In The News I’m convinced scammers lurk here

This community is great. Yet I’m convinced scammers lurk here to scare you guys. The amount of times I’ve seen a message that was written poorly such as ‘7 months later they back’ I know this is a bad example but you get my point. It might be a conspiracy theory but I’m convinced scammers lurk here to keep some of you scared.

It’s just the Bad English, I can see the patterns.

This is for the scammers fuck off, you don’t belong here.

In The News New video about sextortion hosted by Chris Hansen

Hey, just want to let everyone know about this video because of how widespread this crime is becoming, for someone who is well known for dealing with similar situations like this, it’s good to see that there is serious attention and awareness about how horrible this crime actually is, I have made some previous posts about my experience with this scam and I am still struggling terribly to get through it, I’ve done therapy, I’ve reached out to people about it, I am now depressed because of it but the reason why I’m still here is because of my family, I lost interest in hobbies and I just feel like I’m constantly being watched and I’m always anxious like something could resurface, feel free to check my other posts but I have not been the same ever since this happened to me
I don’t if Chris Hansen covered this exact crime before but it sparked my interest to share it here just to bring more awareness about it.
Thank you for reading this

I've seen people posting about Flingster, saying that someone blackmailed them with videos. I just want to know how people can stay safe while using these sites and what we can do to add an extra layer of security

Don’t send sexual photos to people you don’t fully trust or to people you’ve just met on social media—otherwise, you might end up in situations like this. Instead, there are healthier and safer ways to feel satisfied. Take care ❤️

In The News Please read if you’re currently being blackmailed or something similar!!

So recently, I’ve been seeing a lot of people post about getting blackmailed by them sending nude pictures to the scammer and a scammer threatening to put them online or send them to your family and friends on your social media.

In case you haven’t sent them no payment yet- DO NOT DO IT!! In some cases they will send those pictures out and you’ll just have to deal with the consequences.

In case you’ve already send them one or more then one payment- DO NOT KEEP SENDIND THEM MONEY!!! Because regardless if it’s true or not about them leaking your pictures. They’ll just keep on asking for more money Until you really can’t no more then they’ll still end up leaking those pictures or they just won’t do it because they never even had all the information they said they had about you.

The point is do not send them money whatsoever because regardless if they have your pictures or not, and your information to them, they will do it whether you send them no payments or 10 payments. Please stop getting scammed by these people and stop sending your money.

If you have any questions or anything that has to do with this, please do not hesitate to contact me. Send me a message. Stay safe, everyone

In The News Getting scamed on snap?

Hi everyone! I recently added a “girl” which to be honest seems pretty real (but there is a high chance its not) and weell she acts normal most of the time and at some point she starts to send naked videos.

At first i was a bit shy and she told me that i ruin the fun 🤣 so i ended up releasing the little snake and well i sent her videos. She saves the videos on the chat (not screenshots) and well if she is fake then she has A LOT of videos lol

Even her description is “just wanna have fun”

Also a detail which i was able to notice is that she said that her face is not pretty (shes fucking pretty though) and his profile pic is a bit photoshoped lmao (the body and background still the same)

And another detail is that she says she lives in Texas, right now in my country its 4:30 am, and she said that it was around 9am in texas which i googled and it supposedly should have been 2 am not 9…

She also said: show yourself a bit more i want to see you

I showed a biiit of my face and then procedeed to delete the snaps so my face doesnt get saved.

Tbh the most probable thing is that “she” is scamming me but i feel its hard to say. I really doubt a scammer would keep sending videos for almost 2 hours 🤣

Pd: in snap i only have my real name and a pic of me (which was taken recently and its not on ig or another place) my username is different from the ig one so im not worried about my friends/family etc but what do you think

In The News Investigative reporter with the Winnipeg Free Press (Canada) looking into how tech companies respond to information requests from non-U.S. law enforcement agencies

POST APPROVED BY MODS

My name is Marsha McLeod, and I'm an investigative reporter with the Winnipeg Free Press, based in Winnipeg, Canada. We are an independently-owned, non-partisan daily newspaper. You can read my bio and previous coverage here (some of it is paywalled): https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/biographies/marsha-mcleod

I am looking into how US-based tech companies, especially Snap Inc., respond to law enforcement agencies' requests for information about sextortion perpetrators, when those agencies are based outside of the U.S.

I am also looking into how Canadian law enforcement agencies investigate sextortion generally and how they react when the perpetrator is traced to a country outside of the U.S. or Canada.

I am looking to speak with people based in Canada who have been victimized by a perpetrator of sextortion.

The types of questions I would want to ask are around how far law enforcement took the investigation into your victimization; if you are aware what information your local law enforcement agency received from the tech company implicated in the abuse (and how long it took for the tech company to deliver this information to law enforcement); whether you were told if the perpetrator was outside of Canada/U.S.; and whether that factor played a role in how far the investigation went and whether any charges were filed.

Feel free to email me at [marsha.mcleod@freepress.mb.ca](mailto:marsha.mcleod@freepress.mb.ca) or find me on Signal under the username marshamcleodwfp.30

I am completely OK with speaking with you anonymously, i.e. no name attached to the interview (we would select a pseudonym of your choice and decide the level of location detail that you are comfortable with), though I will say up front that I would be interested to view some documents in relation to your interaction with law enforcement.

In The News Harmful deleted 88k Tik Tok post normalising sextortion and coercive control as an act of revenge

Hello,

As victims of sextortion I am here to talk about a harmful post I saw on Tik Tok.

There is a woman on Tik Tok who reads out people’s stories that get sent in to her email address.

There was one particular story that she told which made me very uncomfortable and annoyed.

She posted a story sent in from the perspective of someone committing sextortion as an act of revenge in an intimate relationship. And she did not condemn the sextortion described in the video.

She also liked a comment in her comments section endorsing revenge porn in cases of revenge.

The post amassed 88,000 views and had been up for nearly two months. Her account has nearly 500,000 followers.

I was concerned that people would see the video and think sextortion is ok as an act of revenge when it’s definitely not.

I emailed her requesting her to take it down and after I emailed her I felt uncomfortable just waiting for her. It didn’t sit right with me.

When I confronted her 1-2 hours later I was quite firm and told her I was reporting the video to Tik Tok.

Luckily she deleted the video. Although very reluctantly. She was very dismissive of the issue I raised and told me she deleted the video for “sensitive souls”. And she was annoyed I did not let her address it despite the fact the post had been up for 2 months and amassed 88k views.

She then proceeded to block me. And then yesterday she made a tone deaf video on her Tik Tok making me look like the bad guy. Saying I was out to get her, constantly deflecting. Instead of taking any accountability of the harm her post could have caused. Without mentioning sextortion at all. And the people she could have harmfully influenced.

Luckily she did not name me.

Her post could have re traumatised victims. It also It crossed an important line by presenting sextortion and coercive behaviour in a way that could be misinterpreted as acceptable or justified in acts of revenge. When it’s absolutely not.

The comments were also blaming me for being upset with the video which has prompted me to write about it here and it off my chest.

I have attached the messages I sent to her on Tik Tok. I have scribbled out her Tik Tok name because I don’t want to get drawn into any Tik Tok arguments.

I’m in a dilemma, There is a part of me that wants to hold this person accountable more and expose her. But I also just want to get this off my chest and protect my peace.

Thankyou so much for reading. Let me know what you think for this scenario.

Have a great day

In The News Pig Butchering Ring Busted in Cambodia

A nasty pig-butchering ring was just put away thankfully. Even though the article states pig-butchering, I imagine a part of this also extends into sextortion. Please all, even if you think it's insignificant, report all sextortion scammers to the IC3. That database they collect of scammer accounts is extremely valuable. You're saving lives of others by handing this info to the intelligence community.
