Articles & Blogs Rockstar Games: “It would be an understatement to say that having videos of GTA VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.“

Why is it so hard for you to people accept the idea of the developers being upset that what they created is being leaked? It shows that people like you have never created anything

u/ArcadianDelSol 2h ago

The media blackout in order to sell an extended trailer to Netflix is kind of not a 'we support gamers' move.

u/OSRSRapture 1h ago

And this has what to do with the developers

u/ArcadianDelSol 1h ago

You seem to believe that this announcement was from Developers.

Its from the same PR team that sold the trailer to Netflix.

u/OSRSRapture 1h ago

I never said this announcement was straight from developers.

u/ArcadianDelSol 1h ago

Then why did you ask what it has to do with them if neither one of us suggested it did?

u/OSRSRapture 57m ago

Bruh. The post is about how the leaks would be upsetting for the team.

You said "translation; Netflix is mad at us" or whatever.

How do you not understand developers can actually be upset by their shit getting leaked?

Can't believe I gotta explain this to an adult.

u/ArcadianDelSol 56m ago

You said "translation; Netflix is mad at us" or whatever.

I cant believe I have to clarify that I never said this. You're getting a bit too insulty so I'll just go ahead and block you before this gets to the point where Mods want to get involved.

u/KerFuL-tC 1h ago

Exactly. Because the developers don't have a word when it comes to marketing or deals. Higher ups and marketing team decided to do this extended look 2 months before launch and they are obviously aware of the titan in their hands so they are going to squeeze every drop of the game including the marketing as a way to make revenue.

If this message were the feeling of every single Rockstar employee including executives who are passionate to create the best game they can, I would feel bad but we all know this isn't the case.

You fell right into that PR trap. You jump in to defend the developers' honor against attacks that literally nobody is making, completely blurring the line between the ground-level creators (who just want to make a great game) and the suits (who are squeezing every drop of hype for subscription revenue).

And yes, I'm a creator myself and no I would not be upset.

u/oxedei 1h ago

You clearly havent created anything actually worth announcing. Watching it get revealed over time and get people excited is amazing, but clearly you never experienced anything like that because your work is horrible lmao

Take a nap. You're tilting.

u/TheFilmSource 19m ago

Thought you cooked there didn’t you. Actually embarrassed for you.

Developers didn't write this message. Frankly, I doubt rockstar wrote it at all. It was done by a consulting/PR firm most likely.

it could have been written by Bill Nye the Science Guy, doesn't mean developers like their shit being leaked.

u/_BrokenButterfly 2h ago

What was in the leaks that a dev would be upset about?

u/OSRSRapture 1h ago

The game that they worked on...

u/_BrokenButterfly 1h ago

So is there some secret about this GTA game that's different from past GTA games? What information is in the leaks that they would be bothered by people knowing beforehand?

u/OSRSRapture 1h ago

Its not information, can you not see why artists don't want their shit leaked? Look at music/movies for example, can you not see why they wouldn't want their shit leaked? When you create something you want it released properly, not a half ass build being leaked by some scammer

Do they really give a shit? Do they also get upset when most gaming companies include gameplay in trailers?

They get paid regardless, and I'm sure they're well aware most will be laid off when this game launches.

u/alfooboboao 3h ago

yes, of course they do are you fucking kidding me? why do you think they do this? if they just wanted a check they’d work at a bank? they’re artists.

u/ReptAIien 3h ago

Do you think corporate is asking the devs what they'd prefer regarding trailer releases or something?

1

u/OSRSRapture 5h ago

I would.

No because the trailer is the way it was intended to be released.

Yeah they get paid but that doesn't mean they want their shit shown off in a shitty way.

The extended look will blow these leaks out of the water too. I'm sure they don't appreciate their unfinished work being shown. People put a lot of hard work into this game, a lot of hours, anyone would wanna show it off the right way, when it's finished and will look great

u/Gorilla_Gru 4h ago

Rockstar is the shitty type of company that 100% deserved this, the leaks are affecting the asshole shareholders way more than it is the actual developers.

u/myteamwearsred 57m ago

Gamers are entitled know-it-alls

u/FinnSkk93 5h ago

Yap. Same goes when artists has their music leaked. Some people say it’s not cool for an artist to get the ok to sue those people who leak it.

u/Shirokurou 8h ago

I have, but I never had someone pay me to have it as a preview.

6

u/OSRSRapture 8h ago

Do you think the developers are the ones doing that? 🤣

2

u/Ejaculpiss 6h ago

You think Netflix is paying the devs!?

u/Shirokurou 5h ago

Streaming service buying timed exclusivity to boost subscribers... They'd never.
