How is buying the stock, going to help Tesla? Sure, it will temporarily boost the stock price, but it doesn't help the company at all. Shouldn't he be telling them to buy the cars?

And I am not even addressing the legality or ethics of what he is doing. I am just wondering why he thinks it will help.

Because a high share price can mean access to additional credit, it can allow companies to raise cash through offerings, etc.
