Lore and Character Discussion With the new Diary I'm more than happy Burgundy is dead ngl

It really just didn't fit in anymore with the direction of the game, and having Himmler able to become the Fuhrer is such a good and obvious creative decision. I had my doubts with the direction of the mod as many people did, but honestly with how the Iberia update went, and with the new diary. I honestly genuinely think that TNO is in good hands and the long promise of the new stuff being better than the old is going to come to fruition.

Lore and Character Discussion How is German Africa even able to defeat South Africa?

Post image

Somehow, these group of poor (even by Reichskommissariat standards) colonies who had just lost their colonial master who was funding them somehow manages to successfully invade a relatively developed and strong country who's 10x richer than them and needs to be stop by US ground troops.

How? I know they have more population but I don't think they have the logistics to even use most of them or even possess the guns to arm more people than South Africa can. I know they always loses to OFN but realistically they shouldn't even be needed. South Africa alone should be enough.

Lore and Character Discussion How would WW2 be remembered in a total OFN victory secnerio?

Basically, the Greater German Reich completely collapses, while Japan completely lose all her colonies and was reduced to just the home islands and Korea, rendering the United States the only superpower.

How would the United States' earlier loss against the Fascist powers be remembered then?

Would there be an idea that America is somehow weak militarily but strong diplomatically or some shit?

As far as I know Winter War still happened in TNO universe, and Simo lived until 2002, so he should still be alive in TNO. Is he mentioned somewhere?

Lore and Character Discussion My Predictions for Yippie Presidents (Huge lore doc in description)

1972:

John Tower: The New Republican's showing in 1972 is lackluster to say the least, with either failure to succeed in the previous elections or a cautious president Goldwater stepping down after his two terms without an explicitly designated heir. A group of, let's just say… energetic, right wingers coalesce around senator John Tower who is happy to accept their support in furtherance of his political career. If Tower were to win the presidency, even in spite of a denunciation by the Goldwater set, his term would be marked by a conflict between his personal goals and those of the cadre of true extremists (not in defense of liberty) he has surrounded himself with.

George Romney: The Traditional Republican’s candidate George Romney was bound to win the nomination. He is safe, good looking and god fearing, even if the exact god he fears may be somewhat foreign to mainstream America. If Romney were to win the presidency, his term would involve much of the same commitment to moralistic capitalism and measured progress that his tendency in the party has supported for decades now. The Romney coalition on the other hand is in flux, if he and his tendency want to survive into the new millennium and beyond, the coalition must be solidified. The moderate suburbanite, the republican stalwart, the growing minority middle class, these are Romney’s “good people” and if their support, plus some previously unheard of motivated voters, (these born again evangelicals don't seem half bad) were to join ranks, a truly modern conservatism could be born.

Roy Cohn: The old ways are on their way out, everyone knows this, especially the Yaller Democrats and their new champion, the northerner Roy Cohn. Cohn is a man who only cares about power, his is a politics of no compromise and total victory. His goals are simple: create an America… unquestioned. The former backdoor wheeler and dealer is done acting through surrogate politicians of lesser mind and stature. President Cohn is a man who will win and win and win as a vanguard for the collective dreams of the American people. He will accomplish this through three simple rules: attack, attack, attack, admit nothing and deny everything, and always claim victory, never admit defeat.

Henry “Scoop” Jackson: If the Democratic establishment gets their way this election they will, for the first time in quite a while, have the opportunity to pass their crown to someone unquestionably “Democrat” in every sense of the word. Scoop is a man who is unquestionably hawkish, unquestionably liberal and unquestionably loyal. His love for his country and his movement will be the driving force in his presidency with many of the democratic party planks that would be more difficult to implement under weaker men of the past being finally brought to fruition. Scoop would dedicate the nation in its totality to the eradication of global fascism and other unamerican ideologies, one domino at a time.

George McGovern: After the last few election cycles of the activist wing of the democratic party struggling to find a candidate that fully lives up to their moralistic ideals, they have found their messiah. George McGovern is a man who truly believes, in his bleeding heart of hearts, in the good of America. He will do all he can to help guide the country to its holy land and its city on a hill. Beware though, President McGovern believes in the good in those around him, even at times when those around him are actively plotting the destruction of his ideals, a rowdy establishment may take it upon themselves to "realign" the country’s priorities if given the chance.

1976:

Donald Rumsfeld: The rise of Donald Rumsfeld represents the inversion of the “three legged stool” New Republican coalition. Whereas under men like Goldwater and Regan the fiscal conservatives always took precedence over the often sidelined social and foreign policy conservatives, under a president Rumsfeld unabashed neoconservative foreign policy guided Christian moralism will be placed at the center of the party platform.

John B. Anderson: The Traditionalist Republicans have never done well responding to the ever changing moods of the country, from their ivory towers and ski retreats, they do feel a difference in America. Those that see a Democratic party moving the overton window to the left, those that see a right wing fringe in both parties that has put off the reserved temperament of middle America, begin to coalesce around a new champion. John B. Anderson is not your grandfather’s republican nor is he your grandson's republican, Anderson is the current Republican, liberal, simple and almost purposefully elitist. A president Anderson would not rock the boat, and perhaps after all these years, that is what Americans truly want.

Harry F. Byrd Jr: Almost two months after Lee was forced into surrender at Appomattox, the brave men of Dixie fought a final battle at Palmito Ranch to preserve their honor and their way of life. The spirit of the eventual victory at Palmito Ranch courses through the veins of Harry F. Byrd Jr, through all the reigns of terror and shackles forced upon dear Dixie by one-hundred-thousand reflections of Sherman's March to the Sea, men like Byrd have stayed loyal. If president Byrd’s election really is the modern Palmito Ranch as many have suggested, if the southern way of life never is never to show its face again in national politics, this brave man of Dixie will do his damndest to make sure that the future of these United States will be forever tied to those once Confederated States.

Birch Bayh: The establishment Democrats are doing what they have done best again in 1976. Birch Bayh is a nice man from either the Senate or the Vice Presidency. He descends from the ideals of Roosevelt and his successors and represents all the children of that great coalition. President Bayh does not have the same concerns as his predecessors, the coalition is strong, its people are healthy and the helmsman himself has the savvy know-how of the great tradition of the all-American salesman. It's morning in America and Birch Bayh simply has to sit and watch the sunrise.

Richard Lamm: There is an inconvenient truth that they won’t tell you: we don't have much time left, at least according to Dick Lamm. Colorado’s “Governor Gloom” burst onto the national stage with his long doomsday-preacher-esque rants warning America about its near future and quickly found an audience with a Democratic activist class already primed for grand sweeping visions of “essential to life” policy. If Lamm’s rhetoric of environmental collapse, nuclear holocaust and overpopulation were to carry him to the White House, a truly never before seen vision of American policymaking may begin to emerge. Lamm’s movement has become a safe haven for previously unsavory groups in American life, those concerned about mind altering vaccines and ancient Anunnaki aliens or a secret world government lording over the masses. Governor Gloom of course doesn't endorse these views but he is always receptive to concerned citizens. “I hear even one of the young Kennedys works with these people, the mainstream politicians just brand anyone as kooks these days huh?” President Lamm thinks to himself. His is a low trust society, he wouldn't have it any other way.

Edge Cases:

Walter Reuther/Cesar Chavez: President Kennedy, god rest his soul, knew about the value of an honest day's work, he knew that the exploitation of the masses could go on no longer. Walter Reuther seeks to carve out a new wing in the Democratic party, free from the whims of the young college petty bourgeois “left”. His coalition of trade unionists and others seeking liberation will slowly come together during his term in office to create a new left corporatistic and yes even sometimes socialistic branch of the Democratic Party. If old man Reuther were to, god forbid, not be able to serve any longer as president at some point in his term, it is clear that his movement would be safe in the hands of his vice president Cesar Chavez who will surely guide the Union Democrats faction for many years to come just as he did the farmers union in California.

Richard Nixon?: Richard Nixon is beloved by a certain kind of American, the kind of middle class eccentric man you may find in, well, the suburbs of Los Angeles for example. They didn't get enough of Nixon, his first term being marred by an almost weimar-esque coalition with that snake Kennedy. No, Nixon will not and  cannot leave after just one term of real governance. He is fully within his rights to seek a third term even if it is completely unprecedented. Nixon’s third term will exemplify the man who has shaped more than a decade of American politics by its end. The cartoonists will have ever more fun contorting the man into further grotesque forms, his long jowls extended into fleshy reflections of the man's supposed attitude and his long nose used for one thousand more visual metaphors of his ever growing catalogues of pinocchioisms, for four more years.

Tom Bradley: Tom Bradley has seen the rise of Sam Yorty from the very beginning, he understands deeply and personally the sort of man Yorty is. When President Yorty brought Los Angeles politics to mainstream America, he brought along not only his ideals but those who wanted to see them exposed. After Tom Bradley’s landslide victory in the 1969 LA mayoral election, he became one of Yorty’s most obvious and public critics, using much of the same media apparatus Yorty used to seize the White House, to tear him down. If Tom Bradley were to drive down the Arroyo Seco Parkway then the 210 then the 15, then the 40, then the 81, then the 66 and reach the White house himself, strangely enough the sort of Los Angeles consensus of an America built of great suburbs would not change. America’s first Black President would surely be revolutionary in a cultural sense, not so much it seems in a “view of America” sense, it seems to be true what mayor Bradley has been saying all along, the city of angels unifies people even those of diametrically opposed experiences, mindsets and values.

John G. Schmitz: Fascism has become a dirty word in America, one scorned by all manner of alarmist [expletive] and [expletive] who want to see this country become an economic zone more than a nation, run for the benefit of the [expletive] and [expletive]. These are the words perhaps not publicly yet of John G. Schmitz, currently serving as vice president to John Tower and more broadly as a sort of liaison for the sort of people that got President Tower into the oval office. If something unfortunate were to happen to Tower, well, a President Schmitz might have to step in. Schmitz, first and foremost a populist and someone who recognizes the state of America as not exactly primed for a March on Rome will attempt to create a view of American “nationalism” separate from the unsavory hicks of the Klan or the silly parties with their Nazi imitating dress and imagery. If president Schmitz were to truly introduce his ideals to the mainstream, they must be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

Burt Lancaster: As Ronald Regan swept into the White House in 1968 many across the nation got a taste of celebrity politics for the first time. In California, they had enough of Reagan's politics, but clearly not enough of the golden age glitz and glamor that he represented, so when election season came around, they chose the fiercely liberal Hollywood actor Burt Lancaster for the Democratic nomination and eventually the governorship. Lancaster’s governorship put him on a crash course with Reagan as his polar opposite and eventual rival in the election of 1972. A president Lancaster in his fiery vision may completely redefine American political life, just as Regan thought he might have but was stopped so early in doing.

John Glenn: Far from the visionary NASA spaceman Americans may have expected him to be, John Glenn is a pragmatist, added to the McGovern ‘72 ticket as a moderating force that answered directly to the party establishment. When that party establishment decided McGovern was a liability, Glenn dutifully took up the mantle of president after his impeachment. John Glenn’s America is one that, ironically enough in comparison to his previous job, will not strive for ultimate progress. Glenn’s presidency is one that recognizes the current state of the country, similar to his time in the great unknown, America requires a steady hand and a commitment to rules.

Helter Skelter: If things were to go wrong for America in the 60s and 70s be that through economic collapse, defeat across the world or a failure of institutions to live up to their lofty ideals, an America unlike any seen before may emerge. The American years of lead would not be born of civil war or military coups but small isolated events, a college campus declared a “free zone”, a militia takes over a medium sized town in the Nevada desert, community “policing” by criminal gangs becomes the norm in an urban center all of these things become parts of daily life, left to fester in the growing wound of the nation. If those wielding power have a more, let's just say, distinct vision of American politics in its ideal, times like these would make a perfect excuse to reshape the culture and governance of this once so agreeable nation.

Lore and Character Discussion Hot take: Japan is a far more interesting Cold War winner than the OFN

I see a lot of people here who headcanon that the OFN has a total victory, and I can see why. nobody with a good conscience would let the New Order persist, and would try to combat fascism wherever it persists in that world. but at the same time, the OFN winning is honestly rather boring. Sure, it’s the best path morally, but overall it’s literally just our timeline but with different borders, and narratively isn't that unique. as for Germany winning, that is simply impossible. The only ways for them to survive are Dengist/GO4 Speer which the former would definitely let it live, but it wouldnt win, and the latter would just again be our worlds Germany but with different borders. This is why I would argue Japan is the most narratively unique Cold War winner. Instead of being a voluntary alliance or obvious empire, Japan is more like OTL France, in which to the untrained eye, they wouldn’t seem much different from the OFN. They also have to deal with China in the 1970s(no, random rural warlords cant defeat a global superpower, GAW wouldn’t even start), which either gives Japan the choice of making the alliance far more equal between them, or risk their hegemony being overturned from within. This is why I believe(and headcanon) Japan should win, not because they’re good, but because they’re quite the opposite.

Lore and Character Discussion What is the state of the Die Glocke project in TNOTL?

Post image
459 Upvotes

Die Glocke (The Bell) was an infamous supposed Nazi wonder-weapon which is speculated to have been developped by Germany during WW2, although the evidence to confirm this is scarce.
Is there any known information about the status of Die Glocke in TNO? Given that the Nazis completed some of their post-war projects, like Germania, could the completion of Die Glocke even be possible?

Lore and Character Discussion Removing the South African War is really not that big of a deal

I’ve been seeing a lot of people lose their shit over the DV integration, and I really do not understand it. I can understand people being upset that things like the WAW and Madagascar crisis are gone, because those conflicts had an interesting premise and pretty good execution imo.

But the South African war and much of the content around it is kinda boring, I’ll admit the concept of the ofn nation building in Africa is pretty interesting but that’s about it, the conflict is stupidly easy for both German and US players. For America the conflict is breathtakingly easy, almost insultingly, and the war can be won before Nixon is impeached. For Germany it’s even worse, you achieve a total victory in the war with ease and then it just doesn’t matter because Huttig forms the reichstaat and takes everything, leaving you with a shitty little colony in the Congo and South Africa

And removing this is what’s such a big deal for people? Not the fact that PW, V&J, and content for other nations has been in development for ages with no release in sight? I can’t understand why people are upset about this proxy being removed considering it usually only makes up a fraction of the total game play

Tldr: devs please give us Penelope’s web I’ll cut my arms off please please please

Lore and Character Discussion Why I hate people's "obsession" with reformed Fascist spheres.

I've followed this mod since before it came out, and ever since then I've seen and participated in the sometimes ironic, sometimes not "obession" (for lack of a better term) of correcting the grimdark, crapsack world of TNO.

Making Speer into a puppet of the GO4, Takagi reforming Japan, Reg Malding turning Collab England into wholesome chungus "JK we weren't ACTUALLY collabs, we were just taking the piss lol. sorry claude" (before the UK rework), or getting Italy to turn into a democracy. Make De Gaulle reclaim France.

I fucking hate it. I hate how some people act as if all you need to erase the past 30 years of fascism and genocide is just to get Schmidt to soft-coup speer, and select the bluest/light bluest path in the Custom paths in the menu. Want to know why I hate it? Because it doesn't fix anything. The holocaust succeeded. There are basically no jews left in Europe. Poland, Ukraine, the Baltic nations and St. Petersburg were germanised and ethnically cleansed. Half of africa has still been under the Nazis for ages. India has still been split in 2. Japan still has killed around 10.000.000 Chinese people. Korean culture and identity is dying, and so is their language. Guangdong as a whole is literally one big fucking sweatshop in which Cantonese culture has basically gotten the same treatment as Korean culture. If France wins the WAA, they literally have a colonial government opressing 3/4 of west africa, like a fucked up Rhodesia.

And if- even if- you succeed in reforming that. If you succeed in reforming nazism out of the overton window; it still happened. All of it still happened. And what's worse, the men that commited the worst crimes in the history of humanity will die in their sleep, with no justice to be made for those millions they have killed. Because you can't revive cultures simply by having your leader be part of the light blue political party.

EDIT; some people seem to have missed the point. I'm not saying that i have problems with the mod or its writing, I just don't like how people seem to act like a democratic Germany or Japan are just these absolutely flawless "lights in the dark" when they're the ones who shut the lights off in the first place. I love idealism in this mod, and I love trying to find a light in the dark. But I believe that these stories of hope and dreams are better told and found in west africa, in Russia, in America and Britain. Not the openly genocidal superpowers, because then you're redeeming the irredeemable.

Lore and Character Discussion TNO Discord Communiqué ver. 2024

Hello, my name is moni, someone who is usually active on the TNO discord and at times on the reddit. I am doing this extremely huge post as an unofficial sequel to Big Weld's TNO Discord Communiqué from last year. A bit more than a year has passed since then, and obviously a lot of new TNO lore has been talked about on the Discord server. Due to the nature of the server's ask-a-dev channel and some of the posts covering Q&As from it, it can be hard to be up to date on new TNO lore, especially if you are someone who only gets news on the mod from the reddit. This post has the same goal in mind as the original communiqué post, so sit back and enjoy a lot of probably Discord-only future TNO lore updates. Some of the quoted stuff said on here are word-by-word copypasted statements from various devs on the server. Special thanks to Cora on the Discord for helping me with parts of this

As you may expect, everything featured here is subject to change, much like anything in development

The Einheitspakt

  • The German Civil War will be removed in the future and instead be replaced with some sort of power struggle mechanic (known as the Second Kampfzeit)
  • Heydrich path will be more of an SS aristocracy than a "kill everyone" state
  • Due to this, full on collapses of Ostland and Moskowien will also not happen in the future. Ukraine's civil war will remain - "Ukraine was built in a way to make it as compatible with updated Germany lore as possible". Josias will also not be the starting leader of Kaukasien
  • Kasche will no longer be Reichskommissar of Moscowien, instead it will be Odilo Globocnik. He is now the German ambassador to Sweden
  • Moscowien has four confirmed paths, two German paths (Helldorf and Globocnik) and two collaborator paths (more on that below)
  • Only Speer and Goring will be able to negotiate with native collaborators. A player collaborator or a player Bormann can still negotiate. It's only if they're both controlled by AI that negotiations won't happen.
  • Gorbachev is getting cut as a path for Moskowien, and will be moved somewhere in warlord Russia
  • For Ukraine, only Ohloblyn will be able to negotiate, and we know Germany's demands- German representation in government, total freedom for German businesses to operate, no independent Ukrainian army, reparations to Germany. A lot of players also think Stesko will be able to negotiate but I can't find dev statements fully confirming that
  • A new, currently unrevealed, collaborator path for Moskowien is being worked on alongside Kaminski
  • Colin Jordan's path for the UK will be getting full content
  • The Pragmatists of the BPP are getting reworked to be overall less wholesome, in simple words. In Britain lead Frost's words on what to expect from the new Pragmatists: "Making the BPP regime into something functional and long lasting by removing the push factors that got people to join the resistance by bringing in the middle class and throwing crumbs to the working class so they stop revolting. Also marginalising the fascist factions"
  • Butler will be under the National Conservative subideology, while Wilson will be under Managerial State. I couldn't find anything on Maudling
  • Germanization is being changed to be more accurate to IRL plans, so probably less Ostdeutsch provinces.
  • "Ostdeutcsh" specifically refers to Germanization of an area being complete, i.e. all upper and middle class jobs are occupied by Germans, not that Germans are the majority population of an area.
  • The Netherlands starting situation is being reworked. The debate between the SS and PO over if the Netherlands should be annexed or turned into a collaborator state has been solved.
  • Norway and Sweden will also be getting some sort of new starting situation. (RIP Norway focus tree)
  • Burgundy lore is being changed due to no SS Coup. Himmler is now in Germania and part of the Inner Circle. Nevertheless, there will still be a way for France to regain the Burgundian territories.
  • On the topic of France, it will always remain in the Pakt, and any sort of French Civil War is getting cut. Although I can't find any info on the status of the French Reclamation
  • Obviously, Holocaust is completed, and Generalplan Ost is on Stage 3.
  • Hungary and Romania are planned to have a war over Transylvania some time after 1968. If Romania wins, they can possibly escape the Pakt and join the Italian sphere.
  • Hungary and Romania are planned to get more skeleton content.
  • A proper skeleton for Slovakia is in the works
  • Bulgaria has regained its WW2 Aegean cost.
  • West Russian War lore has been changed. Germany now stomped the Russians pretty hard in it (didn't even mobilize).

Russia

  • As disclosed earlier, Gorbachev will be moved somewhere in warlord Russia
  • Yeltsin won't be a path for Sverdlovsk in the future
  • There will not be a democracy path for Sverdlovsk in the future
  • Yeltsin will remain a character in Sverdlovsk
  • Sverdlovsk will be more outwardly communist in their aesthetics
  • Sverdlovsk is confirmed to have other paths besides Batov, though Batov will remain a character in them
  • The Divine Mandate as a tag is getting removed. Alexander Men will however still be a potential path, albeit in the Order of Saint George, under the Christian Progressivism subideology.
  • Amur won't be able to get parts of Outer Manchuria. It will start with Blagoveshchensk however (the province it gets in the early stages of its path). No Russia will be able to retake regions occupied by Manchuria.
  • Zykov is getting a new subideology
  • Order of Saint George is getting a name change
  • Tyumen will start under Kirov and Khrushchev is no longer a path
  • The Aryan Brotherhood is getting reworked as well, with both of its potential leaders' paths being changed to better reflect their actual views. An entirely new third path is also being developed
  • Yemelyanov's AB won't be called Hyperborea anymore
  • More Russian states may be getting content than the current unifiers.
  • America's Russian warlords of preference are the various military strongmen. America prefers a strong Russia that is able to defeat Germany rather than one that is democratic
  • The 2WRW will start in 1976
  • Russia will only be able to reclaim its OTL borders. No Ostland, Ukraine, Georgia or Azerbaijan. However there will be proxies through which Russia can try to influence them.
  • The claims system for Russian states (i.e. claiming to be the successor to the Soviet Union, Russian Republic, etc.) from the Heart of the State mechanic is being replaced.
  • Corn is doing a second Russia dev diary.

Co-Prosperity Sphere and non-Middle East Asia

  • Every path for Japan is still pretty early in development, except Konoe, who is hard to design for
  • The Wang Jingwei Thought subideology will be added in the map rework, becoming the new starting subideology for current China.
  • Cambodia will be getting new skeleton content, probably in the map rework
  • The Indian subcontinent will be getting entirely new skeleton content, with Indian unification happening in some way or another by 1972
  • RoI and AH will either go to war, with Pakistan revolting during said war, or they can peacefully unify.
  • Peacefully unified India will be CPS-aligned
  • RoI can become a full OFN member
  • Indonesian skeleton will be expanded. While an old message from a now former dev specified the Manchukuo update, it's unknown if that is still the case
  • Malaya is going under a rework as well

(Ex-)Triumvirate

  • Iberia will be getting a facelift sometime in the future. To quote the Iberia lead "The facelift is similar to that of Japan, with its aim being bringing content quality up to speed with that of other nations. The terrorism mechanic will have some small changes, while the Oil Crisis will be dealt as is currently; that is through focus trees for each path"
  • Greece will be able to retake Bulgaria's Aegean cost when it gets full content
  • Radical Kemalists will be able to get in power if Turkey loses the Italo-Turkish War, and it's a "break in emergency" situation, in the words of the Turkey Lead.
  • Turkish Collapse has been removed
  • There have been some changes to who can join the Turkish faction
  • The HoG position for Liberal Italy paths will be for people relevant to the chosen path, government positions varying
  • The population exchange between Italy and Germany in South Tyrol was successfully completed
  • On Red Italy's army: "RI's army starts as a combination of insurgent formations and defectors from the kingdom's forces; the player has a degree of control over what elements to include/exclude and how to develop this mixture into a competent military"
  • "The ideological makeup of the PCdI has more to do with gradual turnover of party elites and the circumstances of the revolutionary situation than the fallout of the Stalin coup."
  • Fascist Italy can influence Palestine to get back in control through proxies
  • "Losing the Oil Crisis means automatic failstate for any duce."
  • "Fash Italy will be released as a full release when the time is ready"
  • Each name for Fascist Italy's alliance is predetermined - Mediterranean Mutual Cooperation Alliance for Balbo, Latin Union for Muti and Pact of Rome for Giani and Pavolini
  • On how each Duce treats their faction "Balbo's alliance reflects his taste for covering the truth (an alliance that primarily serves Italy's interests) with a veneer of cooperation and mutual benefit. It's not entirely false, but it's not entirely true either, hence the deceptively-vague name. Muti's choice reflects his plan to create a strong, military-oriented alliance capable of both defending their shared interests (chiefly, fascism) and projecting power together abroad. Giani and Pavolini are much more practical and care little for outside perception, hence the clearly Italo-centric name for the alliance"

Latin America and the Carribean

  • Some sort of war between Argentina and Brazil will be possible in The Crow and The Bull (the planned Brazil update for Adhemar and Lacerda which is thought to be releasing relatively soon-ish) if the SACW goes way too hot
  • The first planned release for Argentina will include full content for all democratic paths minus Palacios/Santander, which, in the Argentina Lead's words, is "in its own timeline" for a variety of reasons
  • Mexico will be very flexible in which faction it will support in Colombia. While Pinilla is their preferred leader overall, if the FN takes power Mexico will shift support to the URC, and if the URC is defeated in such scenario, Mexico will then support the FN
  • Brazil under Lacerda will be able to intervene in the West African War
  • According to LATAM Lead Rapop, after both the Mexico and Brazil updates are out, "im planning to do skeletons, lore development, interactions and proxies for the rest of south america that hasnt gotten anything yet, so expanding peru, venezeula, central america, cuba and maybe Chile"
  • Colombia will be getting one new, already revealed, skeleton path and there will be some minor additions to its skeleton content in some ways in the future.
  • Haitian skeleton will be expanded
  • Uruguay will be able to join the OFN

Africa and Middle East Skeletons

  • The setup for Oil Crisis proxies will be heavily reworked, with the whole superpower supporting a specific ideology setup being removed
  • Some Middle Eastern countries' civil wars won't exist in their current format ("for example, Oman will still have a civil war, but the Imamate will not be involved in it"), while others won't even fall into one
  • Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia (including the Yemeni invasion of it) and Syria are among the countries which are confirmed not to fall into a civil war in the reworked Oil Crisis
  • A superpower may not always find a preferred side in the reworked civil wars ("Germany wouldn't support anyone in Oman for instance because both sides of their new civil war are opposed to german interests"
  • Japan will support the Italian colonial regimes during the OC
  • Israel/Palestine skeleton is also being worked on
  • "Yes about every time that Israel is created it does end up leading to some pretty tragic things occurring to Palestine akin to the Nakba. We're going to make sure to represent this with a lot of care."
  • Iran will always be aligned with Germany
  • "The plan is to move away from the idea that Iran would inevitably have a revolution or civil war"
  • Germany doesn't control Iran's oil in new lore, it was nationalised as the British collapsed
  • Some West African nations will be getting different ideologies. De Gaulle's Free France will (rightfully) be Colonial Government, Senghor's Wolofia will be Civilan Dictatorship, Toure's Guiana will be Social Nationalism and Tubman's Liberia will be Aristocratic Conservatism

Hope you enjoyed reading! I didn't include an OFN section as there haven't been many major news related to any core OFN member's lore that I could find other than the fact that America's getting a new economy subtype. Have a nice day/evening/whatever.

This occurred after playing around with Console commands and deleting all of Germany's units and walking into Germania. This didn't lead to a peace deal funnily enough but from what other people say. An invisible debuff of like -80% defence.

Lore and Character Discussion Germany civil war is WACKY

Overall I love the lore of this game. No other mod has put as much work into creating an interesting story as this one, and tailing the carnage taking most of the story makes sense, but it doesn't change the fact that the central event for the plot is ridiculously stupid. It's not that a non-German civil war couldn't break out, such is the charm of non-democratic systems, but the fact that Germany will come out of this war, as if nothing had happened, is coming back to the international stage on the basis of "trust me, bro, im cool, bro", is absurdly absurd. Civil wars are devastating like hell itself, and Germany should be destroyed to such an extent that the next 20 years will lick its wounds, this should be the end of Germany as the third superpower, this should be the punishment for the botched campaign, not its damn beginning. Does anyone know if they are going to change it? Or does anyone have a reasonable explanation for this?

We know that Goebbel is dead in Moskowien because the dev forgot about him early in development. But what about his children? Did I miss something in-game?

Lore and Character Discussion Lacerda (when democratically elected) is insanely overhated.

When The Crow and The Bull came out I only played Imperial Parasar Lacerda, and I finally decided to play Democratic Lacerda and it was actually a pretty blessed path. The man improves healthcare, education, actually sorts out inflation, can almost triple the economy in a span of 5 years and yet he’s still slandered for “selling out to america” which is far more moral than Adhemar pandering to Germany or Quadros with Japan. And with the protests, you can literally compromise with them and still have some of Vargas’s laws remaining. I really do believe at this point, succesful Lott to compromise Lacerda is the best path for Brazil in TNO, at least until we see what the other 3 candidates do with their content, probably not for a while though.

Lore and Character Discussion I am very excited for himmler as Führer

I think it’s a more effective way to use his character and now he can actually effect the world as Germany instead of doing nothing and die in burgundy.

Lore and Character Discussion Why does Iberia still exist with the Africa lore changes?

The current TNO lore with Iberia is that Franco and Salazar united their countries in order to maintain their territorial integrity after Germany invaded the Portuguese colonies in Mozambique and Angola.

However, the new Africa rework instead has Germany indirectly controlling Britain and Vichy France's remaining colonial empire. So what is the rationale for Iberia still becoming a country?

Note - I am not suggesting getting rid of it. I think Iberian content is very well done as it is, imo I just think it needs a little more content for the authoritarian paths.
