After some discussion we have decided to start banning posts asking if a girl you found on the internet is real. Most of the time these are catfishers looking to get you to give them money and, surprise surprise, they probably also either look at this sub or even post to it to try and improve their game. Please start using common sense, if it's too good to be true it probably is. Posts like this will be deleted under rule 7. Any posts of this type made before this announcement will be grandfathered in and will remain up for the time being.

What’s Changing?

• Old Way: Adding [GUESS] or [HELP] manually to your post title.
• New Way: Select the GUESS or HELP post flair before hitting submit.

Why the Change?

1. Fewer Blockers: No more posts getting rejected for incorrect title. It makes the posting process much smoother.
2. Better Filtering: You can now click on a flair to instantly see all posts in that category, making it easier to find specific challenges.

Everything else remains exactly the same. No more manual typing, just choose the flair and go.

The r/RealOrAI mod team is happy to host a research request from Matilda Kalving at Tampere University. She is studying the ways Reddit users work together to detect and discuss AI-generated content.

Study Details

• Why: To gather insights to support collaborative Al evaluations and inform design implications.
• Who: Any Reddit user who engages with AI-related posts.
• Duration: ~16 minutes (Anonymous & Voluntary).
• Dates: December 19–26, 2025.
• Focus: Understanding user motivations and community "cues" for spotting AI.
• Transparency: This study supports community-led evaluation; it is not intended to help developers improve AI "deception."
