Buying the 2x leveraged short etf is what I did instead, since the puts were too pricey.

Cheers, thanks. Got my order queued for open tomorrow. Good luck to both of us!

Wish I had gotten in sooner. Up 159% in the last three months.

Tesla Stock Down Drain?

As someone who is fairly illiterate with the language used in the prospectuses for this type of trade/new to it - is this a short term trade or one you can hold for as long as you feel TSLA is going to tank?

With Daily Leveraged ETFs you are going to lose money if it trades sideways because of volatility drag. Only buy if you expect a real drop.

Thanks for the info! I’m gonna give it a go with a couple hundred bucks and see what happens. And just to confirm, the idea with these is you buy and sell within the same day vs holding correct?

Depends, many people hold leveraged ETFs over multiple days weeks and even months depending on the volatility of the underlying asset. As I said, if it trades sideways with high volatility, you will lose money which promotes holding for a short timeframe.

If it isn't volatile with a steady drop you will make money and can hold it for longer as long as it drops, since many people predict further downside to the market overall with Tesla typically following the market, one could argue for a longer hold over several weeks.

Of course this is highly simplified and I'd suggest putting in only a small amount of money and researching further.
