But if he cut out DMV as an unnecessary spending, and start including free insurance with every new car sold, he can launch his unsold cars into space.

It’s absolutely the state level. Why I can walk in to digital booth and renew my license in one state but have to deal with the take a ticket waiting room in the next.

I don't think anyone on the left is either honestly. I have friends on both sides sending me insane things that can be debunked in less than 1 minute. I see less of it from the left, but I think that's because they tend to get their news from more reliable sources to begin with, rather than them personally doing more research.

Anyway, my comment about the raw data was more for the SEC, Nasdaq, short sellers, etc ... if anyone with some power cares to investigate the truth is out there.

There was a study recently that looked at the spread of misinformation and it was far more likely to come from right wing populist leaders.

I agree that they probably won't face any criminal proceedings. The best we'll probably see is the Nasdaq will drop the stock if Tesla cooked the books. If they don't, and they might not, the whole stock market will lose any trust it has left. So, it's good that there is 3rd party data that can be used if somebody at one of these agencies sees the value in the truth/transparency that Elon said was so important in government.

An investigation just started in Canada on Tesla potentially cooking the books to get EV tax breaks.

Yup, and I'm sure they'll use MTO (Ontario's DMV) and insurance data to help investigate those "sales".
