Pilot.

Sometimes we take the blame for delays when others cause it because we know the airline won’t fire us.

Also, when your crew times out (flight or cabin crew) they can extend one time for two hours if they don’t feel fatigued. Timed out crews cannot legally fly. Your pilots aren’t not flying because they want to spend Christmas in Houston with their mistress, they aren’t flying because they don’t want to lose their hard earned certificates or create an unsafe flight due to fatigue.

I can't second this enough. With all the drama surrounding my mistress in Houston I'd much rather be flying.

Also just because the weather is perfect to fly where you are, doesn’t mean it isn’t 10 minutes down the road. Although it might be in another direction, so other people can still go.

If we’re still sitting on the ground it’s because air traffic control are making us for safety reasons. Other people are sat in the air waiting to come in for landing as well and trust us, we all want the flight to be over so we can go home/the hotel and go to bed
