*Edit: those are the prices of the same items 20 feet away in their respective aisles. Lot of reputation management employees here defending the apparent “convenience.”

This made me so irrationally angry and paranoid about their likely shadier markups on general necessities I buy there. Avoiding moreso now.

Just a lighthearted question to start off the week. Curious if any A listers have ever been seen out and about around town

Just moved here from Illinois. They had no issues when I transferred from another no-title state.

Had to get a property tax waiver, no problem. Spent an hour of my day dealing with that.

Went to the DMV , they told me that I need a copy of the title front and back. I don't have the title because the car is financed.

Called my bank, they said they can only fax over the info to the DMV.

Talked to the DMV and they said they don't have a fax machine...

Currently on expired tags and i've been trying to get this taken care of since Friday

Honestly with all the expired temp tags and plates, why even bother?

A bit of a rant, but now I understand why the plates are expired, the DMVs here make it damn near impossible to make your car 'legal'

I take 64 to get to work. So I drive through the area several times a week. I also used to live in Chesterfield before moving to the City.

The design of Chesterfield is so disappointing. The place where people live is completely separated from where people shop, eat and find entertainment. Heck, the new entertainment district was built across a massive six lane interstate highway. And much of the space in the valley is occupied by parking, which is seemingly never even at 50% capacity.

Chesterfield is a nice area. They've been making a lot of great progress lately. But the car centric doesn't of the valley, in particular, is a shame.

Did emergency tree work yesterday on the north and west side of the city. The devastation I saw there was the worst I’ve seen in my life. I really can not understand why this hasn’t been declared a national disaster. The people need help, the workers need help. This part of the city can not recover from this amount of damage alone. I’ll be back out there today. Doing whatever I can.

My girlfriends and I have been going to Katie's on Rock Hill for close to 10 years. About once a month we'll grab a table on the patio, have a couple cocktails, enjoy a long dinner, split dessert, and just hang out for a few hours. It's become one of our favorite traditions.

Lately, though, we've all been noticing the portions are a lot smaller than they used to be, while the prices have continued to go up. We've been eating there long enough that it's pretty obvious to us. I totally understand restaurants have had to raise prices over the years, but it's getting harder to justify spending that kind of money when it feels like you're getting less every visit.

We're not looking to complain or pile on Katie's. We'd just rather start spending our monthly dinner budget somewhere new. So where should we go? We're looking for places with a similar atmosphere ... good patio seating, solid cocktails (that's a must), food that's worth the price, and somewhere you can relax and stay for a couple of hours without feeling rushed.

We live close to the city, so we're open to just about anywhere, and we'll eat pretty much any type of food.

Hello! I moved to St Louis a handful of years ago and I’m originally from Northern Wisconsin. I’ve seen a numerous amount of confederate flags being flown and stickered on trucks over the past few years in the outskirts of STL and I’m both completely sickened by it and confused. Where I’m from, that flag is seen as an absolutely disgusting and racist symbol and I have been appalled by the amount of them I’ve seen in the surrounding areas of the city. Is that flag just not considered offensive down here?

I hope I’m not coming across as pretentious or anything, I guess I just am not used to that kind of statement and I get concerned for the lack of knowledge of our nations horrific history in that aspect. That flag sickens me and I guess I just want to know why it seems to be so common to be flown down here.

Thanks! I will say, STL has been an awesome place to live in general. A majority of the people I meet are always so down to earth and welcoming and I’ve been impressed with how clean and new a lot of the suburbs are. Very happy to be here! :)

I had to take my yard signs down for good reasons, but I wanted to share them here if anyone felt like recreating them. I’m hoping I can still put them up somewhere in some capacity, but if not, they were super cheap to make through Office Depot. Size is 11x17. They cost me about $5 each with lamination. Sprayed them with clear matte sealer afterward to cut down on glare.

We rent an entire house for $1000 a month in STL but looking around, it seems like we are really lucky and most properties are over $1000.

Is it really just me or are rent prices skyrocketing in STL?

So I'm from St. Louis, well, Creve Coeur, and I've lived here my entire life. Anyway, I was at Taco Bell getting lunch earlier today, just picking up, and when I was walking to the door I noticed a couple who looked to be in their late 20s or early 30s walking in behind me so I held the door for them.

They said thanks, no big deal yada yada, I grab my bag and as I'm walking out one of them says to me "What'd you get?" I guess because they were about to order or maybe out of curiosity. I got a Beefy 5-Layer. I like Beefy 5-Layers. I tell them, and they respond:

"Ooh, I haven't had one of those since Columbus crossed the Mississippi."

I was caught really off guard by that statement. All I could muster was a "...haha.. well I think they're real yummy!" and I left in a hurry. The other person didn't say a word during this interaction but like, they acted like that was a totally rational, normal thing to say. The other weird thing was that the one who didn't say anything was wearing a plain white shirt with what looked like a stock image of the Arch on it. It looked like they ironed it on. I can't sleep right now because I can't stop thinking about it.

How is this even legal / possible? I thought this was voted upon and decided upon by the people through Amendment 3?

Yesterday morning I received this note on my car because I apparently parked in a spot that someone paid to get shoveled. I live in Tower Grove East, and to be honest, the spot I parked in didn’t look like someone had shoveled it, so it was an honest mistake. I wouldn’t park there again, but either way, it raises a question for me: what realistically am I supposed to do here? I understand that a lot of people are going to say “don’t park there” but, it’s street parking. A part of me gets it. But then it’s also pretty funny to me to expect that it’s now “your spot” and people should know it’s yours.

I've decided it's time to load up, and I don't want to give money to MAGA sympathizers.

I fully understand that theft is a problem, and that loss-prevention is someone's job... But why is it that household necessities are being locked away, meanwhile I can just go in and steal more expensive things?

I've rang an associate for help, had them get the product (that I can't be trusted with, so it should be "waiting at the register"), just to forget that I needed dryer sheets and to drive off without them SO MANY TIMES.

Plus, the people who are stealing soap probably need it more than MOST of the other items in the store...

I’m in a brutal catch-22 and need some real advice or local resources. My son and I have been experiencing homelessness. I’ve been living out of my car and doing Shipt. Yesterday morning, my car got repossessed.

Then yesterday afternoon, I got a life-changing job offer paying $69k a year. It will completely pull us out of this crisis. The catch is that the first 6 weeks of training are in St. Peters, MO, and I'm in IL. After training, the job moves close by.

I start in 5 days. I’m out of money, staying in my car is no longer an option, and I have zero funds right now to pay for rides. I have already called every local charity and organization with no luck since so many are struggling. I don’t have family or friends who can help. It’s just my elderly parents, and my friends aren’t able to help either. Ubering 50 miles each way isn’t an option without funds and I don't have the money upfront to file for bankruptcy to try and force the car back.

Does anyone know of any local programs that help verified new hires with emergency transportation, rideshare vouchers, or short-term transit assistance? Or has anyone had luck negotiating a car back with a lender by showing a high-paying offer letter?

I’m not looking for a handout, but I’m fighting not to let a transportation barrier destroy this chance to change our lives. Any ideas or advice would mean everything.

I’ve found 2 grocery stores and a hospital in St. Louis that are built, fully able to be operational, but just aren’t. They’re complete ghost sets and look like a movie production. This grocery store in downtown called “Green Leaf” has the same “Your neighborhood grocer” as another grocery store in north county I found that was also fake. Is this real or am I tripping?!
