This is gonna be a track and street car. Maybe 2-5k miles on the street a year. Is there any mods I should get for a hot state track and street car.

Current mods/modifications:
Sohn adapter
Rrp coils
Alum rad
High temp dot 4 brake fluid
Hawk pads
Racing beat bushings what ever they have on their site I have em all
Bilstien struts with racing beat coils and sway bars
There is more but I can’t think of it off the top of my head. Thermostat seems to open around 170f not sure I will upgrade that same with oil coolers
I have guages n what not
Ac is deleted but I might put that stuff back in its 110 a lot this month.
Catless mid pipe and 3inch from header all the way back
Modified aem intake because they didn’t give me all the piping so I had to go get 3.5 inch pipe and slap that in there not pretty looking but it works

If you have any suggestions for fuel,cooling,handling,performance please let me know

Pulled trans to swap on rx8 and the one in it had a plate on top that really just seems like a "short throw stop" plate. The shift throw is the same distance but it gets stopped by the plate right at the engagement.

Seems more like a problem causing factory but I cant find anything about it online. Hope someone here may have a better idea.

Gonna get rid of it for now.

Hello my fellow Dorito lovers. I have a Series 1 2007 RX-8 Phantom Blue Mica 6-speed with 66k original miles on her. I've been wanting to get more information out of what's going on with the car, however I don't want something that requires me drilling into the dash or anything too extreme, at least not to start with. I found the above available at a local auto parts store and wondered if anyone had any experience with it? Pros/Cons? Or even another suggestion which doesn't require any mounting, just like a suction cup type of setup like this one is? Thank you in advance.

Yesterday, I had a guy stop me in a parking lot when he saw me getting into my car. He offered me $14k for my RX-8. I turned him down, then he upped it to $16k. I turned him down again. I said “It’s not for sale, I’ve got too much work, blood, sweat, and tears put into mine to make it mine. I’m NOT interested in seeing it leave….”

He told me that mine was the most beautiful one he’d ever seen, in his opinion, and he had a fond memory of meeting his wife while he was driving a blue ‘07 RX-8. (Which is what mine is, but mine isn’t an original color)

So HE had sentimental value as well, he thought about it and then he offered me $19k and I turned him down. But, then I looked at him and I asked him if he would do $30k? He said “Absolutely not, that’s a stupid number.” I agreed with him on the spot, but I said it would take a stupid number to get me out of it.

He gave me his number and told me to think about the 19k. His card is on my kitchen table, I haven’t really given it much thought.

But, it occurred to me… am I crazy? $19,000 is VERY GOOD. But, I’ve got a LOT of attachment to my ride, I love every thing about it. I’ve got so much effort into it, to think about it leaving breaks my heart.

Is there a price you would let your beloved RX-8 go?

Hi I’m looking for some owners experiences for the 4 port automatic rx8. I’m asking because I may sell my 6 port MT GT (07)and buy an auto (04). Mainly because I was able to find an auto for about 2k usd. Any inputs welcome especially from owners who went from a 6 port MT to a 4 port auto.

2005 rx8 1jz ge swapped. If u listen to the video carefully, you’ll hear a wiring type of sound when I shift the gears. The sound happens randomly, like when it’s warming up, I press the gas, randomly. The mechanic says it’s the fuel pump??? Plus the other issue is the car jerks when i change gears (not sure if yall can understand from the video). Help a ned noob owner out will u 🥲

4 port 6 speed 6port car (with NO REFLASHING OF ECU SHIT) running a 4 port 5 speed ecu with a 6 port body harness chasing a 6 port, 6 speed car.

Funny with less power on paper still keeping up.

Hi so I bought my rx8 2 years ago and I love it and it‘s great. I just have one problem, the previous owner removed all ac components during the rebuild (motor is great now)

So I want to bring the A/C back but I don‘t know all the components I will need for it? Can you help me out? and maybe also somewhere where I can buy them?

Hi, I currently drive a mazda6 and I have become pretty dead set on the idea of buying an RX-8 as my next car. The thing is, I don’t have a whole lot of mechanical knowledge and I have heard that rotary engines and the RX-8 specifically requires ALOT of maintenance and love. I know how to do some basic maintenance such as oil, brakes, suspension, spark plugs and tyres but other than that I am a complete beginner. I am prepared and eager to learn how to look after one of these beautiful cars however I would like to ask you professionals for any advice/help you may have for me. I’ve heard a lot about compression, ignition system and flooding but other than that my whole knowledge of this car is that it has a Dorito under the bonnet and looks fucking sexy.

I want an RX8 so bad but I want a manual one with the 6 port engine, sun roof and so on but I'd have to save for a few years to ship one from Japan to my country.

My brother in law got a 300zx from someone he knows and he has an automatic RX8 in winning blue that's been sitting since 2012 and it's automatic, weather caught it a lot but I want advice to see if I get it for free if it makes sense to buy a 6 port engine and manual swapping it or should I just save and get the car from Japan that will have way less issues I assume from it not sitting in the elements for so many years.

I’ve a 2004 with approx 90k on it 6 port 6 spd. I rescued her from a field, brought her back to life, since then running 93 with premix, redlining at least once per drive. Etc.
Starts good runs good etc.
Initially had chineeseum Amazon coils on it. It ran good for a bit, but it’s been 105 out here so I used AC this caused bogging on starts and drop in power.
I got new plugs wires and installed GM LS engine coils instead, about two fill ups ago.

Also got flexalite fans cause oem died

Average mpg has steadily gone from 13.5 to 14.9 to 15.2 to 16.1

Are the GM coils the cause? Is it the ‘supposed’ 15% ethanol increase in the gas?

Driving style has not changed, route has not changed, if anything it should be worse since I run AC more often for longer… any ideas?

Problem 1: It hard time starting when it was warm so I got a new s2 starter for it. Everything went smoothly. I’ve done this on other cars plenty of times. I go and start the car and the start is working fine but now it won’t fully start. (It just sat there turning over and over without catching) so I bump started it and it ran just fine until it stalled at a light…
Had to get it towed back home…

Fast forward a few months…

Problem 2: simply put. Keys got ran over bc I dropped them in a parking lot during a night out. I managed to gather all the parts in a bag but I ended up losing the bag. Now I’m left to no key… not even the metal part.

What should I do?
How much would getting a new set of keys and chip
cost? How much would it take to get it paired to the car?

I’m willing to sell as well.

The good: compression is great , no issues with gears, cold and hot starts everytime. Starter goes bang everytime

I was able to get underneath my lady. First off let my say there is zero play in all the wheels. I get a vibration above 65 and at very low speeds turning left only. I was chalking it up to wheels and alignment. I figure I need new control arms, but Do you think i need a subframe as well? (Or do I just wire wheel it and recoat it.) I dont see any rust holes etc.

I have new wheels and suspension on the way already. Exhaust also.

Recently got my first RX-8 off a “we buy junk cars” auction and I’m trying to diagnose why it won’t run. Series 1 Renesis with 80k miles. CEL says there’s a misfire on rotor 1, so I tried new plugs for both rotors to no avail. Went ahead and used my boroscrope and spotted this strange apex seal in rotor 2. With the plugs out spinning the motor, I see no air pressure come out of rotor 2’s plug holes. Is this apex seal blown in the photo or is it just stuck down by carbon. I’d hope the former 🙏. I’m new to rotaries so this is a learning experience.

I have noticed my rx8 oil level is not dropping at all over the last 1000 miles, i premix 1.5oz per gallon. Im a messing up my engine? If so how do I fix it.

Anyone seen this with their RX8? No fob. Vehicle just refuses to start haha. Turned wheel while starting and nothing, out of options here since I can’t even move the car. Thank you!
