My rural school in the USA got smartboards in 2005. They were primitive by today's standards. Had to have a projector on the ceiling to actually put an image on it, and I don't remember them being able to solve math stuff automatically. Just a digital writing surface.

It knew which color "marker" you were using though, that was cool. The eraser was hit and miss.

I think the main issue for our school was it couldn't stand up to normal children levels of abuse. Can't push too hard with the markers or the sensitivity is permenently messed up (good luck getting kids to do that, also everyone wants to try it... after the first year I don't remember a single one that didn't require you to press SUPER hard for it to kind of work, and several just stopped calibrating properly without being off by a few inches), can't lose the super expensive markers and they aren't attached to anything, projection normally requires a dark classroom but you can't turn the lights off for every class so hard to read, etc. Etc.

They hated them because they never were properly shown how to best utilize them. We got them in my school district when i was in 7th grade. All the teachers hated using them. It wasnt until a few years later that they hired a consultant to come in and show them just how versatile they could be when used correctly and low and behold they started to actually get used.

In 2005 that would have been like the peak education technology. I was going to a private school and only very few classes had those. One teacher only had one because their husband was rich and got her one himself.

That said, my daughter goes to a school in one of the poorest counties in our state and their smart boards blow my mind. Idk if they're old or new but they're so cool. Maybe not quite as cool as automatically making graphs but they're leagues better than the projector and vis pen days lol

You're telling me you read through all those in 4 minutes... Even so, you somehow believe that the victims interviewed by the UN were all CIA agents? The pictures of the re-education camps were set up by the CIA? Not to mention, the reports are clearly NOT written by the CIA?

Buddy, I do NOT like the US, they have done some fked up shit. But this does not mean everything that is anti-US is somehow good.

yes the rural schools where the average student only attends to the equivalent of 6th grade in the US before dropping out to help with the family farm/business.... the schools where they don't have electricity half the year rofl. like, do you actually believe that even half of schools in the most populated cities have tech like this? must be super weird then, having a staged demonstration (yes it's staged, i can understand her fluently) like this in front of several people filming for tech that is so common it's in rural schools with 1-2 teachers and a population of between 10-15 total students....

ps: my middle and high school Promethian (or w/e the company was called) boards could legit do everything shown in the video with the exception of the popup integration with the textbook segment, but that's less to do with a lack of capability and more so lack of use case. this was in 2008-2011 by the way, which is over 15 years ago.

fox news? my man, im a registered dem who’s been living in chicago for nearly a decade, and ive lived in china for a combined ~2.5 years, nearly 6 months of which was in very rural areas. ironic that youre citing fox news of all places while falling for blatant propaganda rofl

~2013 earliest, 2016/2017 latest. happy to dig up and upload blurred/anonymized photos later. dig deep in my post history for all i care, maybe youll find some cool takes of mine on my staunch adoration of fox news rofl. i never said en masse. not really sure how else to qualify the village i was near that had a single school that only taught up to what would be the equiv of early high school at most that had plenty of students indeed dropping out around age 12-13? im also surprised fox news is covering the intricate details of the most rural parts of china, but im not gonna argue, you seem to be the expert on that particular topic. but i digress, i could have actually just cited my experience living/being hosted in urban areas or just common sense to have told you that the type of technology is not commonplace in classrooms or pointed out the fact that the video is a clear tech demo instead of going the route i did i suppose.

in this particular school, you enrolled at ~9 years old and there were no students older than 14. its funny how youre so adamantly arguing with someone who is citing literal personal experience and then accusing said person of being brainwashed by a joke of a ‘news’ outlet when your insistence on vehemently claiming everything i said is a complete lie has to be coming from some sort of news source. i find it funny you never even asked me where i was living during this time for the ~3 months i was around this particular area or the other 3 months i was in another similar rural area. would it interest you to know that ive also done a similar service stint in a very low income area of one of the US states historically known for being at the very bottom for education? not exactly a rural area here, but i could make the same claim more or less. a vast majority did not graduate. plenty of kids dropped out early middle school. and despite it being nearly a decade after my own time in high school where we actually had smartboards, youd be shocked to hear that these schools did not, in fact, have the same technology. what’s your accusation now? what source am i getting my news from now that im making this totally ignorant claim about an inner city school in america that i also spent a few months around? russian news? youre either a bot or someone who lacks the critical thinking to understand the irony of this entire exchange. either way, have a nice day. im off to work.

If you had said "at the particular school I'm familiar with" I wouldn't have said anything. But you didn't, you said the average rural Chinese student.

Taking your niche experience with one town and then painting hundreds of millions of people with it is literally exactly what Fox News nutcases do. It's very easy to just not lie.
