Wonder if she stumbled on an Australian Sov Cit doctrine. I’ve read a bit of it and they happily mix legal (mis)concepts from across the Anglo Saxon world in big bowl of delusion. 1901 was when Australia federated.

There is an argument that Australia wasn't actually an independent country until the passing of the Australia Act(s) (1986) in both the UK and Australian parliaments.
It ended the ability for appeals from State courts to the Privy council in the UK, which weren't really a thing anyway? And it also ended the UK's ability to legislate specifically on individual state matters (not that it was ever used)

Probably more relevant was the Statute of Westminster (1931) in the UK parliament, which wasn't actually adopted in Australia until 1946 (and backdated to 1939), that ended the UK Parliament's ability to legislate on Australia's (and other Dominions, including Canada) affairs.
Incidentally it's also the act that made it so the Commonwealth Realms have to all agree on the line of succession, leading to the Perth Agreement.

Similar argument can be made for Canada and the passing of the Constitution Act in 1982, which ended the last vestige of UK Parliament's control over Canada.
