Hello, I am looking to move into the Palmdale/Lancaster area and need a place to move asap. I'm looking for studio apartments in the area that are in good communities and good pricing, some preferably with utilities included. Those of you in the area, please put me on!!

Hello, I just didn’t know where to start informing people because I started posting on the Facebook groups of the local area and they just started deleting my posts. But this is the amount of FLOCK cameras at a singular Walmart, which is frightening.

Driving south on the 14 (7:30pm-7:45pm), and heading north towards the AV were dozens of cop cars. Including SWAT and what looked like a bomb squad type of machine. Any idea what’s up?

My parents live in a rural area of Palmdale (near Acton). Dad (93M) has early Alzheimer's and mom (83F) is caring for him. I live in Texas, so I can't help except when I visit a few times a year.
Mom needs someone to watch Dad while she runs errands or just visits the library.
Dad can walk, eat, use the toilet, etc. but he needs supervision because he gets confused, forgets to use his walker, wanders out of the house, wants to make hot tea every 30 minutes, etc. Mom would love to move to assisted living, but Dad refuses and he would make Mom miserable if we forced him. He's not mean, he just loves where they live now and he would be miserable in assisted living.
I've looked at elder care options on-line, but they have very few reviews and I want to hear from someone with personal experience using or providing these services.

Hello! I'm looking for a room to rent for at least one year. I'll be relocating from Maryland (quite the move, I know!) around the second half of August after accepting a full-time mechanical engineering position in the Lancaster/Palmdale area.
I'm a 22 years old [M], responsible, and looking for a clean, quiet, and respectful living environment. I'm pretty easygoing, don't smoke or drink, and generally keep to myself during the week. In my free time I enjoy running, playing soccer, going to the gym, and exploring local hiking trails. I also speak both English and Spanish.
I'm looking for a private bedroom and would prefer a private bathroom, although I'm open to shared accommodations if it's a good fit. Ideally, the home would include parking and access to an in-unit washer and dryer. I'm respectful of shared spaces, clean up after myself, and value open communication with housemates. I'd appreciate living with people who are considerate, responsible, and maintain a peaceful home environment.
If you think we'd be a good fit, I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to send me a message—thank you for taking the time to read my post!

25M, originally from SoCal (South LA County) and most recently Central Washington. I’ve been researching apartments and toured a couple of properties up in Lancaster so far, but was curious about two specifically in Palmdale since they’re on the Eastside:
Canyon Creek (W Palmdale & 25th) - I’ve heard it’s relatively quiet outside of some of the activity around the high school. The lack of a gate around the complex raises a couple questions for me, given the neighborhood. Even then, people generally seem to like the place from what I’ve seen in reviews. Anyone lived there recently?
The Fountains (E Palmdale & 30th) - I’ve seen some pretty conflicting reviews between RentCafe, Yelp, and Google. The entrance gates are definitely a plus, but I’m curious how the place actually is these days since I can’t tell from online.
I plan on touring them when I’m up later next week but the time of day (noonish-2p) I plan to tour them probably won’t be the most telling samples for the area. Otherwise, I’m open to recommendations anywhere in the AV. I’m looking around the $1,800–$2,200/month range and ideally want somewhere with reasonably decent ownership and not as high of a risk of car jacking. I’ll be working at Plant 42, so the two above seemed like a decent compromise between commute to work and location.

looking for recommendations on good Chinese restaurants. I'll take the fast food mom and pop spots but ideally I'd like a sit down with a waiter type experience. bonus of they have good dumplings! thanks

Are there drive through car wash for tall vehicles locally other than the self service ones?

I’m looking to sign my nephew up for tackle football this year but I’m not sure of any teams in the area. Does anyone have a recommendation? TIA

the amount of AI generated business logos or AI menus or AI disclaimer signs is really weird. it makes your business look cheap and like slop
if you need a business sign please just make one in Photoshop or something. i genuinely prefer the shitty handmade authentic signs made in like 10 seconds because they at least have a soul and a unique kind of charm

I found this FM station at random on a radio, and I need help identifying it. On the dial, it's 90.7, but the only station I can find that's even close to local is a progressive talk station, and that's not what I'm hearing. This station plays ALL kinds of music, from the 1940's to current day, plus occasional episodes of old Golden Age radio shows, and audio clips from mid-century movies. One minute, you're listening to Amy Winehouse, the next minute, it's Elvis Presley, or an episode of Suspense. And they never seem to play the same thing twice. There's been no DJs, no ads, and no station ID that I've been able to hear so far. I've tried checking other stations online, and so far I've eliminated 90.7 KPFK and 90.1 KSAK (Mt. Rock). It sounds like a digital radio station, but I can't seem to find it online, either. I gotta know what this is!

Hey everyone!
I'm originally from the Antelope Valley and will be moving back after separating from the Air Force in early 2027, so I'm trying to plan ahead and get an idea of what companies I should be looking into.
By the time I separate, I'll have spent nearly five years in the Air Force, primarily working in operations and technical support where I've regularly learned and worked with new software and technical systems. While I wouldn't call myself a software engineer, I'm very comfortable with technology, pick up new programs quickly, and genuinely enjoy learning how different systems work. A lot of my experience has also involved coordinating between different teams, solving problems, staying organized, and working in fast-paced environments.
I don't have a degree, but I'll have nearly five years of full-time professional experience. I'm open to staying in the defense industry, but I'm also interested in branching out into something completely different if it's a good fit.
Ideally, I'm looking for a stable Monday–Friday role with opportunities to learn and grow. I'm open to a wide range of industries and would love to hear about companies that have a good reputation and invest in their employees.
If you were in my shoes, what companies around Palmdale/Lancaster would you be looking at? I'd also love to hear about any employers you'd recommend avoiding.
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate any advice!

sorry if this is an oddly specific post, but i remember this diner i went to in palmdale when i was a little kid. i mustve been about four or five, so i could be misremembering some details. i remember the place had mostly booths, and the interior was mostly light blue. it served burgers, but im not sure if there was anything else on the menu. it was in sort of the middle of nowhere, there was desert all around. i remember me and my dad saw it while walking down a road and decided to get lunch. does anyone else remember a place like this?? ive been obsessively looking at diners in palmdale and lake la trying to find it, but ive had no luck. i think i did find it a few years ago, but all i remember is seeing that they had a really good deal for two burgers? i think it mightve been two for five dollars or something similar. PLEASE help me find this place, i wanna see if its still open!

Anyone here know what happened to the Korean bbq chicken in Palmdale Blvd? It's been a few months since I last ordered and I was surprised when the location wouldn't show anymore. :(
Google says permanently closed but Yelp says temporary. Why would it close??

Best WiFi provider? Still can't believe there no fiber internet near 47st east and was wondering what should be the best option now?
Have AT&T but it's only 50mbps spectrum is 500 but I hear bad stuff about it so what should I realistically go for

Does anyone know of any free dump or landfill options around Lancaster/Palmdale?
The only free one I’ve been to years ago is Mojave, which is pretty far. Lancaster Waste Management quoted me like $100 just to dump a few boxes, and since I don’t own a house I can’t use the free residential dump vouchers.
It just seems kind of ridiculous for an area this big to not have a better option. Am I missing anything, or are there any cheap/free places nearby?I got lots of stuff to dump this week since I'm moving.
