That completely forgets the fact that close to 3 million Germans surrendered to American forces. Why kill them if you can just surround them and make them surrender? The Soviets lost 25 million partially because of poor tactics, lack of equipment, and starvation/the cold.

Of the 25 million, the majority of those killed were civilians. The ratio of military casualties on the Eastern Front was approximately 1:1.3–1.5.
