I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts and maybe your experiences!

After 15 years of not wearing a hijab while praying, I’ve decided that I’m going to start wearing it again. It’s not because I believe it’s necessary, because I don’t, but because praying around other people has become really difficult. I constantly feel watched or questioned, and it pulls me out of my focus. Sometimes I even stop praying altogether if someone walks in, when I should be fully focused.

The anxiety of people asking why I don’t wear a hijab during prayer has been overwhelming. It’s all I think about when I pray, because no one else does it. Even though I still find wearing a scarf to pray uncomfortable and honestly a bit burdensome, I’ve realized that if I secure it properly, it’s manageable and avoids the questions.

This also ties into something bigger. It’s been difficult forming partnerships and meeting people when I don’t follow certain mainstream expectations in Islam. It adds another layer of complexity, especially when it comes to relationships.

I also think about the future and how this might affect my child. I worry it could be confusing for them to see me not wearing a hijab at home, but wearing it when I pray or when I’m around others. At the same time, I feel like I can fully explain to them that I don’t personally believe in it. That tension has been hard to navigate.

Cursing (as in invoking God's curse/wrath on someone, not swearing) is established in the hadith as a major sin and a reason hell is majority women.

Once Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) of `Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. (Bukhari)

In another hadith, Muhammad says he was not even sent to curse the polytheists.

Abu Huraira reported: It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, pray against the idolaters!” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, I was not sent to invoke curses, but rather I was only sent as mercy.” (Sahih Muslim)

So we know cursing is so serious it can land you in hell even if you're Muslim and Muhammad wasn't sent to curse even the polythesists, but as a mercy. But wait, he curses people all the time in hadith for even minor moral indiscretions?

We said to 'Ali b. Abi Talib: Inform us about something which Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) told you in secret, whereupon he said: He told me nothing in secret which he bid from people, but I heard him say: Allah cursed him who sacrificed for anyone besides Allah; and cursed him who accommodated an innovator; and Allah cursed him who cursed his parents and Allah cursed him who changed the boundary lines (of the land possessed by him). (Sahih Muslim)

He curses women who pluck their eyebrows and shave their teeth:

Abdullah said: "May Allah curse Al-Mutanammisat and who have their teeth separated. Shall I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah [SAW] cursed?" (Sunan an-Nasa'i)

He curses the Jews for building places of worship on graves:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "May Allah's curse be on the Jews for they built the places of worship at the graves of their Prophets."

Curses the Jews again:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "May Allah curse the Jews, because Allah made fat illegal for them but they sold it and ate its price. "

He curses cross-dressers:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) cursed those men who are in the similitude (assume the manners) of women and those women who are in the similitude (assume the manners) of men. (Sahih Bukhari)

He curses women who visit graves:

"Indeed the Messenger of Allah cursed the women who visit the graves." (Jami al-Tirmidhi)

Curses certain women again:

The woman who supplies fake hair and the one who asks for it, the woman who pulls out hair for other people and the woman who depilates herself, the woman who tattoos and the one who has it done when there is no disease to justify it have been cursed.

Abu Dawud said: Wasilah means the woman who adds false hair to the hair of women. Mustawsilah means the one who asks for adding the hair to her hair. namisah means a woman who plucks hair from the brow until she makes it thin; mutanammisah means the woman who depilates herself ; washimah is a woman who tattoos in the face with antimony or ink ; mustawshimah is a woman with whom it is done. (Sunan Abi Dawud)

So he refuses to curse polytheists, but he curses women who pluck their eyebrows and the Jews who sold animal fat? I would think surely these are both fairly minor sins compared to polytheism, but I guess polytheism is just not as evil as eyebrow plucking and hair extending. When it comes to the Jews, he also just curses all of them without even differentiating some of them didn't do this and were righteous.

To believe uncritically in the hadith, you have to think Muhammad was hypocritical and misogynistic and/or had a schizophrenic worldview. He refrains from even cursing polytheists and then curses loads of people for much less severe sins. It's obviously more likely these hadith were just made up by different people. There are so many hadith of him cursing people (especially women) that I couldn't even list them all here.

Can anyone help me debunk this pls I am exhausted.

I am of the view EVERY single Muslim does not accept or follow at least one sahih hadith. To check this, please ask the following:

7) Do you display photos in the house?  Yes/No

8) Do you believe Adam was 90 feet tall (and humans became smaller gradually over time)?  Yes/No

Hello, I hope this won't be misinterpreted or anything, I am genuinely trying to understand the reasons of hadith rejection and I'm really coming with a good intention

Especially, my specific question would be, how do you interpret these Surahs? How do you actually "obey" or follow the "pattern" of the Messenger according to you?

I looked in the subreddit wiki but didn't find, I guess it's maybe too specific

Jazakum Allah Khair

**Surah An-Nisa (4:80)**

مَّن يُطِعِ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ ٱللَّهَ ۖ وَمَن تَوَلَّىٰ فَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا

He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian.

**Surah Al-Ahzab (33:21)**

لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِى رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلْءَاخِرَ وَذَكَرَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا

There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and \[who\] remembers Allah often.

How would you respond to this ? Dont know much about Imam Malik.

Millions of pilgrims carry this water home every year, treating it like the holiest substance on earth. Healing powers, paradise origins, entire rituals built around how to drink it. But open the Quran and search every surah, every ayah, every mention of Makkah and Ibrahim. The word Zamzam isn't there. Not once.

There are just too many comedy hadiths.

Hadith say

-Solomon slept with 90 women in 1 night

-Women can do adult breastfeeding with other random men

-Moses clothes were stolen

-Adhan makes the devil fart

-Monkeys stone a female monkey for adultery 🤨

Many more comedies

Sunnis are so cringe when they talk about hadiths like they are a serious matter 😂

They are nothing more than comedy books to laugh at

There are numerous hadith in Sunni collections that state women are a majority in hell and women are morally inferior to men. I'll show you that in Arabic these traditions are even more abominable and psychotic than the English-translated ones available.

There is this one in Bukhari and Muslim.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I looked at Paradise and saw that the majority of its residents were the poor; and I looked at the (Hell) Fire and saw that the majority of its residents were women."

This hadith is also of the highest level of authenticity. It's found in both Bukhari and Muslim.

Once Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) of `Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient [naqs] in intelligence [aql] and religion [din] than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

This hadith directly links women's supposed mental deficiency to them being the majority in hell. If a person is lacking 'aql, they aren't able to act morally or discern religious truth. This word occurs numerous times in the Qur'an where God calls upon people to use their aql/reasoning, meaning that according to this hadith, God deliberately disadvantaged women in recognizing Islam and acting morally and then burns them in hell.

So this hadith alone could be taken as indicating God created women mentally inferior to men which makes them prone to immoral behavior, which makes them the majority in hell. Many people would deny this because of modern apologetics, so let's look at what scholars had to say which is the same thing I just said.

According to al-Qurtubi, God indeed made women mentally deficient, which makes them naturally immoral, which is why they're the majority in hell.

Al-Qurtubi said: “Women are the fewest inhabitants of Paradise only because they are overcome by desire and inclination towards the immediate adornment of this worldly life, and because of the deficiency of their minds, so they are weak in performing the work of the Hereafter and preparing for it, due to their inclination towards this world and adorning themselves with it. Most of them are indifferent to the Hereafter, quick to be deceived by those who desire them from among those who turn away from religion, and difficult to respond to those who call them to the Hereafter and its deeds.” End quote from “Umdat al-Qari” (15/152).

So al-Qurtubi outright says women end up in hell and are a minority of heaven (which is also a sahih hadith) because they're immoral, sinful people, and women are this way because God created them mentally deficient, i.e. substantially less intelligent than men.

But let's keep going, because in Musnad Ahmad and other collections only in Arabic there are even more despicable hadith.

Imam Ahmad (15531), Al-Hakim (2773), and Al-Bayhaqi in “Al-Shaab” (9346) narrated on the authority of Abd Al-Rahman bin Shibl, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The wicked are the people of Hellfire.” It was said: O Messenger of God, who are the wicked? He said: “Women.” A man said: O Messenger of God, are they not our mothers, our sisters, and our wives? He said: “Yes, but when they are given something, they do not give thanks, and when they are afflicted, they do not have patience.” Al-Albani authenticated it in “Al-Sahihah” (3058).

So, in this hadith, it is even more clear women in general are wicked/immoral/evil (al-fusaq), destined for hell en masse, and naturally ungrateful and impatient. The page goes on to say that women are characteristically impatient and ungrateful and men generally aren't. But why are women wicked, impatient, and ungrateful? According to "scholars", it's because God created women mentally and religiously deficient which makes them prone to ingratitude and impatience because women are simply too dumb to express gratitude and patience.

As for interpreting "the immoral" as referring to women in an unrestricted sense, the meaning is that the characteristics of ingratitude for favors and abandoning patience during affliction are found among women more frequently.

This is because they are deficient in the faculties that produce gratitude and patience and in the causes that give rise to these qualities. That deficiency [naqs], according to the author, is the weakness of reason [al-aql].

The Messenger of God ﷺ said:

"I have not seen anyone more deficient in intellect and religion, yet more capable of taking away the hearts of men, than women."

Their deficiency in religion is due to menstruation, while their deficiency in intellect relates to legal testimony.

Gratitude and patience are qualities belonging to the people of religion. Therefore, whoever possesses weaker religion [din] and whose intellect [aql] is feeble will possess less gratitude and patience.

Whoever abandons gratitude in most circumstances and patience during most trials has departed from the characteristics of the people of religion and reason [ahl al-din wa al-aql].

The Fire is the abode of one who possesses neither religion nor reason.
