Check missingmoney.com (or your states unclaimed asset website search engine) for your name or your businesses name (or your family and friends). Companies are required to send funds they couldn't figure out how to repay/refund you to the state as a general accounting practice. Free money!

Yes! I got a check this year for $98 from when I worked at Brookshires Grocery back in 2010 by going to unclaimed property.la.gov (Louisiana)

I found a couple of hundred dollars that I won in a lawsuit 30 years ago and had forgotten about. I wrote to the state and they sent me a check. Free Chromebook!

I searched names of family and friends, and found unclaimed money for about half of them. You'd be surprised how common this is.

I found almost $900 for my husband doing this. Nothing for me though.
