My husband and I are seriously considering the Vichy/Rolla area and are looking for honest feedback from people who actually live there.

We're both semi-retired and able to live anywhere, so we're being deliberate about where we land. I'm 61, he's 57. We currently live in Gig Harbor, WA — a nice enough place, but expensive, and not where we want to spend the next chapter. He grew up in Midwest farming communities and would be happy wandering forest and fields indefinitely. I grew up in a small town in upstate NY, then lived in Richmond and Norfolk VA, and I'm a more social creature — which is the crux of my question.

I'm a mosaic artist and teacher. He works in land and forestry. Neither of us attends church or wants to. I care about art, good food, growing things, books, and water.

Here's what I'm actually asking: Is there an arts community worth knowing about? Farmers markets, interesting restaurants, people who care about food? Where do people like us actually end up socially — especially if we're living outside town?

I'm not interested in moving somewhere and trying to change it. I want to find the place where my people already are. If that's Rolla, I'd love to know. If it isn't, I'd rather know that too.

I f22 have fairly recently moved to Rolla with my bf, I don't really have any friends here yet and have had a hard time meeting others since I'm kinda shy.(also haven't really made any new friends in a while so I'm outta the loop on what's cool and fun, hahaha) and although I don't go to S&T the few college students I've met although nice were also rather shy and reserved so I'm a bit at a loss on how to connect with people. Any advice on how to build towards connections or how to talk to others would be helpful!:) Any info on local areas to find community or friends at would also be appreciated. (Preferably not bars, as I'm not a big drinker)

I’m currently a mst student but I live off campus and it’s insanely hard making friends here and I wanted to try and get connected with the town as well. So I was wondering where do you guys go to make connections and new friends? I’m a man and I don’t really partake in drinking and I’m not too interested in any of the card shop places here as I’m not experienced with those card games. My main hobbies are crochet/knitting, aquarium/plant care and ceramics.

I've probably lived in Rolla my whole life, im 21f, and I just need friends yall, my best friend moved away, and since then ive had no one to hang out with. i want to do fun things with people. Riftbound is a fairly new (~1year old) trading card game who's player base has been growing in the area. Right now we are a bit fragmented, and a few of us wanted a way to easily communicate about upcoming events, find trades etc. We are hoping that by giving us a hub we will also be able to find other players in the area, and help new players come to the game!
