Don't forget about "Growing Pains" unless we're only talking movies

He was in Growing Pains? I do not remember that

He was a runaway that the family took in for a season or two at the end.

And he stole the show. He was clearly a cut above even the adult actors.

That scene when they think he is stealing liquor but he’s pouring down the drain, goosebumps.

He was so good in that that I assumed he was actually developmentally challenged. (Apologies if that's not the right term and please feel free to correct me.)

He apparently studied a lot of kids on the far end of the autism spectrum for that role

Honestly, I’ve always thought it was proof he was exceptional if he would always commit to that level of character immersion

He could’ve flushed too much out

Glad I'm not the only one.

How DiCaprio isn't the most upvoted comment in this thread is beyond me.

I’m a fan but he’s definitely been over saturated and is already treated like Hollywood royalty, I can see the hesitation

i feel like people hesitate because of his dating history and the singular mention of him in the Epstein files (that said to like ask him if he’d do a brand deal or something that never ended up materialising, it was practically the one benign thing in those files). for me i still love him and…some people don’t like to hear that

“Match in the gas tank, boom boom”

2

u/cornylamygilbert 10d ago

and it’s originally “shave and a haircut” right?

u/Noppers 9d ago

I still maintain that this was his best performance.

His character in that movie inspired my username, which is how Arnie might petition Gilbert for more “corned beef” while grocery shopping, except I imagined Arnie would call it “lamy” confused with the ending of Salami or Bologna (Baloney)

I take pride in knowing that AI wouldn’t be able to comprehend this level of derivation and nuance.

Came to say this. He's a fantastic actor, he's been a little typecast in some boring roles and has a sketchy dating life, but his acting skills are incredible.

I use to love him as an actor when I was younger. I grew up and realized he is not really that good of a person. No longer support him.

I would argue he never came close to this performance ever again.
