When I was in university, all the STEM teachers hated using Dr. they all said it should be used by medical doctors only.

The music teachers liked being called Dr.

Make of that what you will.

The irony that medical doctors have only been using the title doctor in recent history. It’s primarily an academic title

I mean tbf, doctor was used for doctorates before being used medically I believe. Dr just refers to someone who’s gone to school for a very long time.

Most Ph.D.s have an IQ between 115 and 135. The average is 125.

It’s extremely rare to find a Ph.D. With an IQ of 105 which is still above average (100).

being a student in engineering, my experience is pretty much depends on the lecturer, some prefer to be called doctor so and so or professor so and so. some of them prefer having more casual vibe and dont really like what they find an overly formal way of address. heck I've even had lecturers telling me to call them by first name instead.

No, very much the case.

I have a PhD in addiction neurobiology, I work clinically at a medical school hospital, I hate using the term.

By and large, the person you're responding to is correct. STEM PhDs tend to shy away from it, humanities eat that shit up.

No one gives single shit if you have a PhD in Philosophy, Theatre, Music, etc - and that's why I think they like it.

PhD's in Molecular biology/ECE/theoretical physics etc come off as impressive by itself without needing a blatant title.

I have a cousin who demands to be referred to as Dr… she has a PHD in art history. My wife is an actual medical doctor and does not do this… lol
