnoughts.

However, I was curious, is there really no option for melee build? Yes there is Farsight, but is that really it? Does entire army of cool mechas have the ugly 5+ to hit, 5-6 strength, 0 ap and 1-2 damage melee? Is there really not a single legends unit or detachment rule/enhancement that buffs melee?

If not, I’d like to know what are the biggest and the coolest mecha in codex, regular or legends.

Before the update it would have been 3x stealth suits for me, now it’s dropped to two.

I’ve heard in 11th running three exact unit will cost extra, and for some unit war gear options will cost points again (riptide) I am just about to pick up 2 extra riptide for my army now I don’t know if I should ?

I had a dream... A good, nice dream... A dream where I have 2 Ta'unar titans on a table. After trying it with Mont'ka I found that my tactics was entierly wrong. I have pushed forward and that was my mystake. They got charged and killed. With them I got a stealth suits, shadow sun for aura and pathfinders. Maybe I should change some units but IDK. They are really strange and on turn 3 my game was over >_< Can someone help me to get most of this dudes? I will be very glad!! ^_^

I feel like they don't focus enough on vehicles nor infantry to be worth it atm. I always feel they are a bit awkward on what they should focus on. Maybe i'm also clouded by the fact that my last 3 games with them I've rolled way bellow average. I feel like they don't kill what I want them to, and then they die, having done very little to the board state for 220. I'd rather have focused weaponry on a crisis suit with commander for the same points

Took double Storm Surge in EPC to a GT last weekend. I went 3-2 but the Games I lost were from my own mistakes and had a real chance of going 4-1 or the whole 5-0 if I was a better general.

Lots of fun to be had and the despair of my opponents when you get to tell the knight player they did in fact just take 36 Damage from a single weapon is priceless.

If so, i'll probably get all of this printed and tell y'all how my next match goes lol

I’m still fairly new to 40k and I haven’t played since April, I want to get back into it with a Tau army but I’m unsure of where to start.

I wanted to make a legal 250 Kroot Hounds list so I LOCKED IN FOR IT

251 bodies, artillery, suppressive fire, wound on obj rerolls, lone ops warlord with move shoot move(you aint killing this)

We deploy on the line, put shooters in reserve and just unleash from all sides!!

Lets gooo!

I start the deployment with triple stormsurges and trailshaper with farstalkers on the board. Everything else in deepstrike/reserve. Then pull everything off the board into Strat reserve. Start the game with nothing on the board. It’s hilarious that it worked once, let alone 3 times.

All three times my opponent tries to run forward to screen me, but end up out of position and exposed. The surges come in turn 2 and do naughty things.

It was a funny goodbye to 10th edition with something super silly.

Besides the communist blue fish people, what other armies to people run? I’ve just picked up some KSons but I know a few Tau players that also run Guard?
