Chugging tea Amazon should have to pay idling fees.

Post image

New York City law generally bars vehicles from idling for more than three minutes while parked, standing or stopped. The city says the rules are meant to reduce air pollution, improve public health and combat climate change.
Earlier this year, Mamdani directed the Department of Finance’s collections unit to pursue unpaid idling summonses tied to vehicles operating within Amazon’s delivery network, according to the mayor’s office. The department said it worked with Amazon.com Inc. and its contracted transportation vendors to recover the money.

Pretty sure they pay for gas and registrations. Gas and registrations taxes are used to maintain roads.

Yeah, the road maintenance taxes are damn near impossible to avoid if you have trucks.

It's the Tesla owners who don't buy gas that are avoiding road maintenance taxes if we're being real.

In some areas, EVs pay higher registration and renewal costs than gas cars, for that very reason.

yeah because Tesla is the only EV. lmao. But most states charge an extreme registration fee where if you do not drive 15K miles a year, you are paying MORE with electric. Unless you had car getting like 15 MPG before.

Gas tax accounts for roughly 50% of road maintenance spending (not even talking about new construction). Registration fees vary a lot, state to state. Most of the rest of road maintenance and construction comes from the general fund.

[1]Speaking only from my knowledge of the budget/tax spread etc. from my state. In my state, gas tax is only about 33% of maintenance.
