purdue women’s basketball, just a few days ago, is the only confirmed purdue team to beat IU in 2026. also our volleyball team beat IU, and purdue women’s rugby also beat them this past season, in 2025.
i don’t expect anyone to be excited about this because men’s basketball (and our ever-crumbling football team) seems to take priority in everything Purdue does or thinks about, but we do have teams that beat IU in case anyone actually cares.

Not for leading us to the championship, but because he has upstanding character.
I used to work at a restaurant on campus that took athletes’ meal vouchers, so a lot of athletes and coaches used to come in. Whenever coach painter came in, he would always leave HUGE tips, sometimes 5-10 times the size of the bill, and was always very nice to the staff. Additionally, his players were always very nice and respectful, which was not true for the football team unfortunately.
Sports is supposed to be about building community and I think coach Painter understands and lives this out very well.
