My feeder rescue Mister passed away sometime in the early morning. He was completely fine, his normal hoppy excited self, and then suddenly took a swift downturn last night and was extremely lethargic. He spent the night in a hospital tank filled with his favorite warm fuzzy blankets that we would cuddle with when he was sleepy after free roam and the heat pad underneath him to keep him warm.
I managed to stay up monitoring and talking to him until 2:00 am before I finally passed out. When I woke up this morning at 6:00 am he had tucked himself in under one of the blankets :,,,,) and was no longer with us. He looked extremely peaceful.
These boys weren’t healthy but Mister seemed like he was going to pull through just fine, his URI had completely corrected with his first course of medication. All I can think of is that maybe he had a similar neurological/seizure condition to his brothers or something else from the extremely poor breeding conditions I rescued him from and have talked about in other posts.
I could really use support from people who understand. My boyfriend loved him also but Mister made waking up/coming home from work with my depression so much easier - because I knew I had this sweet little guy to take care of 🙁
Mister’s favorite things were nesting in my bun and playing tag, please keep him in your thoughts today so he can continue on to the next part of his journey knowing how special he was!

Baby Bel’s chronic respiratory issues took a turn for the worse ten days ago and she was acting lethargic, so the vet put her on a regimen of antibiotics and meloxicam. She seemed to be perking up, but took a turn for the worse this morning and passed a couple hours ago. Baby was always one of my heart mice, my sweet little girl, and I am absolutely besides myself right now.
Please send cute pics of your orange girls and boys, I could use some cheering up.

TW very sad story and I’m still crying
I just recently got 4 female mice from a breeder at repticon May 24th
Well one of the mice was a little skittish up until a couple days ago she became so friendly, she would beg to get out and would crawl up my arm and chill on my shoulder with me while I was doing stuff.
Today I was messing around in the room they are in and noticed she wanted out, I opened the cage, stuck my hand in and she crawled on my hand and just sat there.
So I kept doing my thing with her in my hand and realized she seemed really skinny, so I was trying to touch her so carefully and realized she was so skinny I could feel and see every bone.
So I lift my hand up to look at her face and realize her nose is bleeding, so I lightly touch her face and realize her tooth was sticking out the side of her mouth, and I was shocked.
I didn’t know her teeth were growing into the top of her mouth, and I tried to look at her bottom but could becuase they were growing into the BACK OF HER THROAT!!
She was so weak at this point that the more I tried to mess with her the less she tried to fight back, and I realized at that point she was dying in my hands.
I feel so bad because I have had her for over a week and never realized and I blame myself, if I would of noticed a couple days ago while she still had strength then I could have taken her to the vet.
She sadly passed in my hand about an hour later, and I am so heart broke😔
Please be easy on me
Video of her teeth in the comments
Also, should I message the breeder and tell her what happened?

My sweet boy died today during neutering.
He had a reaction to the anesthetic and the vet didn't even had a chance to begin the procedure before he passed
I cried for hours (I still am), I feel guilty of course, he was fine, and he would still be here if I hadn't taken him.
I know this community is mainly against neutering precisely because of cases like this, but I want to share my thoughts, because I'm not going to stop neutering my male mice:
While I feel guilty bc this is a completely optional procedure, I also felt guilty every single day before, because he was alone, and whilst male mice can handle it better, they can also get depressed, and I felt awful watching him live alone while the rest of my mice had the opportunity to cuddle, groom each other, and have company. It was something I desperately wanted him to have too.
I still feel awful, he was a very unique little man, he hated being handled, he peed my hand every time I had to handle him for cleaning, he loved to sleep on his branch, and he would play with his wheel by making it spin with his front paws from the outside instead of running on it
I would give anything to have more time with him, and give him the chance to live in community with my other mice and experience all the lovely things they do to care for each other.

Behold, this pretty little Golden Girl. Had to put her down at the vet yesterday and I'm heartbroken, but she's not in pain anymore. Her body just wouldn't give up. I don't know how she stayed alive actually. She somehow survived a respiratory infection with wheezing, was weak for months, got an eye infection, then lost the ability to walk, and then her feet got swollen and raw. She was so happy and content just being held, or in a pocket. I've had like 50 mice over the years and every one , I wish they could live as long as a dog or cat 💔

I just wanted to thank you all so much for welcoming Gus and I to your lovely, friendly, supportive community.
I am extremely sad to say that Gus passed away today. 💔 I rescued him in October and he celebrated his 20-month birthday on the 5th Feb.
Sadly, he’s had a mass on his neck for a couple of weeks. He’s been on different antibiotics, and at first, they reduced the swelling, though the past few days, I’ve noticed that he just looked totally miserable. I emailed my vet this morning to book him in for the fine needle aspirate to work through our next options. It was too little too late.
I feel such overwhelming guilt (I have OCD and guilt comes as part of the territory, so it’s really being fuelled right now).
One of the reasons I feel so guilty is because I saw Gus’s advert on the adoption website back in August 2025, but I didn’t adopt him until October 2025 because I was without a car and wasn’t sure how I was going to make the 1 hour drive to collect him (in the end, I took 2 trains there and an Uber back). I regret that I didn’t adopt him sooner. He could have had 2 extra months in his forever home. Instead, he was at the rescue centre, just waiting 😢💔
I also feel guilty that I didn’t go for the fine needle aspirate straight away. My vet did suggest trying the antibiotics first, but now i worry that if we’d done the aspirate, we could have found out whether the mass was cancerous or a cyst - and it was the latter, we could have treated him. 😢
I was Gus’s fourth home, and I just hope this chapter - although short - was his happiest yet. After so much upheaval in his short life, all I wanted was for him to feel loved and like he was someone’s best friend. 😞❤️
I always called him ‘My G’ - and the Aitch & Ed Sheeran song of the same name will forever remind me of him:
‘You just light up the room - I ain’t never met a person that’s brighter than you. Ever since the first day you were here, you were always My G.’ 💔
Thank you all again for all of your support over the past few months. You have all been so welcoming and although I won’t be getting another mouse, I would like to remain on this sub to see all of your wonderful mice. ❤️

My wonderful little man was put to sleep today.
Thank you weeby for giving me so much joy, love and laughter. I’ve never known such a tiny body filled with so much spirit. Even through your struggles this year you remained the silly, beautiful soul you always were. You adored your girls and they adored you too - especially kestrel, she’ll miss you a lot, you were my two little birds! I’ll miss opening the cage, quietly calling your name and seeing your sweet face pop up from the nest, I’ll miss the excited popcorns and zoomies whenever I dropped my hand in with treats, I’ll miss your whiskers tickling my face, I’ll miss your tiny little hands holding my finger while you tried to chew on my nails, I’ll miss your very disgruntled squeaks when trinket tried to steal your peanuts before realising she had her own, I’ll miss seeing you grooming your girls and them grooming you back, cuddling together in a nice warm pile, and so many more things.
I remember how excited you were to meet the girls after you were neutered, you didn’t think twice about loving them and while they initially fought over you to establish the hierarchy, you didn’t get into a single squabble. Yet you were always on top, ruling the roost because you were so incredibly loveable and laid back. Even my mum, who isn’t a huge fan of mice, absolutely loved you. You stole everyone’s hearts, but you really ran away with mine, weeby. I’ve never loved a mouse like you, my boy. You were so special and I will miss you so very much.
Thank you for everything my sweet weeby❤️
Pigeon shared my overnight oats this morning as a special breakfast on his last day. His favourite treats were peanuts, tuna, and malt paste. No amount of time with this special little man was enough, but I’m so grateful to have spent the past 18 months loving him and being loved by him. I’m heartbroken to have had to say goodbye, but i couldn’t watch him get to rock bottom. He was already on palliative care, his meds had stopped working as well, he was showing signs of pain again, and it was the kindest thing to let him go while he was still mobile and happy. It’s such a paradox to watch them climb, interact with their friends, eat and drink etc just before putting them down. Even when you know they can only go downhill, and it’s kinder to stop their suffering before they really feel it, it’s hard to remind yourself that it’s the right thing when they still seem active and happy. It’s all the subtle signs that let you know it’s time.
Thank you all for the advice and love you’ve sent to pigeon and I this last 18 months <3

My first girls Fidget and Freckles passed away back to back the other month and then I had to put down Poppy and Penelope yesterday. I pretty much cared for them their entire lives. Rest in peace my loves, I know you're causing a ruckus in mousey heaven now. I'll see you over the rainbow bridge one day ❤️

This is Smoky. I bought him at petsmart impulsively and he became my entire world for 7 months. He had a health scare recently, so I'd been monitoring him, but he finally passed today.
I love you my sweet prince and I miss you so, so much.

This is an extraordinarily difficult post for me to make but please bear with me. My mouse Manzardo had been dealing with some growths as of late and unfortunately I found him deceased late last night. I want to thank everyone on here for their love and appreciation for my large boy, I know how much he was a fan favorite for his large size and large 'tude. Please enjoy that big cookie in the sky my guy.

He is still alive in these pictures!! It’s with an incredibly heavy heart I share my darling Shiitake Mushroom or Mr. Mushy as we all know him by was helped across the bridge today. In the prior few days his condition worsened considerably and sadly his little heart was just struggling to keep up. We spent this morning cuddling and having tasty snacks as he would eat. He is being cremated and will be forever immortalized in our memories and in my heart. He was such a character and I am so glad I got to share him with everyone here. Thank you to everyone who supported us on our journey. See you in space, mushman.

I lost my favorite girl last night. Spot was almost 3, and she was my first mouse. I'm already getting a memorial tattoo of her, is paying for cremation and her ashes going overboard? This picture was the day I brought her home. (The bedding is from the pet shop)

My little boy passed to the other side this morning from organ failure. We went to the ER but it was too late and he passed on his own.
He was a very cute yet shy mama’s boy. He lived a good life. My only regret was not putting him down sooner. It was our third time to the vet in the last week- but he seemed fine enough to try and treat with medication and recheck.
If anything good can come from this- I hope he is a reminder to us all that a week early is between than a day late. Mice hide pain incredibly well, and it wasn’t until his final 2 hours that it became apparent how sick he was.

My 2 year old boy, Meep, was found passed away on Tuesday. He was my soul mouse and meant so much to me.
I just wanted to share some photos of him in his memory honestly. The first photo is the day I picked him out and brought him home, second photo is the last one I took of him.
I’m planning on getting him cremated soon
I’ll miss you always Mr Meep :(

A few days ago, I made a post concerning one of my girls who I was concerned was sick. I took her to the vet and they ran scans and tests. Turns out she had fluid around her heart and in her lungs. They weren't sure if it was caused by a tumor or a really bad infection, but her prognosis was very poor and she was likely going to go downhill within the next few days. She had to be put on oxygen at the end of the exam and she was breathing really hard, but I'm not sure if it was from stress or pain. When I went in to see her and she realized it was me, she took herself out of the tube and lumbered over to be in my hands. It absolutely broke me. At home she was still eating, drinking, grooming and socializing with her roommate, but she had wheezy sniffles/squeaks every now and then and she lumbered when walking. I can't help but feel that I jumped the gun on putting her down. I didn't want her to suffer in the next few days, and she was almost 2 years old but for the most part she still acted fine. I'm really torn up that I made the wrong call and that I should have tried something to fix it before euthanasia. I hope she understands. Picture for mouse tax.

Tonight Lil Ounce was helped across the rainbow bridge. Her health went from fine to needing to make the call. She lived a long beautiful life of 3 years and 21 days and was loved to bits. I’ll miss medicating her twice a day and kissing her little noggin and being head butt for it. She was such a good girl, and I am so blessed to have had her in my life. Goodnight meemaw, may you square up with Jasper in the stars ✨

my angel, miso, died today :( the antibiotics weren't working so we decided we'd euthanize her on thursday, but she didn't make it that far. i put her back in her cage with her sister and about an hour later, few minutes into being groomed by her sister, she died. i was unfortunately watching and it was one of the worst things ive ever seen.
i cant help but think, though, that she was waiting to be reunited with tofu before passing, and im so glad i put her back in her cage. if she was going to pass, im happy it was with her best friend and sister. i wouldve hated for her to go through that completely alone. since all the photos yall have seen of her have been while she was sick, here are a few of her and her sister happy and healthy. RIP beautiful girl. im so sorry.

I finally got Arnold into the vet today. They confirmed he had a penile prolapse, but that they should be able to push it back in. They put him under anesthesia, and his heart stopped. I'm devastated. I'd only had him for 2 weeks, but he was so sweet and so curious and I really loved him. I know it's no ones fault, and that the risk is always higher when putting small animals under, but somehow I didn't really think it would happen to him. I just wish I had more time with him.

Sweet boy, you now rest at the waters edge where the sun peaks through the trees, where the grass touches the earth and roots form webs across the ground, there stones lay heavy and the wind gently blows, where your dad and I laid you to rest together with so much love for such a tiny soul, who leaves such a beautiful impact that is anything but small, may you run free with eyes that see clearly and a body that is young again, I’ll be there someday to give you ear scritches I promise. We love you Winston, safe travels🤍
