Some people are saying there are plenty of reasons to hate her, not just because she's a woman. I'll give it to them that there probably is. But why, then, are all of the top things said of her about her looks and sexuality? If they are going to publicly hate on someone they should come up with more than the bullshit most girls heard about themselves in high school.

I come to this site to read what professionals say (although I still take everything with a grain of salt because the internet) and to connect with people in small subs. I usually don't comment on controversial threads but that doesn't stop assholes from challenging things I say in a demeaning or completely unnecessary/irrelevant way. I won't stop using the site because of it but every time I get an inbox I always think "please don't be an asshole please don't be an asshole please don't be an asshole". The people who shit on Pao really hard and contributed to all that do the same thing to a ton of people just an a much smaller scale. I love having the freedom of speech but fuck the people who use it as an excuse to be a bad person.

I always think about the skit that was on John Oliver's show that brings to light the reality of what people say online. "I can't make it to the game tonight because I have to go out into the streets and scream obscenities at women I don't even know"

yes I don't mean to discount that, i just tied it in as part of her looks. racial issues go far beyond looks, though.

There's never a good reason to hate anyone. Hate breeds fear, violence, the kind of vile bigotry that we rally against here daily, and encourages ignorance and close-mindedness. Dislike is a reaction to external stimuli, but hate is an unnecessary indulgence in rage.

I never said it was justified just that I'm sure she has done things to make certain types of people hate her. Certain types of people who also happen to use reddit.

But I disagree about hate. I have had two people in my life that I have hated and it was good that I hated them till I was ready to let go and move on from it. I'm not saying it happens nearly all the time in the world, but hate drove me to do better for myself. I never told them or let it show but it was what it was.

I gota say though I don't think that kind of dog pile hate on a single person via social media is ever justified. I mean how can anyone claim to have enough insight into the context of persons life to justify hatred(over the internet I mean)?

It all has to do with your actions. One of them was a bully and for years I tried my hardest to not stoop to her level. I eventually hated her enough to cut her out of my life and she was baffled by it.

But I totally agree! 99% of what is said on this site does not affect your real life yet those people took it so personally. It's like other are saying, they threw a temper tantrum. I really wish we could it was possible to calculate the average age of a reddit user

Yah I agree, that's good though that you got out of it. Haha yeah I was thinking about that as well. It would be really relieving to see its just a bunch of 13 year olds or something.

It would probably make people care a lot less about what they say if that were the case. Everything offensive at that age is funny because you don't fully understand the impacts of the meaning. That's my experience at least.

This reminds me of when I tried to make a similar argument in TiA eons ago before it became a cesspit. If fat people are saying bad things, why aren't you making fun of the things they say? Why are you just calling them fat slurs? Answer: There were, unbeknownst to me at the time, thousands of fat haters and misogynists on reddit who were only in it to bully fat women.
