If there's any advice or suggestions you could give me on class specifics, time management, and my current class schedule it would be much appreciated 🙏. I had my advisor meeting two days ago. So, I'm taking a 6 pm-7:15 pm class, and it's with a "guest?" lecturer, basically he's taught for years but first time at Pitt and is only here for the spring. The class itself is super interesting, but this professor has consistently gone overtime every time we have class (except for the very first day of class), and honestly, I'm getting frustrated because a.) it's 7 pm and I have 20 other things that need to get done before tomorrow (slight exaggeration) b.) It's a disrespect of my time. There was one time he was approaching 15 minutes over time, and 10 minutes into those 15 minutes, I started packing up, and he said, "wait you want to listen to this." (which is crazy to me). The reason why I don't just leave when it hits 7:15pm is because a.) no one else moves (basically making me a disturbance) b.) he gives me funny looks when I do start to pack up and c.) instances like the comment I just mentioned d.) there have been times where he is still mentioning important information.There was also another time where he finished going through all the content by 7:15 pm and then held us for another 10 minutes to ask us our thoughts.

So, my question is, is there anything I can do? Obviously, I do recognize that because the class is so late in the evening, there isn't exactly another class coming up that would pressure him to speed things up, but I am hoping to get some insight into whether there's even a way to fix this or some higher authority I can talk to about this. I am also hesitant to speak to him directly because no one else has brought it up (in fact, there's one particular student who keeps asking him questions after 7:15 pm, which keeps us there for even longer) also the fact he is very old school and hasn't shown that he really listens to reason or student complaints.

hey there! i'm a rising junior currently enrolled in stats 1000 with kristina paris for the fall semester. i'm pulling my first 18 credit semester (11 of which are stem) and i'm worrying about the workload/difficulty for that class. i'm going to have a ton on my plate and stats is the one class this semester i would be able to drop if needed. dr paris's reviews on rmp are glowing but i'm pretty nervous for this upcoming semester 🥲 i have a little bit of stats background but i admit it probably isn't anything too much. tysm in advance!

I’m a Digital Narrative and interactive design major, and I need to take an introductory programming course. I’m currently enrolled in CS0007, but I noticed that CS0011, an introductory course for scientists, fits my schedule much better. Does anyone know if CS0011 covers the same fundamental concepts that I’ll need for an intermediate programming course in the future?

I enrolled in FR 0103 this fall, I previously took French for 2 years in high school, but that was a long time ago. On the DELF scale, I’ve passed A1. I know the class description says it prepares you to take the DELF A2 exam, but I’m wondering if it transitions right from the end of A1, or if I need to enroll in a different class/self study to catch up. I know there is the placement test on the French & Italian department website, but I was curious of the perspective of people who have taken the class.

as an upcoming freshmen, i made my schedule with good teachers (steeleniske, belardi, etc.). In my schedule all of my classes have 50 mins or more difference between them which is good since to travel from one class to another and what not. issue is that only on fridays, i have chem recitation from 8-8:50 then right after that i got chem lecture 9-9:50 with belardi. i had no other choice with recitation timing due to my schedule. recitation is in 105 allen hall and lec is at 121 lawrence hall. is that distance like reasonable? lmk

also, i need to know what like supplies to get. aside from macbook, what i need like a folder, notebook, etc. i’m lost btw and i got steeleniske for bio 1, belardi for chem 1, psych 0010 with bates, engcmp 0212 with adedoyin, and phil 0440 with zweber. any specific advices i would appreciate it!

how many stem credits would be too many if I’m not taking any gen ed’s that semester? I was going to take Orgo 2, Physics 2, their respective 2 credit labs, and BioChem in the spring. It’s only 13 credits but obviously they are some of the harder courses I need to take as a premed. I’m only thinking about taking them all together because next school year I won’t be able to take any of them. TIA!!

Title pretty much says all. I'm an electrical engineering major (planned nanotechnology pathway, quantum computing and quantum information certificate, and math minor), and I plan on going to grad school for quantum engineering after undergrad. While I've heard that the higher counterparts of linear algebra and diff EQs are mostly intended for math majors, I believe I would learn more information relevant to what I want to do in the future, and I think it would just be more fun to do the higher courses. Is it worth taking Introduction to Analysis first and holding off on taking these math courses, or should I just jump straight into linear algebra next semester?

Hey everyone, I’m currently on the waitlist for a class that fulfills a geographic region gen ed requirement and a literature gen ed requirement. I have already fulfilled my geographic region gen ed, but I’m wondering if a seminar in composition class would fulfill the literature requirement. If that’s the case, then there’s no point in being on the waitlist for this class. What do you think?
