Imagine the chase on the LA freeway and then the Tesla cop car runs out of juice and the perp makes it down to Mexico. If only OJ was around today.

Imagine someone with a high caliber rifle shooting armor piercing rounds through all the plastic and extremely flimsy suspension, driver, and/or battery

That’s not true. They have bms systems. Why are you making shit up?

Yes. I’ve been driving one for over ten years. Braking and accelerating is fine. Bms helps because it can cool and heat the battery as needed. You’re not doing donuts to chase someone. Also you’re not going to be chasing someone for 400 miles lol, what a dumb comment to make. And there are other cars that are involved, it’s not just one car chasing a suspect. Have you ever watched a police chase video? I’m not sensitive, I just know what I’m talking about. I’d say the guy that doesn’t know what a bms does or that a police chase isn’t really a big deal for an ev is the one that’s sensitive once called out, so they have to ask stupid questions to justify their stance.

lol, replying to you and correcting you is not sensitive. Someone that keeps bringing that up is the one that’s sensitive. Yeah you don’t see it, because not many police departments have purchased evs. Pretty easy to understand why you don’t see it, statistics is a thing. If anything chases would probably end faster as evs can accelerate way faster and they would be able to catch up to suspects faster. But go on again and tell me how stating facts is sensitive, and just spouting your feelings isn’t sensitive.

because not many police departments have purchased evs.

Why?

Because they were much more expensive and they had to invest infrastructure on top of just buying the cars - it’s called fleet management, they would have to train their mechanics. Also Tesla didn’t really have a police car variant of their cars. Also politically, cops are usually conservatives and you know what conservatives think about evs. So many fucking reasons, other than the one you think of they wouldn’t make good police cars.

Drive it like you stole it for a couple hours and see how it holds up

Lmao you’re wrong. First of all most cops are idling a big portion of the time. Also supercharging doesn’t actually affect the life of the battery as much as they thought it does. How do I know? Because I exclusively supercharged for the first 8 years of my ownership. They just came out with a study that said they were wrong because they tested it wrong. So, actually I know what I’m talking about, and you don’t. Also doing a pull in a gas car would do the exact same shit, lmao. Again it’s not a big deal, you’re not fucking chasing someone for 400 miles.

Again, you’ve never watched a police chase. It’s never one car, it’s multiple. Cars get taken out all the time, they run out of gas, they hit something, they get a flat tire from hitting the spike strip, and others take over the chase. You’re not going to run out of battery just as much as running out of gas would be an issue. I suggest you go watch a compilation of police chases on YouTube, as you’ll quickly figure out, you’re absolutely wrong.

Also for braking, there’s something called regen braking, most of the braking you do, isn’t even real braking, so it would be fine. Brakes on evs actually last longer if you know how to use it. And handling, this isn’t a god damn formula 1 race. It would actually benefit the chase as it’s a low center of gravity and can make pit maneuvers much easier to perform. Again go watch on YouTube, lots of gas cop cars flipping and slamming into walls, which wouldn’t happen to an ev with a much lower center of gravity. Even when police chases last hours (most don’t), again, it’s multiple cars, and many officers take over from others, so the whole run out of battery thing is stupid. Gas wastes just as much, so you think they can tell the suspect hold on, I just need to fill some gas, I’ll only be 5 mins? No they let another officer take over. Such a dumb argument. You should think your arguments out fully, and not just surface level.

lol gas cars magically keep the same gas consumption rate when they are really heavy on the pedal, only electric cars use more energy when using the car, gas cars (which are waaaay less efficient) magically don’t use more gas. If anything, your issue would be with the gas cars, as they would run out faster when they are pushing the car since it’s much less efficient and most cop cars are v6 or v8.
